This works as long as the violators are sensible. If they genuinely don't care, they'll take the money or whatever offered and continue to do it or in the situation that I'm dealing with - they'll continue to have a high amount of traffic coming and going - that blast loud music from their cars at all hours of the night and early morning.
@donze527 жыл бұрын
living next to a trailer court for 44 years with my wife we have found drug pusher, hoods and illegals know if they keep the neighbors happy they can go about their business with much less cops at the door-- also works for most others who need wee bit of training just as you train a dog or horse to do what you want--
@exoticlady3scanines7 жыл бұрын
Good luck with that, you've found something that works for you. Me being female and trying that with males, they will be looking for some thing sexual. I tried being cordial and that does not work. What I've found that works for me, is being stern, showing them cut and dry that I'm serious and I don't tolerate any bs, period. Three examples: 1st, a neighbor used to rent the house across the street with his "gf/baby mother" and their daughters. There was a constant stream of noise from the yelling, music from the cars, fighting, glass breaking, etc. I tried being cordial, in turn he took it as an invitation to try to openly flirt with me. 🙄 They became backyard breeders and their dogs would constantly be out roaming the neighborhood. He'd try to intentionally agitate the pit by raking a shovel over concrete in front of it and kept it wearing weights. Him and his homies would constantly try to make open passes at me. 2nd, another crappy neighbor that rented the house next door. He seemed to be friends with the wonderful neighbor that lived across and he'd partake in trying to openly make advances at me too. 🙄 At one point, he got a dog that he kept in the backyard and at some point he moved out and left the dog chained in the backyard - with no food or water. I ended up rescuing the damn dog being that animal control didn't come in the 3 days that I called. Such wonderful examples of mankind, those neighbors are - with all of their noise pollution and contributing to the other behavior along with his fellow homie across the street. The dog had been wallowing in his own fecal matter as the heavy chain had gotten tangled. Yes, great people. You cannot reason with everyone, because not everyone are civilized, some people are absolute trash and anyone that mistreats animals or kids are the most disgusting individuals. As I've observed these same low life type mistreat their kids as well, but "hey" maybe your way works for you. I choose to get them TF out of my neighborhood. 3rd, another renter, him and his ever changing "gfs" they'd sometimes argue and fight. They'd have a constant stream of guests that would come and go at all hours blasting such wonderful music from their cars. Their house sits next to the bedrooms on my home. They were shooting guns one evening. 4th, another one - a renter, as with most renters (not all), they have a temporary mindset and do not think about whomever lives around them, so most (not all) lack respect. It is supposed to be an older mother (60+) and her (30+) daughter renting that home, with the daughters kids, but they keep a steady stream of traffic at all hours that blast music from their cars, yell, hangout in the front yard. And don't get me started on the uncouth, lazy, disrespectful, trifling heathens teenage boys that hang out there. Those parents don't care about their disgusting kids as long as they can text them. So your way works for you, but it really is based on who you're dealing with and if they'll want something more from you. You being a male will have a different outcome as if you were a woman, you may not have the same outcome in dealing with idiotic, disrespectful males. And, I'd rather not coddle anyone to try to pacify bad behavior. In many instances it only begets more bad behavior.

I normally do not read long comments, yours I did, and must say I give you much respect and would not want you to be my enemy with that said, I think kindness and talking should be plan (A) even if you must say at the same time--- this is what I want-- "nothing more or less from you"
@exoticlady3scanines7 жыл бұрын
I tried talking and it has only led to constant frustration. It comes down to some people's mentality, some people are just rude and were not raised with civility. Again, your way may work for you, but that does not work for every situation. Plus I can't pretend to be cordial with anyone that lacks common respect for others. Take care.

At one point a frustrated police officer investigating a dispute even hinted that a hit man might be the solution to everyones problem. Your solution worked wonders! The only problem, you didn’t give a tutorial on how to dispose of the bodies, so I’m flustered on what to do next!? Just kidding ;) ... I printed out my state laws re: ATV’s on public streets and tossed in a 5 dollar bill as a sign of goodwill, mailed it anonymously. No more obnoxious noise. Thanks for the tips!

Superglue? Superglue is removable with acetone - easily purchased from any supermarket. If someone wanted to, they could quite easily have removed your bike, no worries, including yourself - because it's not like you couldn't have cut that lock off. Three years? I am not a fan of rewarding bad behavior. Maybe it depends on the situation.
@donze5210 жыл бұрын
wisdom you write, still if a puppy is bad, a training is faster with treats, a bad neighbor is little more than a puppy mindset. untrained to care about others you can help them that may last for the rest of their lives. if it fails there is always plan B
@jmallett608110 жыл бұрын
So if I hear you correctly, give a pit bull a treat for being in a dog fight, treat him and he'll learn faster. What is the treat for really? Behavior doesn't reward wrong behavior continuously, don't treat, then the dog will think, oh, behave bad, no treat,, do I really want the treat, let's rethink why I receive. If humans don't think, monster dog.
@donze5210 жыл бұрын
J Mallett you speak wisdom, a dog or a man can be trained to be bad or good. Training with treats only makes it a game and puppies and people enjoy games. good behavior can be trained. see my short film ( battles without violence )

It has always amazed me that the owner of a dog will listen to their dog bark all day and it does not seem to bother them. They will defend the mutt not matter what. And, when you complain, you are the problem. Then when they need some help who's door do they knock on, YOURS.

