gatekeeping in sprinting is pointless lol. it's about your ability at the end of the day
@jasonthedream
@jasonthedream 8 ай бұрын
@reginald8947 you would think so. But even the ones who make it, even if just a blip on the radar for a season or two, deal with this. For myself, I went to highschool with a professional coaches kids. I also had a close friend who anchored against Bolt. In both instances I personally dealt with gatekeeping. I had the ability, and even though I grew up poor and harassed for loving track, I clawed my way to being the best 200m and 400m in my area. The coach said "you'd be national caliber if you moved to the 800m" and when I asked him to train me he said he didn't have time. My Olympic athlete friends coach freaked out watching me run my Jr year. He told me he'd train me for free, then he took all my graduation money for just a few sessions. There's so much more it's infuriating. I worked my absolutely butt off and qualified for nationals a handful of seasons. I did everything I could and when I reached out, everyone who hyped me up was all full of it. Tried to keep it short, but believe me I have seen many examples like this in the sport. I competed from 9yrs old until I was 20.

How do I pace the 200m? Should I go all out from start to finish?
@arlonavant2250
@arlonavant2250 5 ай бұрын
Gradual build up of speed. If you star5 fast you'll burn out way too quickly. If you start too slow you'll have a lot of work to make up. Once you start coming up then you'll finish accelerating into your top speed. Hold that for as long as you can. The rest of the race is keeping form and de-accelerating slower than everyone else which comes from training

Super informative especially with the bit about center lane position on the curve. I always try to hug the inside third of the track for less distance ran but it is more challenging to keep proper hip positioning when doing so and always run the risk of stepping out of the lane. I’ll have to try sprinting down the middle!

That was awesome! I have ran track my entire life and never seen the 200m race broken down in this way. I am now a Master Track & Field athlete here in Costa Rica. "Master" usually means older.😂 Here the age requirements are 30 and above. I am well on my way to 60 and still loving life! Continuing to compete with all the physical changes taking place in the body can be difficult and require some mental adjustments but, well worth the time and effort. I would definitely enjoy a video breaking down the 100m race and the 400m race, if you haven't already done that one as well. Thanks for your time and instruction with this video. I am definitely looking forward to watching you bring home the golds in Paris!🤭 Way to go Noah! Keep positively representing black athletes and the United States.✌🏾
