How To Grow Spider Plants From Seed

In this episode I will show you how to pollinate the spider plant flowers, make seeds, then grow them. Its a simple method and its pretty rewarding. Spider plants are pretty robust plants and can grow well from seed! They are easy and fun to pollinate too.

gift them to others or experiment with them, a really full planter thats like 18inches with multiple plants in it, once they make babies that hang all around. it looks really amazing. so maybe shoot for that!

Thank you for this information. I am going to buy some seeds and do what you did. In Phoenix it's hard to find a good looking plant at most of the stores. I had a few plants many years ago where I had three levels of pots from the runners and they looked great on my patio.

@@TechplantChannel Mine loves rain water & a over night soak in the bath tub. I wrap the stems together to stop them & the babies from breaking off. They hang down ,its a really pretty plant. I have done cross breeds ,from the darker green leaves to the ones with the stripes .

My spider plant was dying hanging in my window inside so I was ready to chuck it and put it outside , it started dying but producing babies and flower , I think it was just acclimating , it’s doing better now . Will I not need to pollinate tho bc of bees doing it for me?

I was given a baby spider off spring. It grew large and non variegated . I cut off 4 babies and propagated them. One grows seeds. Why only one?

U can wait until they dry out, the pod will open itself up so that the seeds can fall out.

Way to much dirt on top, only cover seed 2-3 times the seeds size, ex. if your seed is a 1/4 inch in diameter than plant 1/2-3/4 inch deep. those seeds were tiny, for small seed there is no reason to even cover them just push them in enough to make good soil contact & water. You want them to germinate fast & come poking out to receive the rays they need to make food. Take a look at your local master gardeners website or Facebook page. Don't assume you know everything like most guys do.
