Some times the equipment picks you , being an avid saltwater fly guy I came across an older model 8 wt - 9’ med action Orvis older model Clearwater rod for $10 bucks , I couldn’t pass up a deal like that , it looked unused and decided this was going to be my new everyday go to set up , I paired it with a Redington Bahemoth 9wt reel , a Cortland floating wt fwd 9wt line , I went with the 9 wt reel so I could get more backing on it ,( because you never know what’s going to bite ) and a heavier line because the action on the rod felt pretty stiff , matched it with a tapered floracarbon 17 lb test leader , I was surprised because even with the bigger reel and all the line ( the reel is cast aluminum) it felt pretty well balanced, I’m going to try and get out on the water this week and see if I can find a fish that wants to arm wrestle 😂