I have several 'bad neighbours' all with dogs, every morning they let their dogs out into their gardens before they go to work. As soon as one dog goes out, it barks to call to see what other dogs are out in their gardens, before long they are all barking at each other. It settles down after a while, but by then I am already disturbed. I am retired and I looked forward to not be having to wake up at 6 am, but that dream has been ruined. Should I go round 5 or 6 neighbours and ask them all to get up earlier to take their dogs out for a proper walk, and then offer them money to do it, I think not. I might get one or two to do it, but I would not be able to afford to pay them all, even if they were all in agreement. This plan therefore has limitations, so I am happy to listen to affordable solutions? ( I have moved my bedroom to the back of the house and use earplugs, but when they all join in it's really noisy, and I still get disturbed) I don't have a dog ( although I like them) as I measured the negatives of dog ownership as outweighing the positives, but why should I,and others , suffer the negatives of others' dogs?

I recently retired and moved in to a somewhat rural area with a small cluster of homes (5 or 6). I have a bully neighbor who tells me what to do with my property, has been disrespectful on numerous occasions, and apparently views my kindness as a weakness. I don’t feel a need to be nasty and I really wish the best for the guy, however, being disrespected (and in my opinion abused) is not acceptable. I got him to stop his unacceptable behavior in a passive way....I found out that he put his fence illegally on our property line before we bought the property. I told another neighbor (she is the neighborhood gossiper) about this , his disrespectfulness, and my solution of putting up my own fence that he definitely wouldn’t have liked. As weeks came and went with out our usual impromptu ‘neighborly’ talks, we finally made eye contact as we were cutting our grass. I looked at him--he stared at me--I stared back without hesitation or change of expression. This exchange happened several more times in which it was obvious that I was creating and welcoming these situations. Now...he’s like a little puppy dog with his tail between his legs. Basically it was like punching a bully in his mouth but in a passive way.

@stevebutler8128 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure you understand his approach. He handed him the $20 in order to get the guy to listen to him, and also made it very clear he did not have to do anything. To get a person to listen to you with an open mind is not easy, and I'm a professional in mental health. His approach is very elegant. There is a form of therapy known as Cognitive-Behavioral, but it's all about change. This approach changed the dog-owner's behavior, but his initial offer of the $20 just to listen got the neighbor to listen from a perspective of willingness to actually hear what he was saying. It was risky, in that the neighbor could have treated him even worse, assuming he was an idiot who is throwing money away. But, it was worth the risk, and it's hard for most normal people to treat someone badly if they have a good feeling towards that person. Hence, when some person walks up to you and hands you $20 for just listening to them, it's going to be more difficult for the dog owner to just ignore the guy. It wasn't about buying him off as much as getting the person to listen / hear his problem, and change his attitude towards his neighbor.
@prissynonee19998 жыл бұрын
what you are calling cognitive behavior, or more importantly bribery for good behavior will only work for those who are willing to have their behavior modified...where I am coming from, forced to deal with the savages of the denizen 24/7...proof can be seen on my channel. I fully understand his approach, but good neighbor policy can't be bought w/ savages, they only return with more negative behavior expecting, or demanding payment...aka welfare system is based on this ideology but gone haywire, rife w/ corruption. Btw, never cared for Skinner and his outmoded sadistic theories of conditioning and has been proven wrong w/ the advances evolutionary biology, nuerobiology & nueropsychology.

Alexander: You are definitely RIGHT! Peace and Quietness is my Right! When I'm home , I want peace and quiet. Your home is your castle, regardless of where you live. I had some neighbors shoot fireworks all through the night, past 12 am as well as after 2:am. The neighbor across the street was someone that I knew; so I got up because I couldn't sleep, went to my door and hollered to them that they needed to go inside. They didn't. I got up after time passed, got dressed and went there, woman in her thirties, her male friend, her 11 year old son, and OMG her 3 year old daughter still shooting fireworks. She stated to me we are going in in a little while. I didn't get any sleep that night and had to be at work the following morning at 8:am. I had developed a tension headache that lasted all day! When I got home that evening which was the next day; I worked in my yard tying up and removing small branches, weeds, vines and other cuttings., I was constantly jumping every time that a firecracker that was shot. When I finished ; I went to the house across the street that was shooting them. Two teenaged girls were the culprits. I told them that they needed to go inside. I informed them that I wasn't going to listen to that noise tonight, which was after 9pm. They continued and I called the P.O. P.,O. finally came after I called a Sergeant. P.O. , too kindly informed them that they really weren't supposed to be shooting fireworks . Culprits mammy and her lover came out, got nasty, talked nasty to me because I wanted them to know that I was SICK and TIRED of their continued noise. P.O. left and they went back to shooting them. I called P. O. again and the officer gave them an example affidavit of DISTURBING the PEACE and informed them that I would file charges if their noise continued. SO FAR, IT HAS BEEN PEACEFUL!!!!!! I intend to do some more things with GOOD NEIGHBORS to make this the norm as well as other issues being addressed, heard, executed and resolved !!!!!

