You usually don't want to go viral. I had a viral video this summer and most of the people watching were quite aggressive and rude, not my usual audience who are smart, thoughtful and honestly really knowledgeable about my niche. None of those people who saw my viral video are going to buy my products or support my channel. I just made a few extra bucks from KZbin ad revenue, but that's not reliable, reproducible or a long-term solution for being a content creator these days. Just focus on really serving your audience and helping them. That's how you not only make it as a creative, but also how you enjoy doing it and don't burn out cos you're trying to go viral all the time.

We booked my dad into a fancy restaurant for his 50th and when he went to order a coke they asked if Pepsi was okay and he moved 30 people to the restaurant across the road where they had coke

Man, until a year ago I was getting 10k views so easily, now I gotta fight :) Although what you said is extremely true, and your tips are very good, there are some external factors like market saturation, better competition, getting out of your niche, and maybe some shadowbanning. Anyway, I'll get back on track, but in the meantime much love to your work!

For talking head videos, you should never lose focus. Why? You are not moving, so just set the focus to manual. Need to show something in front of your face? higher aperture.

Almost all true. But saying that certain videos don't get views because they're not good is not true. I've watched excellent videos that are great and that I've discovered by accident. So the discoverability element is so important and has NOTHING to do with the video quality and content itself
