Hey guys, I play a lot of football, but for the past two years I've been struggling with injuries (pulling muscles) and haven't been able to play consistently for ages. It may be because I'm still growing. But what's the best thing to do to try and avoid these injuries?
@deannorris9793
@deannorris9793 8 жыл бұрын
I managed to do a front lever by doing no progressions at all. All I did was keep trying to do it over and over again until I could. Just the act of trying works the muscles enough for them to repair stronger for the next attempt. Same as muscle ups. I just kept trying and eventually pulled them off.
@deannorris9793
@deannorris9793 8 жыл бұрын
Lemon Squezey I just kept attempting to do a front lever until I could do one. No progressions at all. Same way I did muscle ups. I attempted and failed many times until I eventually succeeded. Even in failing you are still working your muscles and they will repair and get stronger for subsequent attempts.
@darkmanddk
@darkmanddk 8 жыл бұрын
And how long did that take you?
@deannorris9793
@deannorris9793 8 жыл бұрын
darkmanddk I had already built up a lot of strength in my arms from doing loads of pull ups, muscle ups, compound exercises, etc. Was doing all that for about 2 years, so by the time I kept trying to do the front lever it only took me about 3-4 weeks to adapt. So you could say those two years of calisthenics was kind of a natural progression. I just had developed enough strength and muscular endurance to jump straight into doing the front lever.

Don't forget scapula retraction and depression! However, a question: Should you body be in a hollow position during the Front lever hold?
@DarkSider85
@DarkSider85 9 жыл бұрын
+Gábor Zámborszky No, to be in a hollow position you must protract your scapula. Instead you should as you stated retract (and depress) your scapula to even out the gravitation pull and that would leave you in a neutral scapula position. You want to create a nice straight body line. Although I've seen people doing it with some protraction i.e hollow body and that will make it a bit easier, but it will not look as good. So in my opinion you should not be in a hollow body position due to reasons stated.
@jimmy747474
@jimmy747474 9 жыл бұрын
By hollow body position I wanted to refer to straight lower back :D So I mean, during a FL hold, do you arch your lower back or keep it flat (posterior pelvic tilt, a.k.a. PPT)?
@DarkSider85
@DarkSider85 9 жыл бұрын
You should keep your lower back flat by doing posterior pelvic tilt. Otherwise you may risk pain in lower back if you're arching. Also you will not be able to keep a straight line without doing P.P.T.

hey i have a question for you, can i do a front lever because i am 2m tall and i have very long legs, will that be harder for me? like flag, front lever, back lever?
@shenkeey
@shenkeey 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will be much harder. But most definitely possible. The front lever is hard, but not THAT hard. Planche is a lot harder for example. There are many short people that can do front levers with added weight to their feet, so all you need to do is work harder towards that goal and you'll get it (and get more muscle as well, so its definitely worth the work).

s0ccer96 As of now I find that just hanging on the bar with dead locked arms prevents me from bending them when I go up for the lever. I'm now holding the advanced tuck lever for ~20 seconds and feel it in my back when I drop down. Still, my arms do get a bit tired

Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me? I'm a 5ft,19 year old girl and weigh 110 lbs. I eat around 1400 calories a day and do 5-6 days weights and 3 days cardio. I want to build muscle without gaining much fat. Am I eating enough? Thanks
@ibrahimdridi
@ibrahimdridi 9 жыл бұрын
1400 calories I'd say is too little. You'd want to work out your maintenance calories and eat 300-400 calories more on training days
@jesscamilleri9345
@jesscamilleri9345 9 жыл бұрын
+Ibrahim Dridi For someone who's just 5ft, 1400kcals might not be too far off maintenance. +Nat Herrera what worked for me was increasing my kcals by about 5% each week and slowly dropping the amount of cardio I did. I was able to up my intake by about 500kcals (now on 2300 at 5ft4, 135lbs) and I'm gaining muscle. Make sure you're getting plenty of protein and carbs, and make sure you give each muscle group time (72hrs) to recover and you should see muscle gain soon! Also as Ibrahim said, increasing calories on training days is a good idea too, although I choose to only increase by 100-200 because I'm only small! All depends on your own size and structure!
@ibrahimdridi
@ibrahimdridi 9 жыл бұрын
+Jessica Camilleri yeah that's true I didn't take her height into account. I have 2700 on training days as I'm 5"8 and 140lbs and around 2400-2500 on non training days, my maintenance calories are at around 2100
