I saw the eggs at the top of my tank I thought that they were old fish pellets or some bug laid them so I took them out, I looked up mystery snail eggs and my stomach sank. I feel like a horrible pet owner I should have looked it up😭😟😩😖😞

Wow thanks. I just found 2 sacs. I found one this morning didn't know what it was so I threw it away. When my wife came home hrs later I wad telling her and we found another sac as I'm showing her. So I got on utube to see what it was and came across uf video. Thanks appreciate the info. Now that i know what it is maybe i mite try and hatch the 2nd sac. 🤷‍♂️🤔

Not sure if you'll see this, but I have questions about my snail clutch. I started with 1 mystery snail & have about 10 now from the first clutch. My original mystery snail just died a few days ago, but the clutch is attached to the hood & has been there for close to 2 months. It only took the first clutch from the original snail a few weeks there's plenty of light, plenty of moisture. Not sure about the water temp because the heater went out during the storms when we lost power . But the other snails that are now growing very quickly appear to be doing just fine. Breeding & raising them was never my intention - this all started when we took the grandbabies to the pet store to pick out something small for the tank because it was empty & my grandson is fascinated with the tank & will fall asleep in front of it💙 So anyway, my granddaughter picked a snail & a small catfish. We obviously didn't know the snail was going to reproduce being the only 1 in the tank . Then we figured the catfish would eat any eggs that were laid(we know/know nothing about these critters). I have grown very attached to these little water creatures & want to care for them properly. Um looking into another tank because as they grow, I know that each snail needs at least 5 gallons per. There's probably 6-10 babies that are currently the size of the tip of my pinky finger right now. Back to the clutch - should I be concerned that it hasn't hatched yet? Will they all hatch at once? Am I seeing correctly what looks like pieces of the clutch laying on the bottom of the tank, getting ready to hatch? I really hope you see this & can get back to me. Thanks

Surely they fertilized her while she was in the store, the mysterious snails are not capable of self-fertilization, probably that is why the second clutch has not hatched

If you see a clutch of eggs that's fresh (gooey) leave it for 24 hours to harden. THEN use a paper towel under your hand to scoop it out. It will be firm and will sound like crunching, its just the bottom layer. It's like slug mucus

i got 7 egg clusters that haven't hatched yet and that's why I watched this video. I don't have a top cover to keep all the moisture trapped, maybe that's my issue. It's been over a month since the first egg cluster.

Hi! This is a great video! I have a 10 gallon tank with around 15 shrimp and 4 Golden Mystery Snails. This morning i found a clutch of eggs above the water line in my tank! I am happy about having baby snails...can i just let them hatch into the water with my other adult mystery snails? Or will they hurt the babies? I see you have all of your new babies in a separate container in the tank and i was wondering why ? Thank you!!

sux 2 suk nerite snails are technically brackish water, so their eggs won't hatch unless they're in brackish water.

Yes you just leave them but beware, there will be a ton of tiny snails that are almost impossible to catch. BUt they so grow superfast

I know you wrote this question a year ago but I'd like to add a couple things, as far as I know it'd work fine, although adding calcium to your water might raise your ph and hardness as it dissolves into the tank water. If that's not a big deal then I don't see why not. Personally I feed my snails tums, they actually love to eat them so much that if I put in too much they'll poop white calcium pellets lol.

Chloe’s Animals I’ve read online that you can do this, but I would tape it to the side of the tank so it doesn’t turn upside down accidentally due to water flow. I usually put mine in a container on the top near the tank light so they stay warm. Poke a couple holes in the container first

one of my mystery snails just laid its first clutch. Unfortunately, I have a lamp that I shine above the tank to provide good lighting for my plants, so there is no top, and the eggs wont make it. But it's still a very exciting event. Maybe next time I'll be quick and save a few eggs for myself.

Good morning! I was curious i have 5 mystery snails and apparently one laid eggs im not sure since when but i noticed on saturday and yesterday thry looked like they needed to be moisted so i got a little spoon and put the tank water on it but it felt a little hard. The eggs are on the very top of the tank above the water should i be concerned that they arent going to hatch ? The color is a very white color pretty much pearl.

David Sottini - not sure if you received a response. But, Rachel O’Leary has a good video on how to raise baby mystery snails. You can remove the egg sack from your tank, place in a tupperware with a lid that has holes in it. Inside, place some moist paper towels, put the sack in. Search for video on all the specific details.

I have a pair in a 3.5 gallon tank. She lays a new clutch almost every day! I bought an undergravel filter on Amazon and the airstone in the filter tube produces enough humidity to keep mine perfectly moist. The hanging filter that came with the tank is also in there and she laid eggs on that. She also lays them inside the floating betta log and on the gravel in thebottom of the tank. Pretty sure those were all laid underwater but I've moved them. Have 4 clutches in last 5 days. Waiting to see what will happen.

I should name my female "Speed Racer"..I've never seen snail that can move as fast as her. She laid eggs and I guess I will let them fall back into the tank that has no aggressive or large fish. Its a large tank though and I could use a few more snails to help eat algae and leftover fish foods. I dont feed live food..so its all flake and pellet and some meats like diced ( very diced) raw shrimp.

I went to lift my tank lid to fix something. My tank opens when you lift the lid if you want to feed the fish, in the top of my lid my snail was there next to eggs I didn’t recognize them at first but once I lifted the lid the snail fell, I don’t think it was done...... laying because I can still see some in its shell I feel very bad.

Not necessarily. The clutch becomes firm and dry to the touch not long after being laid. How long had the egg sacs been there? Don't be in a big hurry to judge them done.
