Nice job there Les good points....Personally I always try to get to those slopes especially if windy, but often wonder if I'm getting busted more often than not. Man that 22-250 has authority... Whop!

Just got through yesterday sighting in my .22-250. Yes it is the right now round. Super fast. Great hunt and good tips for the wind.

I shoot 17 Remington and I know what your talking about when it comes to being a "right now" round and my 17 hits them fast with a good solid pop, but nothing like 22-250 does. Every time I see a 22-250 hit a coyote more times than not I just say 'that sucker isn't going anywhere, Lights out, Good night Irene...haha

I have a friend who likes to watch some of the channels with me, mostly airgun and a few powder-burner channels, like yours. He wants to know if you ever consider trying to take an 'ethical' shot, either in the head or a somewhat quick death by-way-of a heart/lung shot? I responded to him with a simple, "Damn, Dave... dead is dead, right?" But he is REALLY into being as humane as possible regarding his taking of game. So, he wants to know if it is something you ever try to achieve, or do you not care if the animal suffers more that it needs to?

@Michel J. Gaudet judging by your question, I have to wonder if you & your friend bothered to watch the video to the end. Or did you stop as soon as you seen the coyote begin spinning? I happen to know for a fact that Les Johnson is quite ethical with his shots. Towards the end of the video, he clearly stated that the bullet went through the upper leg (shoulder). Which, on a coyote, the heart/lungs are between the shoulders. So, it was a "ethical" shot, as you put it. To believe otherwise, simply because the coyote spun for a few seconds, tells me that neither of you have ever shot a coyote...or at least not more than one. Quite often, even with a bullet going through heart or lungs, coyotes spin & many times even run for a short distance before dying. It's due to adrenaline. Not an unethical shot.....As for a head shot...That would be a careless shot to take on a windy day. Especially on a moving coyote. After all, you would be trying to perfectly hit a tennis ball sized target. If there was little to no wind, and a stationary coyote, then fine. But otherwise, the logical & most ethical shot is right where Les put the bullet... the chest. And with the wind & moving target, he had to actually lead the coyote in order to make that perfect shot. So don't call the man unethical. Personally, I would enjoy seeing you or your friend do as well as Les did/does.

@@willhorting5317 Hmmm_ wasn't ME asking the question, buddy. I personally always go for the head shot... or the spine... unless it's a skunk - NEVER a head shot for skunks. I would pass you 'answer' along to the friend asking four years ago, but he's dead now. And I miss my friend. Take care.
