How to get weapon unlocks in Battlefield 2 Singleplayer

This is my 'how to - step by step' guide on how to use unlock weapons in the singleplayer version of battlefield 2. Its a very simple process and does not involve downloading anything. Below is the guide:
Unlocking weapons for singleplayer in Battlefield 2
* BACKUP ALL FILES BEFORE EDITING ** READ THE NOTES AT THE BOTTOM **
Step 1.
Find your Battlefield 2 folder
My computer Local Disk (C:) Program Files EA GAMES Battlefield 2
Step 2.
Go into the following folders
Battlefield 2 mods bf2
Step 3.
In the mods folder you should see an "Objects_server.zip" zip file. [BACKUP THIS FILE ON YOUR DESKTOP]
Step 4.
Inside the zip file is a folder called Kits. Take this out of the zip file and, right click the folder Properties uncheck the Read Only box.
Step 5.
Inside the Kits folder are sub folders with "ai, ch, EU, FallingKitParts, Mec, and US [all you want to worry about is the US, Mec, and ch folders
Step 6.
Go into the folder of your choice and there are .CON files for each of the 7 kits.
Step 7.
Open these files in a text editor [Notepad] do NOT use wordpad, microsoft word or others.
Step 8.
At the bottom of the file is a line of text saying "ObjectTemplate.unlockLevel 1" change the 1 to a 0 to make the G36C the default weapon.
There is another line saying "ObjectTemplate.unlockLevel 2" change the 2 to a 0 to make the SCAR-L the default weapon.
YOU CAN ONLY ENABLE ONE UNLOCK AT A TIME, CHANGING THEM BOTH TO 0 WILL NOT WORK (I know I've tried)
Step 9.
Save this file ([file save] or [Ctrl + S]) and do the same for the other 6 kits.
Step 10.
The Kits folder that you have edited, replace back into the zip folder in the bf2 directory.
Start the game and enjoy the unlocks.
** NOTES ** NOTES ** NOTES ** NOTES ** NOTES ** NOTES ** NOTES ** NOTES
1. Always backup file which you are editing. In case you mess up you will be able to try again.
2. The small chunk of text named UnlockUSSpecops, the one with 3 lines of text, is the first unlock. (BF2) (G36C etc.)
3. The large chunk of text named UnlockUSSpecops2, the one with 5 lines of text, is for the second unlock. (BF2:SF) (SCAR-L etc.)
4. If you wish to play on Multiplayer, swap the edited Kits folder with an unedited version, or you may get banned by PunkBuster.
5. Do not edit any other text in the documents unless you know what yo are doing.
6. Although the game shows you can only choose the default weapons, when you choose a kit and spawn you will have the unlocked weapon.
7. I recommend right clicking on the "bf2" folder inside the mods folder and creating a shortcut onto your desktop, this is for easy navigation to this directory.
8. For this modification, I made an offline singleplayer account just to be on the safe side.

Worked just fine but cannot cycle through all the weapons. I believe only the best weapon is made available per kit. None the less, thank you. You prevented me from uninstalling the game and enjoying it further more.

Did you do it as the video instructed. What version of BF2 do you have. Ensure it is patched to version 1.51 because thats the version I used.

There are two parts at the bottom of the US_Sniper document, there is Object Template Unlock level 1 and Object Template Unlock level 2. number 2 is for the SF unlock, you need the Special Forces expansion pack. Change that figure to 0 and it should work.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can set an unlocked weapon on Battlefield 2 And Special Forces. I think when you edit the code for the unlock it works on both Battlefield 2 and Special Forces anyway.

I have only tried this using Battlefield 2 Deluxe Edition with the 1.51 Patch installed. It should work if you only have Battlefield 2 installed. Try patching to 1.51 because that's the version I used.

I haven't tried it on anything but BF2 patch 1.5. I can't remember whether I mentioned this but never do this with multiplayer accounts because you can probably get banned for modifying game files. Um, I only think it will work for disc copies of BF2. :thumbup:

To open the file window need to know what program you want to use to open it. windows can go onlines to look it up automatically or you can manualy celect a list of programs that are installed on your on your computer. How i do?

Do you have the Battlefield 2: Special Forces expansion pack. You only get ObjectTemplate.unlockLevel 2 with that expansion pack because unlockLevel 2 is the second unlock, the special forces weapons.

It works but it's not the best way. You do all this, one class at a time but this only makes you choose a gun per class in advance. When you play the game you only have that gun you put in the files, you cannot change it in the act. And can't see the real gun you're using, also. I know there is another (easier) way to unlock the guns and to choose it in-game, but I don't remember how was it. I've done it in the past, but I forgot. I'll keep looking. Thanks for the efforts anyway.

I did. It worked, but I did not get "Jackhammer" for engineer, instead I have "MP7" and for sniper it's written as "Barrett 50 cal" but I dont have it. Why is that?

For the engineer kit you would have ObjectTemplate.unlockLevel 1 and ObjectTemplate.unlockLevel 2. Changing the Level 1 to a 0 will give you the Jackhammer and changing the Level 2 will give you the MP7 ensure you check that. As for the Barret 50 cal that is the M95 but I do not understand your question for that.

Worked but something is buggy , i can play and have the main guns unlocked on every kit but the funny thing is i can play only sniper and anti-tank becouse on other kits if i want to change weapon for example to knife or other thing the game just shut downs.

Dude you are awesome, now that the multiplayer servers got shut down (not that I used them anyways) I can finally use these new weapons! I gotta say though, I was kinda surprised to see only one chunk of lines instead of the "two" that you spoke about. Turns out those are for the Special Forces pack. Most weapons were a bit of a let down though, specially the Assault rifle (how is it "assault" if there's no Noob tube?! Yeah I kind of use it sometimes, it's pretty fun) Oh and yeah, great shame that the bots also get the unlocked weapons, I wanted to be special! D: But being the weapons sort of a let down aside, this tutorial was helpful nonetheless. I'm gonna search for the Special Forces pack and try it again next time.

Ok Thanks good to hear that I helped. I didn't mention though that the bots will have the unlocks as well as your player and I use it because I don't like the bots using the shotguns.

I did this differently (and more efficiently) in the demo by going into a certain file, finding the right line of code, and changing the 0s to 1s. It works better than yours (there are no padlock icons) but you can only switch between 2 different primary weapons. I can't seems to make an online account, though. help?
