I train six days, actually six days a week. Five days a week, I'll train three days a week. One of those days I will train two days of the week.

I train 5 days a week but on odd weeks, I actually train 6 to keep things even. Plus I only use 1/2 my technique on 1/3 of the days which doubles my progression.

Just hit the mats and have fun when ever you can
@preachclips8906
@preachclips8906 2 ай бұрын
There is a analogy for that in gaming. Trying to level your character the most efficient way may be the fastest way to progress, but if you don't have fun you are more likely to quit because of burnout. And the time you take off because of burnout leads to less time training, which is inefficient in terms of long term progress. So having fun to be able to stay consistent is actually the most efficient thing for some people.

Interesting video and insights; I'm a white belt who's been training for four years, approximately 1-2 days a week. Sometimes I make it 3 days a week; I usually get smoked in sparring 75% of the time, as most people I train with hit the mats 4-5 days a week. But I persevere with the mat time I can get! 😂🎉👍

As a 41 yo WB that has been training 1 day week (work schedule) for 9 months. I keep my game simple half-guard and smash pass to mount. I have won both my age group and White/blue belt absolute in the Two tournaments I have participated in.

I train 2 to 5 sessions per week, working full time. Nowadays i focus my train in half guard, k guard, and saddle, and i am developing my own system. I'm Brown belt and i feel confortable with competing black belts

i try my best to follow this approach, still a blue belt, "technically" i have to compete again before i get my purple, but i really enjoy the way you break this down. im at about year 3 and there is only a few people who can legitimately catch me in competitive rolls throughout the 2 gyms i go to. however i need more people my size to get a more accurate identification of my overall skillset.

I train five days during the week and usually an open mat on the weekends. I find myself usually ahead of folks who don't train at least 3 - 4 days a week minimum.

Awesome video mate. Really well spoken. Would love to know on top of all this stuff, what would you say is a list of priorities one should focus on from most important to least. I know you said to "identify and focus on weaknesses/strengths" but which are more important to least important? For example, should one ensure they have good guard passing defence first, then onto back defence.... etc etc. Would be interested in say the top 5 priorities someone should have or how someone should even think about such a hierarchy. Cheers brutha!

Josh I’m enjoying the advice. And all your videos. I feel like what your are saying differently will take certain amount of discipline. I don’t know how many time I went to train with an idea of what I’m going to do only to be driving home and realizing that I went into auto pilot with the class. I love the idea and the way you present it. I’m gonna give it a go and let you know how that concentrated effort work on two of my weaker areas. Also it would be real cool if you did a live session on how a session would look with the structure you described. A lot of us get pigeonhole into going with the masses and not training to better than the average guy. Does that make sense. Regards, Lucky

Thanks for this, really resonated. I got better much quicker by writing down and diarising post-roll. But the biggest gains have come from realising that positional sparring is about implementing technique not letting my ego try and win the round. Way less injuries too

Theres always value in instructionals. Apply what you learn in class plus instructionals in each roll during the week. Don't only study the instructional though actually focus on implementing what you learned

Great video! I appreciate the advice. However, as a person with Autism, I don't think you should joke and spread misinformation about it. I know it was said in a "harmless" way, but when people who don't know much about ASD here things like that from a person in a leadership role like yourself, it really does propagate the misinformation. What seems like a joke is something that's actually very challenging to live with day to day.