She apologized and immediately took the Wind Chimes down and thanked me for coming over to ask her about the problem. THANK YOU MR. BILL. I have since used your tip a number of times and shared your knowledge with Family Members and Friends. It is amazing what $20 or something simple can get a positive outcome from others. This guy is smart. You get more bees with honey so you speak.. On the flip side there certain types of neighbours that can’t be talked down. They thrive on drama and live for starting it with people because they hate their own lives. Telling them you are annoyed about what they are doing can be the worse thing you can do sometimes. The back of my yard ends on a home and a cul-de-sac. The people living on that house used to dump beer cans onto my yard when they had parties. I was getting tired of it but I'm to busy to do something about it. About two months ago one of their rabbits escape and my dog started to chase it on my yard. I grab my dog and gave them permission to catch the rabbit. In the past two months they had at least 5 big parties and I haven't found another beer can. Sometimes they just need to put a friendly face on that big fence to stop the bad behavior.

Lived in Raleigh, NC next door to a renter. She had two BiG yapping dogs. Could not use my back deck because of their constant barking. Asked that she move them to other side of yard or take them inside for awhile. Her response....”they are dogs, they are supposed to bark”. TAPE RECORDED them. Next grill on our deck.. with yapping dogs....set tape recorder next to fence... full volume...so friggin dogs were barking at themselves. Three minutes... her damned dogs were inside. Mission accomplished. . Try it.... it works....

David Spennachio for 42 years wife and I don't pay for respect but rather use it as a training tool forpeople who's parents forgot to teach that. not a forever thing, just for training and it works so far for us.

Mr. Bill seems like a cool guy who knows how to deal with all kinds of people, and he makes a VERY good point. Sadly this just goes to show everyone has an angle. It also shows that if you want to be successful in life you have to give people a reason to value you. If you have something someone wants they're a slave to you...and the level of that slavery is based on HOW MUCH they need it. Just ask the guy dying of thirst on an island next to another guy with the last glass of water. The more you an leverage things in your direction the better you'll be because the easiest way for someone to get what they need is what they'll do. If they have no need of you or what you can provide they'll do what THEY Want..and most of the time it's not what you want. That's humans for ya. Now that I've done all the mental psychology on this vid, what's really interesting about this video is how normal it seems to have this many problems, and more specifically, these KINDS of problems. Shouldn't a normal life be without them for the majority of time? Or is that just my perspective from living a somewhat charmed life? I certainly don't deal with any of them, but then again I live in a nice area with cool people for the most part. But whatever.

+MrMemyselfandi415 thanks for comment, I have found though I have less trouble with neighbors than some of my well to do friends living on the rich side of McCook with rich bad neighbor. Trick is to give them a reason to do what you want without making them feel forced or used. -- see my film ( battles without violence ) on donze52

+donze52 That was a good video, but all of your videos are interesting to watch. But you're exactly right. "The trick is to give them a reason to do what you want them to do without making them feel forced or used". Motivators...money...power....sex....ego. It's a lot of manipulation and I have a hard time looking at the world through that lens all the time, but it is smart. The thing is..you do that long enough you start to get jaded. But....it is the way things are. As for your other video...you said something to that young man about him having sex with his father in return for what he said to you .....but the thing is...that could have led to a nasty violent scene if it had been with the wrong person. So although I appreciate you using your words to try and work the situation out, I still don't see how that wouldn't simply escalate the situation into more trouble. I guess it depends on the person and the situation....the people around etc. You seem like a happy guy though, and that's not a very common thing to see these days. God bless.

+MrMemyselfandi415 -- the youth blasted my mother so I returned it, with his friend there, they made fun of him and the battle was lost for him hoping I would show anger or curse him. words can be a deadly weapon, and can destroy or they can save you but I never forget I will have to answer for everyone, and might even be sent to HELL. I remember the passage ( many will say Lord, Lord-- he will say I never knew you

+donze52 That's the hard part. How do you live as Jesus commanded..by being gentle as doves and wise as serpents? It's not easy. Glad it worked out for you. I have a feeling it will continue to..because you mean well and you're disarming which goes a LONG ways in this world. Diffusing a situation is a real talent lots of people would do well to learn. I'd do well to perfect it as well.

I love this!!! I had some TERRIBLE neighbors years ago who just might have gone for a deal like this. I tried many times to talk to them about the loud music at 2 to 3:00 in the morning, to no avail. It was in a trailer park and their power meter was on the same pole with mine. One night at about 3:30, the music had been booming extra loud for over an hour. I went out and shut off their power and went back into my house with no response to their angry screaming. After a few minutes their power came back on but no music. From that point on there was never a problem with their music again. Also they were very friendly to me when they would see me outside, and there was never a mention of that night.
