Standing rear choke. You gotta guy grabbing you by the throat from behind. First thing you do, you do not panic. You must not panic. Notice my hands are already at his hands. Why? Because I'm going to use this to survive. Survive meaning buy yourself an inch, or even just half an inch of space. Never expect to just yank the guys hand off. Assume he's stronger than you. So, I pull on his hand just a bit. At this point now, his hips are lined up with mine. All I need to do is squat. I squat and when I come back up, the attacker is on my hips. And now, I just throw him over. And that's a defense, the standing rear naked choke.

Very good video. Very clear and very simple. Easy to follow and straight to the point. Too many videos waste too much time with needless chat. This one doesn’t. It’s perfect.

FINALLY a good video on escaping the rear naked choke. The reason why I don't like the other videos is because they are have instructors that are speaking in a completely different language, they usually show you how to prevent getting in the rear naked choke as opposed to escaping it if they have already got it locked and they were too quick for you to stop them before they could completely lock it, and the examples are not realistic. The logic in this video is the logic that I go by. What I mean by that, is that it is true that, let's say you're a smaller target and a bigger person has got you in the hold - pulling their hands off you is not very easy if you don't got much muscle on you (like me). But when I was scouring through videos on KZbin on how to escape the rear naked choke and I found this after watching video after video, looking for one decent tutorial on how to escape this dangerous hold, and I found this, I wasn't expecting it to be much, since most Howcast videos are too simplistic in nature, however boy was I surprised when I watched this. Liked.

This is a tad late (7 months haha), but traditional Brazilian Jujitsu is a self-defense art. It is used primarily for the ground fighting aspect by mma fighters because it excels there, but the self-defense side (non-sport) has lots of realistic techniques.

@MobiusCoin
@MobiusCoin 9 жыл бұрын
viciousKev Hmmm... really depends on how much taller he is. If the difference in height is a child to a grown adult. There's not much you can do, a child can't really defend himself against an adult generally. But if it is just a few inches, I'd say make space by pulling on his choke arm, temporary as to give you time to try to sink to the ground, hook a leg to try to get him off balance. If he should fall and take you with him, that's fine. Being back mounted on the ground sucks, arguably the most vulnerable of ground positions, but there are still ways to work out of it.
@viciousKev
@viciousKev 9 жыл бұрын
MobiusCoin i was thinking hold his choking arm, and bring your legs up as high as you can. Swing them down, using the moment to bring him forward, your feet to the ground, and flipping him in one movement
@MobiusCoin
@MobiusCoin 9 жыл бұрын
viciousKev That might work. My only concern is that your hip might not be positioned in the right spot for the hip toss if you're suspended in the air. The reason the hip throw works so well on taller guys is that your hip is already lower than his. But that is on the ground. If he has picked you up, most likely your hips are at the same elevation or even higher depending on his height.

Im not sure about this but this is what I think. If he is taller, this still works. If he is stronger this still works. I have seen my instructor have to use it on someone taller and stronger and aggressive so those arguments are invalid. But the thing I'm not sure about is if he can move his body away from yours and you have your hands locked to his arms, you would just follow him. If he's leaning back there is actually another defense for this. This is just one defense.

And this is what happens when sport-trained "martial" artists teach self-defence. The attacker isn't always just going to let go with his left hand... if he holds on or grabs anything at all you will end up on the ground, still being choked. In real self-defense, not 1 on 1 macho cockfights where BJJ 1st got its dubious reputation, grappling on the ground is the worst place to be.

Additionally this reverses the prey predator mentality. You are no longer a victim. Will it work every time, probably not, but attempting something will change the course of the engagement. Additionally what trained artist would sneak up behind and choke an innocent victim in the street? I pose to you that the average combatant does not understand these principles... 🙏🏼

this works perfectly. i have been beaten and robbed once by 2 criminals. i didnt win the fight but i did this when one was choking me and the other punching me. i wished i could throw the choker on the puncher, but the puncher just didn't fall and then pulled me off his friend and on the ground to keep beating me on the ground. the technique worked perfectly and if there was just one aggressor he couldnt beat me after that as i was right over him punching his face.

In real life a situation like this it's almost impossible to get out. You have to be somewhat lucky. If the guy isn't wearing boots you first feel around and find his foot. There's a pressure point in the middle of the foot, after you find the foot aim your heel and stomp as hard as you can. In that instant you have a higher chance of finding one of his hands, reach for it and grab one of his fingers then you pull as hard as you can. You don't have much time but it's the best option when your opponent is much stronger that you and won't let up.

This is not practical. At all. Choke comes fast. Once it is deep and tight, there is no stopping it. I've choked out my friend who outweigh me at least 50lbs. As soon as i got his back, wrapped my arm around his neck, he was as good as a dead man. Took less than 9 seconds for him to pass out. Even if u put your chin down, it will only buy u time before i use your nose or eyes or even your chin to inflict excruciating pain before u give your neck up and I apply the choke for good. There is really no way out of it. Even professional fighters get choked out.
@killersalmon4359
@killersalmon4359 7 жыл бұрын
These aren't meant to be 100% guaranteed. The truth is, if someone attacks you from behind, you're behind, you're probably in deep trouble. If they manage to SINK in the choke, you're in really deep trouble. This works when the guy sort of messes up, and hasn't completely sunk the choke in. You're not supposed to wait around until the guy has the choke sunk in before you act - as soon as that arm comes over, you grab it, and launch the guy.

You do realize that you can fight dirty right? A lot of these MMA moves are designed for competition fighting. If you were getting choked and the choke was deep, stomp on the persons feet and try and break a toe or bite as hard as you can and if they do let go, just run off. Gouging out they're eyes is a good tactic too. Another thing is not everyone is a choke hold master on the streets so they will probably try and do a choke on you with really bad form, and that's where this move comes in.
