Here in The States I see, a couple of times a week now, where someone bought that $100-$150+ kit from Amazon or even the auto parts store now and try this instead of (before) calling a professional. It will cost more because we have to put it as close to the original damage as possible first,it most likely won’t have as good an outcome and then add the money wasted on the cheap made in China crap. So please avoid all this and go to a professional. Diminished value from a painted panel on a nice car is a scam here. ❤

Excellent vid and presentation. Quality PDR like this is an art form. A great skilled trade for young people to consider getting into, there will always be a need for this service, doesn't matter if cars are gas powered, electric, flying they will always get dents.

Subscribed a couple of vid's back... top work - expensive kit as with most named PDR stuff, never knew the temperature settings for panel and glue so something new I have learnt... I am a mechanic now going semi retired but love to watch PDR and GPR, it is a real art, harder to do than re-paint in my opinion.

This is awesome. How would i or what do you recommend i do to find someone who does this? Is there a certification or something? I’m in Tampa Florida area. My TRX Truck just got dents from trees branches during this hurricane Milton that hit Florida. About 5 of them and they are all on the the thin section of panel that runs around windows from down by windshield to above the doors. All of them are only round dents the size of a quarter but one of them looks like it was hit with a hammer and almost has a crease in it. It’s depressing me. There isn’t paint damage somehow. Who and what am i looking for ,how do i know who would be qualified to do this?

Hi Sharad. I’m sure I mention all this in the video. But mainly I use Flex collision glue. And Jujitsu mega power glue (Dark Green colour) hope this helps

How would you proceed with a similar dent but the paint has been chipped right in the middle?

2 ways, inform the customer that the paint has been compromised and it could be glued but there’s a high chance more paint MAY come off Or use bars on the rear side to push the dent out. Always make the customer away before starting a repair like that. You don’t want to feel responsible for damaging the vehicle further. PDR is a method repair like filler and paint

Totally agree. Maybe less in the US depending on source. I was guessing $250 which is still about $100 an hour. Plus traveling time. Body shop labor is only $45 an hour now which I think is pitiful. Then the shop owner gets half of that. PDR can be quite profitable if you are good and fast.

In the USA ,the respray never matches exactly and goes on the carfax and drops the value of the vehicle, plus the bonds is bad.

Hi. If you pull paint off using glue and tabs then the paintwork is not right. Only glue pulling required a car panel if it has factory paint

Yes exactly. It takes years of practice and a lot of investment in the tools to be able to carry out a repair like this. Your not paying for the 1hour that it took, your paying for the 20 years experience I regularly go to Bodyshops to magic dents out for them, while they are filling and repainting jobs I can fix within a few hours. They cost more because of the labour, parts, paint and business costs. It’s not fair to say (I know you didn’t btw) that the PDR person is too expensive because they are literally magic-ing the damage out and keeping your vehicle original I don’t think you can out a price on such a service Thank you for your good comment

2-3 hours for $310 is actually cheap as most shops charge $180 US dollars per hour. I guess there is not a lot of money in PDR, I will stop my wanting to learn this stuff and investing in tools lol, I will just buy cheap tools for DIY.

If your in the USA then PDR is very lucrative The stuff I’m repairing (big and complex) in the uk we are lucky to breach 1k In the USA with the help of carfax, the same repair would be 3-4k or more I wish we had carfax in the uk as we could get higher prices from the insurance, insurance in the uk isn’t totally differant So I’d say learn PDR quick and start smashing it 🙌🏼

Lets say you take 6 to 10 hrs at 95 bucks an hour, still decent. Its like when I restore the leather on a set of Daytona Ferrari Bucket seats, its anywhere between 95 to 125 per hour. They are paying to keep it as original as possible vs replacement or in this case respray. We all know that side would have to be blended if that would be the case.

A lot of the time people don’t like paying because the repairs are so quick But they are paying for the 20 years of knowledge and the repair is a non evasive and quality repair with no repainting! Just people compare price with time taken and don’t think they are getting value for their money. I’ve even had customers say no to a price because my price is the same as a repair and paint- so instead of a PDR which would take 3 hours, they opt for a 3 day repair with filler and paintwork The mind boggles
