After only few minutes in contemplation I was able to forgive everyone. Or at least it started to appear like a realistic possibility to me. And it felt good. But when it comes to forgiving myself I completely shut down. This feels so far away for me.

Allyson Edwards The same way you forgive others the same way you forgive yourself. If you can explain other’s behaviour you can explain yours. Look, whatever you need to forgive yourself for, you are not the person who did it. Your level of consciousness is higher that’s why you think you need to forgive yourself. Love yourself instead. The more love you have for yourself the more you have for others.

@@shefali567 You've got to be ok with feeling the trauma and not using the hurt as an excuse to lash out. It also requires an absurd amount of courage to check yourself. You do and will act out biases learned through said trauma. See Aaron Abke's video on defense mechanisms and Teal Swan's video on parallel realities. Pairs up very well with Leo's thought experiment on you being the devil which he references here.

I actually cried in every step. It’s hard. Too many people did too many things. Forgiving them makes me feel like I’ve failed myself when I know it’s the complete opposite. It’s not easy to forgive things that turn your life around and made your life a living hell every time. It needs courage and hopefully I’ll be up for it.

The thing about "betrayal" is that it is only in your head. Nobody betrayed you. Everybody is selfish, including yourself; even in a relationship, you and your partner are only in that relationship because you are both benefiting from it. If you stopped loving one another and became unhappy, you will want to leave or find someone to meet your desires. Open your eyes to the truth, maybe then you will be freed from this hurt of "betrayal".

I have enjoyed many of your videos in the past but this one comes pretty close to perfection. I have been struggling with forgiving an ex for several months. As I began watching this video, I realized that I was not willing to let go of the anger and self-righteousness. As you began your talk, it was as if it was structured for me. After watching this video, I feel more self-aware, lighter, forgiving, as if a part of my anger has dropped away. You have an understanding of human nature that is impressive. This information is priceless. I have deep gratitude for you sharing it.

I have found additional help in learning to forgive someone is to determine their personality type on the Ennegram. This tells you about what motivates them, their fears, how they think and operate in life. This has helped me understand why they did what they did that hurt me. Of course, in their state of consciousness, they felt like they made the right decision, while not owning up to their fears and immaturity.

Forgiving yourself and others is a way to love yourself. Realize that people rationalize their behaviour based on past programming. They did what they thought was right with the information they have received in life so far, you are different. By forgiving you are also doing it for yourself as it is you who are carrying the negative emotional baggage of not forgiving, NOT THEM. 🌟🍀

I recommend a book called “CPTSD from Surviving to Thriving by Pete Walker”. I think before someone is truly ready for forgiveness (esp a lifelong history of being abused or severely traumatized by one’s family of origin/close relations), one might need to grieve first. It’s a very important step to first acknowledge how deeply you were abandoned. Also you could forgive but if they continue to abuse you due to unconsciousness you might have to set boundaries, you don’t have to put up with it anymore even if you choose to forgive them.
@SEsand86

Yes, it's important to distinguish forgiving from enabling. And to decide when enough is enough. Moreover, forgiveness as not holding resentment is for ourselves and our own peace, despite what reasons others might have had to do or not do something that hurt us. Leo kind of gets to this after 1 hour and 18 minutes 😅 Blessings

Se.rena thanks yeah I did hear him talk about abusive relationships near the end there, I think it’s just less talked about when it’s your parents who are parasitic and manipulate you even after adulthood. Society has the “forgive your parents” attitude which isn’t just about forgiving but also to “get along” with them which can lead to more abuse. All Im saying is I guess if you still were to be in touch with such parents learning to set boundaries is so important.

Leo, if you’re reading this: Do a video on What The Point of Suffering I think it’s an idea everyone is stumped on
@CJ2K
@CJ2K 3 жыл бұрын
suffering is actually not something we are supposed to going through, the reason we suffer is because we see it from the perspective of it being horrible and bad when you have a choice where you can see nothing but bliss
@Karina_Engr

Something motivational speaker mention all the time is when we suffer that's when we grow. That's a good explinatuon for the average person. You're most like shifting out of average in some way. I believe Leo has a video on resistance and detachment. Suffering is something we create. If we let go and practice detachment, what is meant for us will be. I had the most pleasant letgo from a job and it was beautiful. I wasn't attaching it to my identity, I understood business (no revenue = budget cuts, and thus had nothing to do with me) and I know my worth outside of this company. Practicinf detachment is easier said then done though because, as of this writing, I'm attached to love and relationships, so I'm being single until I heal that part of myself. I've made peace that I can die alone and single and that's ok. Beautiful people die all the time, it's a lesson in this earth school. #WGTOW #healing #BeTheChange

