Would have been risky since he would have been driving it without registration or insurance Kinda scary to drive cross country with a foreign car that is not in your name
@Hpno
@Hpno 4 жыл бұрын
@@Sebastian-eg5iu No, that would be illegal and I'm sure you wouldn't make it but a few miles before you would get stopped and unable to continue without a tow truck. I had to get insurance through my own company on the car I was buying before I even left the states. That way I was able to go to the Canadian DMV with my proof of insurance and get a temporary registration so I would be legal and covered the entire drive back home (which was over 1k miles for me). A few hours of your own time spent doing research, making a couple phone calls and putting in the footwork can save you thousands.

I imported an Autozam AZ-1 from Japan to Tennessee and I spent so much on the back end of the car (everything other than the car) I worried I dug a financial pit but I learned three things from this video. 1: it's definitely worth just getting a service to do everything for you. 2: every DMV agent is a roll of the dice and don't take their words for how to do something because another might accept your paperwork as is. 3: being able to drive that car with a smile on my face makes it all worth while. But I am CONSTANTLY anxious that something will go wrong and I won't know how to fix it

A little older than you. 1980 was the last year BEFORE uniform adoption of the current 17-digit VIN code. In the late 1990s I had a "pre-VIN" collector car, and ran into several problems with companies not able to deal with that because their computers REQUIRED a 17-digit VIN#. Something to be aware of.

Reasons I love living in Canada: 1. It’s the friendliest county in the world (if you don’t count the French parts) 2. 15 year import law 3. My Nissan Stagea 4. My Nissan Pulsar GTiR 5. My Nissan Terrano R3mR Diesel 6. My Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo 7. My Nissan Skyline R34 GTR 8. The Mountains 9. Pepperoni and Mushroom Hot Pockets. If you want to do a show on any of them (minus the hot pockets) hit me up, they’re all fun rides! P.S - If Nissan’s aren’t your thing don’t stress- I’ve got a pair of 2001 Honda Preludes… one is Turbocharged and the other is running a Jackson Racing supercharger.

That was an expensive old Nissan 200 SX with a weird right side steering wheel. Ever hear of the *sunk cost fallacy* ? I learned from it from my very first used car a looooong time ago. I got suckered into buying it and it cost me a hell of a high price to continuously fix it. I ended up junking it after wasting over $5,000. This video reminds me of that bad time.

You could have cut corners in a lot of places like going through a united states importer, but this car is impossible to find in the U.S in that condition. If you guys go through a U.S based importer it should actually be pretty easy. It will still be relatively expensive but not over 12k extra bad. Also when I know I'm going somewhere that I can't get instant help for my car best believe I'm bringing extra everything.
