I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur and start my own business since I was little. I had been with MAC for 6 years and it was a tough decision to make, but it was just time to move on. I believe you have to challenge yourself in life to grow as a person.

It's always good to know what values are important to them in a potential employee, why they like working for the company, how they like to operate their counter/store. Don't worry if you get rejected, people seldom get what they want the first time they seek it, it's up to you how badly you want it.

@babybling13 One that I loved to ask when I would go to interviews is "What is your management style", that covers how they like to run their counter/store, you could ask what they look for in a potential employee or why they love working there.

Any experience beauty and sales related will help. The thing I like about Sheridan's program is it teaches you about managing yourself as a business, so if you don't get in right away you can still brand yourself as a bridal artist, or whatever it is you want to do. Get all the experience you can, but remember it is still a sales related job so it's important to get that kind of work experience too i.e. work at another makeup counter in the meantime. Good luck! Haha, that is prob the first time I've heard that! Well, I'm Canadian from Toronto but my bff who I talk to daily is Australian, plus I'm in the states all the time and pick up accents really easily (not intentional, just happens!)

@vanessaxsureen You could try and go to a job agency and just do part-time/temp jobs that they give you, even if it's for a few days or weeks, it's still experience that you can build and expand on.

:D yesh im so glad! i won't work for MAC but i will be working for some other good makeup brand (well, hopefully). i'm 15 and i have a lot of experience already and have had a lot of practice with using and talking about cosmetics (urgh not bragging! lol) and im glad for that cause then the next step for me is just to do some kind of makeup thing in college and try my best to get into a good makeup company! lol

My main concern is my hair. I tend to dye my hair a lot, ranging from a multitude of colors. I understand that many companies stray away from these people. So my main question is in your experience do you think me having, say like katy perry hair color, would affect my chances or should I redye and stay a natural color?

I don't really think the whole 'Mac only hire part time workers' applies anymore, not in the UK anyway. I have friends that work at mac full time 37.5 hours and they also didn't have ANY makeup qualifications, it really doesn't matter these days, as long as you have the initial skill their in the makeup test.

Hi Deepa, I need advice! I've been for 3 interviews for 3 different makeup companies in the last few months and I haven't got any of the jobs, and I can't figure out why! I have lots of retail experience and a diploma in makeup artistry with a bit of experience, I did all my research, presented myself well, was polite and friendly, asked questions and answered questions well, basically a lot of what you said in your video. I'm starting to take it a bit personally so can you give me any advice?!

All of you asking for what questions to ask the interviewer... Come on, she has given you enough insite to go in and get this job, you can't think of anything to ask the employer yourself? This is what sets you apart from other candidates. You can't have everything handed to you. Think of those on your own girls.

@Tigerlily86sk First off don't take it personally. There can be a multitude of reasons why they decided to go with someone else. All u can do is keep doing what you're doing. I wanted to get into management so bad when I was at MAC that I must've gone on at least a dozen interviews before I got it. If u want something badly enough u have to keep at it, eventually something will come through. In the famous words of Pitbull (hey, look at where he's at!) Passion+Patience+Perseverance=Success :)