Leo.. u r love. I have been following your videos for almost 6 years by now..when i started watching your videos i was in class 11 and i was psychologically completely down.. I was in a great depression, but as i watched your very first video"how to be yourself" i felt to begin my whole life started to change. Many a time, i felt like to say you thankyou through the comments n all, but my innervoice stopped me doing so just because i felt like just writing a comment cant b enough to say you thankyou. Brother, you deserve all the blessings of the world. I know I can just write a thankyou note, but you can never b thanked enough for making me learn 'how to live'. Keep up the great work From my side a very small effort to say you thanks. Love, From India🇮🇳

Five reasons why someone hurt you: 1. They hurt you out of ignorance. 2. They were weak in that moment and succumbed to some kind of fear. 3. They did it out of selfishness. 4. They did it out of a desperate desire for love, because they lack love. 5. They did it out of a lack of consciousness.

NOTES / (The video is an exercice, notes can't be a substitute to it) The pillars of forgiveness : 1/ Realize that all “evil” human actions stem from -Fear and Weakness -A desperate desire to be loved -Selfishness -Ignorance -Lack of consciousness. 2/ Those people are different from you : they will act differently. They were raised differently, maybe they carry much trauma, have different values 3/ YOU DO THE SAME ALL THE TIME. So the first step is indeed to forgive yourself ! “Bring to mind all the times in your life where you acted out of ignorance, weakness, selfishness, unconsciousness and a need for love”. Draw the commonality between this person and yourself. These are universal dynamics of human behavior. Realize that you almost never intentionally hurt others, but that you sometimes do. We’re all struggling for love. The highest strength that you can possess is to be hurt by somebody and not need to retaliate. 4/ Most of the time, when somebody hurt you, it is because he was hurt by somebody else before. It’s a chain of hurt. => “Are you strong enough to be willing to break this chain of hurt ?” or “Are you gonna be a link in this chain and pass it to somebody else ?” CUT THE CHAIN , RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW. 5/ Everybody has to figure out how life works : you start from total ignorance. But life is complex and counter intuitive. It takes trial and error to correct your ignorance. So, “Are you going to judge yourself and others for being born out of ignorance ? ”. Mistakes are part of life. Forgiving that is like “Forgiving gravity” : it’s just a force of nature. DEEPER VERSION : (if you have experienced NON-DUALITY) 1/ The boundary between Self and Others is not real. The person that you resent is literally YOU. 2/ Reality, Self and God are completely inevitable : there is no other way that it could be. This situation was PERFECT. It was necessary for your awakening ( like every single detail of your life). 3/ There is absolutely nothing to forgive because everything that ever happened to you was love. At this point, you have accepted yourself totally. And you’re completely healed. You will have to do this exercise multiple times. You don’t have to go through all the steps. You simply have to DRAW A COMMONALITY between the one who hurt you and you who got hurt. Practice this on multiple individuals. The degree of unconsciousness and ignorance of your father and your mother determines how traumatic your childhood was. But the deeper your lessons will be. Yes it was terrible, but if you’re able to overcome it, you’ll be extremely powerful. You have more people to forgive than you think. Try to write down all of those that are worth forgiving. Scan your Childhood, Scan your teenage years. Make the investment of forgiving those people now (it won’t take you forever) : it’s gonna free up your life going forward. It will improve all your relationships and make you more loving. Notice the power of understanding. A proper understanding of a situation removes all the emotional baggage that was there. This practice is simply based on understanding. And Complete Understanding entails Complete Heal. If you think life is terrible, it is simply because you don’t have a high level understanding of reality. WARNING : Be careful not to use this technique to tolerate people who are abusing you right now. You being loving doesn’t mean that you have to be a slave. Leaving a toxic relationship is love !

You are right, Leo, it is true: forgiveness is the deepest sense of love inside us, and someone's else mistake is our own mistake! Life is a big trouble when we see it in this way...But Love, especially if realized through a personal spiritual journey, can give us an incredible rebirth. This is our true Life, it can't be denied and it is absolutely wonderful! F.
