Me just over here having a bit of breakdown, crying to my hamster. She’s still stressed even though I just moved to her to a 620 square inch cage, with multiple sand baths, hideouts, toys, driftwood, and lots of bedding. She’s got three different substrates, I give her mealworms, veggies, herbs, fruit and homemade treats and she’s still frustrated. It’s so hard because I know that she just wants to be a free little hamster and I don’t blame her, but I’m trying my best to give a good life, but she just wants to escape. Even when I give her free roaming time, all she’s trying to do is escape my room so she can be free and I totally understand, I would want to be too . But It honestly breaks my heart a little. I can’t even stick my hand in the cage without her trying to climb my arm to get out. I wish I could upgrade to a bigger cage but I just upgraded it and I can’t afford to go bigger right now. Ughhhh I just want her to be happy 😭
@ansp0h4 жыл бұрын
You can make bin cages. Look them up because they are a really cheap way to make MASSIVE cages. It depens on the size of the bin on how big you want to make the cage but basically you just need 2 big bins cut one side and stick them together. If you need any other help search it up or you can even ask me if you want (I'll answer with what i know). It's been two weeks since you posted this so i guess you found a solution but still pls keep me updated.

Thank you for this video. Misinformation online about hamster care is astonishing. A website suggested only keeping a hamster wheel in the cage for a couple hours to prevent over exercising. Like wait what?! Where do people come up with this stuff? 😩

My Syrian and my robo dwarf both got cage upgrades a few days ago and are both doing amazing!! They're both in large bin cages now, which look super cool thanks to blue and purple carefresh! My Syrian was previously in a rat cage but all she was doing was biting the bars and climbing to the top and falling off from the top even though she had tons of chew toys and enrichment :( and the cage was $150 😭 such a rip off, as the new bins from Walmart were only $20 each! There's enough room in the cages for both a wheel and a saucer and tons of tubes and bendy bridges and toys! Me and the hammies are super happy!

Thanks for replying to a comment about my "sick" hamster. I think he feels great now. My hammy is in a very big tote...extra large see through. He has all the fixings but since he came here from his tiny cage at the store, he seems to do nothing but try to escape by scratching and jumping on the walls. I have plenty for him to do. Stumped.

Victoria Raechel I (being only 12) cannot afford to get enough bedding for my hamster and my parents said I am lucky enough to have a big cage made for me and to stop asking for too much ): I understand that bedding can be expensive but is there any solutions? I try homemade bedding but I often need my mum to help and she is quite busy.
@VictoriaRaechel5 жыл бұрын
@@krazykoala7329 Thing is if you have a large cage using a ton of bedding barely gets wasted since it really ever has to be cleaned out full.

Question: I've been shopping around for play sand for a while and I keep finding warnings on all of them about silica/quartz dust. I wondered if you had thoughts on that. I instead just ordered some feldspar-based play sand from a brand called Sandtastik, and that's silica/calcium/quartz-free and supposed to be minimal dust. Would love you hear you speak to this!

I really wish I had access to this kind of information when I got my first hamster (16 years ago). It’s sad looking back & finding out I didn’t take proper care of my hamsters. I blame myself, my parents & the pet store for purchasing an animal with such little information. I’m so glad there’s information so no one else will put another hamster through hell in their very short life span. Thank you for providing much needed info for pet owners ❤

@VictoriaRaechel6 жыл бұрын

Incredibly good! My hamster gets 1 dried mealworm per day :) you can feed live but would have to chop their heads off so they don’t bite the hamsters pouch! Although I don’t recommend it since you would have to watch them with it and make sure they eat it

@hannahnorth37496 жыл бұрын
Are the pellets fillers? What kind of food did you buy? If they are actually protein blocks... try not feeding her more mix until she eats the pellets. Maybe she's picky.

@@giselle4961 oh I just switched from that to sunburst to see if my hammies like it. When I had it my hammies wouldn't eat the alfalfa pellets either. Don't worry about it because those are just fillers! Fillers are tasteless and don't have much nutritional value. Companies use fillers to make it look like there's more food in the bag, encouraging people to buy it. How's you hamster doing? Happy I hope🙂
