Most guys don't think it's possible to get to 8% body fat after 50... They think their metabolism is too washed up, or they have to live in the gym, or take some "enhancement" to get those kinds of results... Not True! And in today's video one of our new Live Anabolic trainer's John Shumate will take you through his routine that helped him get (and keep) a steady 8% body fat...

Great stuff, I’m 55 lifetime natural. My bodyfat is single digits year round without any extreme sacrifice on my part. I train 6 days a week, i do 20-30 minutes on the tread Before each workout . 4-5 mph nothing crazy. I have eggwhites and pineapple preworkout, 4 whole Eggs , potatoes, lean sausage post workout. I avoid all dairy, i avoid all wheat, flour, grains cereals. I eat lots of fruit, meats and vegetables. My typical lunch is polo tropicsl half chicken with large plantains, red and black beans. I eat the chicken skin. Im never hungry and dont count calories. I believe in eliminating all food that causes allergic reactions and inflammation. If i eat something and i feel sluggish or tired its eliminated. I eat a lot of clean non processed food and strip bodyfat off too quickly if im not careful. I beleive its more about what you should avoid over calories.. processed sugar is bad, sugar from whole fruit is good. Anything that a human wouldnt eat i avoid, you would never eat a stalk of wheat or oats from a field , rice is also pretty inedible in its raw form. This works easily for me, It may work for others if they try it.

A Very good explanation! Honest. Espacially about SUGAR, In Poland they say, the white death. Of course, there is always exceptions to rules, that is, if you are a tour de France rider

Man, you're amazing. I have been working out for years and did the Ripped After 40 Program. Then Covid his last March and the gym closed. I tried to keep it up with the equipment I had at home. I was doing so well but spring came and I threw myself into landscaping, gardening and tree work on my property. Actually it was a real work out.I was hauling and lifting a lot. Now all the fall chores are done and I was using my chain saw cutting logs, hauling and splitting wood. I was also lifting and moving late planters inside and I somehow injured my right shoulder and aggravated an old injury. I was just starting to work out inside but now I have to let the injury heal. I can do legs and abs and may some other light dumbbell work. I am not sure. What do you think. I rarely snack and eat pretty clean. I am 67, weigh about 169 and am 5''7". I agree, discipline is the key. I have not problem with eating things that are sweet. I rarely eat sugary foods. I'd rather eat veggies and protein and whole grains. I can't wait for this shoulder to heal, feels like a a muscle strain or tendon injury. I love your videos! Thanks man!

@John Shumate I watched some videos on YT about shoulder injuries and learned a lot. I am actually on the mend and I had this injury before from overexertion of lifting something the wrong way. The shoulder is much better and from past injuries I knew that this is not the time to jump back in. The YT videos gave some great light exercises to address a number of shoulder issues. Thanks so much for checking in. If it worsens I will see my DR. Stay well, live well.

Dude as you cut down the calories the metabolism slows down within a month. That's why what you said doesn't work. The most important thing is to have high-quality protein at an increased rate(2.5G/KG) like eggs & fish. Because of Anabolic Resistance & the decline of testosterone & HGH, the need for protein increases with age.

I thought having your body fat measured in a pool was the most accurate way to do that and calipers were not very accurate vs a pool.

I'm 53 and lifting heavy for decades...You have to start exercise. Forget the pink dumbbels. Lift real weights. It's the best stimulus for gaining muscle even for older guys. Try to focus on clean eating.

1000 calories a day? That's too low...even for rapid weight loss.
