TBH, Not that helpful. You found out and highlight the problem very well as it resonated with me. But the solution had nothing to do with the visual parts of the design. You started talking about the coming up with the brand strategy not with solving the visual part which is where i am still stuck and makes me hate designing so much. I am on a point where i believe you really are born with creativity not some muscle thing which you read on the blog posts and other discussions. At pace which i design websites is totally not practical for a real world market scenario. I am too slow to come up with unique designs.

In all your videos, you explain everything I learnt in course and still continiuing in. Im glad Im still being rubbed in the face with the process of how to provide a client with all the information 'needed' 😂oh and Im thankful so much for some of the videos where you explain about not overcomplicating the details of logos and using examples from well known brands to back up your point about sticking to the basic idea of how a logo is made and it's pattern to why it still sticks out and continues to. Thank you so much for the information Abi!! Continue with the explanation cause these are SOO NEEDED 💯 Im a young graphic designer wanting to start my own projects and Im loving your intel and experienced knowlege to help me understand the wider image of this career

🎯 Key points for quick navigation: Designing can be stressful and demotivating, especially when facing creative blocks. Lack of thorough brand strategy can lead to unoriginal and uninspired designs. Young Abby's mistakes in not diving deep into the business, researching competitors, and providing unique design solutions led to a lack of creativity. Implementing brand foundations, brand positioning, and design solutions stages can help prevent creative blocks and ensure unique designs. Using a design brief template like Milano can help compile research notes and mood boards, ensuring a cohesive design process and preventing a shortage of ideas. Made with HARPA AI

In our school they teach us the importance of briefing and make a plan but also the analysis on target audience, competitive analysis and graphic design trends. Then within the analysis we have to make the conclusions visual with a moodboard of examples of other people's work. It's still not a definitive concept or the path that I would take. After that it's time to make minimum 2 concepts to present to the teacher/client based on the conclusions of the research, make a brainstorm and look at what the research taught you, and these concepts should be named using at the very least a verb as in having a whole story for your design. This is where I usually kind of have problems, the whole thing about thinking about concepts as a story, NOT a style. You hear from the teachers that by doing the analysis and brainstorming one gets ideas that are out of the box, since it is preferred that we don't use a lot of clichés but sometimes I get the feeling that I go too far with that and create something super abstract or something that unless I don't explain it in detail people ask why I made the choices that I do.

So with brand strategy I start by having a call with the client and ask them a bunch of questions about their business. Then go away and do my research. There are 3 stages to this: 1.Brand Foundations: the core of the brand. This is where I uncover a brands Mission, purpose, values and goals. These are rooted within the business and influence everything the brand does. 2. Brand Positioning -I do market research, analyse competitors and identify the businesses target audience and brand personality. 3. Design solutions - based on the information I’ve gained from the previous 2 steps, I’ll provide visual solutions for the brand in the form of Mood boards.

Dear Abi, I will starting a DIY Business, have bought me a lot of materials and my plotter, my domain and emailaccount but I stuck to begin because I want first have a Logo and a website where I can share with my clients. I am not sure if I should do a paid hosted website (if this, it shoulf be perfect from begin) or starting easier with a Linktree or something else, which is free but don't allow a much to be creative and with more functions like a paid hosting website. And I also stuck doing a Logo, I have one which I did with Canva, maybe I will do it on Ai, but it is not that what I really want. Should I use this for the beginning that I can start and then later when I redesign it with announcing it as the rebranding, or it is better to have from begin the right design?

Do you create moodboards for every design work you're working on or just those with branding? Genuinely wondering.
@abiconnick
@abiconnick Жыл бұрын
I specialise in branding so more often then not they're the projects I'm working on, but if I'm going something like packaging or social media post creation I still personally create mood boards as it gives me something to reference but also shows the client the design direction.
@AlyBalagtas-sb5ql
@AlyBalagtas-sb5ql Жыл бұрын
@@abiconnick That's true. I guess what makes creating mood boards so frustrating for me is that it takes me such a long time to do it when I just want it to end faster so I can start doing the actual designs. It makes me give up halfway the mood board process because it feels like I'm procrastinating or it's eventually just a waste of time -- which it isn't, really. Just my emotions acting up. (Also, wow! You replied! Keep sparkling. Big fan over here. Thank you for everything.
