Focus during menopause is a REAL struggle. I think part of my struggle with focus also has to do with my LACK of sleep. I am waking up multiple times during the night and it seems to take a while to get back to sleep.

When I was going through menopause and the interrupted sleep, I did a few things: took 3mg slow release melatonin about an hour before bedtime, a cup of sleepy time or chamomile tea, a warm shower just before bed, a small table fan on my bedside table, no electronics an hour or two before bed and keeping the temp in our bedroom to 62F during the cold months but keep layers of blankets on the bed. Those little things really helped, especially when the night sweats were horrible! And I also exercised first thing in the morning before getting ready for work, it helped start my day and to focus.

Also, please look into vitamins to take for mental clarity/focus/brain fog. Of course consult your doctor but there are natural supplements out there to combat that.😊

I’ll be 72 in a month so I’m way past menopause but focus is an issue I struggle with also. You’ve shared some great ideas, some of which I’m already doing-if I don’t write it down it’s probably not happening 😊. Prioritizing what’s important is one of the biggest blessings. Family first, chores later. Thanks for letting us into your life.

This a timely video for me. A diagnosis of a wonky parathyroid is offering challenges. 🥰 Clearly this spoke to many of us in similar situations. When I started that season 10-12 years ago (wow!!) I kept paper and pen nearby at all times. I could hardly make it to another room without forgetting something. And simplifying my times of rest, solitude, activities was critical over the next (past) 10 years. There are certain days/times that I guard from distractions. All great tips, and I love seeing the comments below from others who can empathize. Thanks for these mid-week boosts of encouragement and wisdom. Hugs!!

12:00 Ask for help. This is so true. I am a caregiver to both of my parents and I would run errands, do housework, take care of my parents, in addition to taking care of the yard. Well, we hired a gardener because I was running myself ragged. So glad we have a gardener. That relieves a lot of stress on me!
@AquaFrost7772 жыл бұрын
Caregiving is so difficult. I hope you are able to take a little time off every week for yourself, get a massage or pedicure. People who have never been caregivers of patents have no clue how truly draining it can be. However, it is also so rewarding and a beautiful gift your parents.

Nikki, this is one of your best videos, and I love them all! I'm guessing you and I must be very close in age. I think it boils down to this...give yourself grace! Embrace where you're at in life. Do the best you can, at your pace, and rest when you need to. I'm bad at pushing through a nap phase, when in reality, I would be refreshed and have a better attitude to do more if I just went with it. I'll have to refer back to this video from time to time. XO

It’s been tough to get back to showering first thing. Wow! I’m really impressed with how much helpful advice you were able to give in a short time! I was going through changes in recent years and had made many of these adjustments gradually and sometimes painfully. But having them listed one after another is helpful, because in the last year more changes are requiring more adaption. I have felt guilty at times for not being able to do what I did in the past. Our bodies and health change, makes sense that our habits and self expectations would need to adapt as well. I’m finding that taking a nap when needed, benefits not only my physical accomplishments, but my emotional well-being. It’s helped to remember how the children were cranky when they were tired, and make myself take a nap or a retreat so that I will be at my best and not cranky. Thanks it’s so helpful to have this, and I’m going to watch it again, probably take notes!

Wow, Nikki! This was just what I needed to hear today! I have done fairly well with establishing routines, but when something or someone throws them off, it takes me a while to get back in the groove! I never associated menopause with the lack of focus. I had a hysterectomy at age 46, and was on hormone replacement therapy until I was 60. Now at 70, I still occasionally have the hot flashes and loss of focus. That’s where established routines really help. Love all your fabulous tips!

Dear Nikki, Oh,MY!! I am so glad I found you, again!! I was subscribed and didn't even know it!! We have recently moved back to Augusta, GA from Houston, TX, to retire, because our Son and his family live here. Well, we have downsized and it has been a nightmare. My brain just shut down and I cannot get it together. My husband, bless him, went back to work because, as he puts it "get out of the mess and the stress" ! We too have moved all over with my husband's career. In fact, we lived in Charleston, when Navel station was still there. My husband was on Nuclear subs. Anyway, I also am a designer (retired) if that is possible...but for the 1st time in all our moves it just is not happening. I have taken none of the advice I would give to a client and our home is just chaos! Your video was such a sweet spot in the road....thank you for your channel. ❤from GA

I even tried to celebrate my hubby’s bday 2 days early cuz I simply lost focus and was in a Fog most days. It has smoothed out now thankfully, but I do have to be very intentional, very mindful of what I need to do and when, else I will be that one in the room saying “now what was I doing” all day long 😂. So thank you for your perspective and tips to help. I will be sending this video to my Friend-girls 😉🥰😉
