Riding with people better than you is by far the #1 tip imo. I spent several weekends with friends riding (love them, but they're newbies, newer tahn me anyways) and I found that I wasn't really pushing myself that much and got spooked easily. Spent one day with a bunch of people who were blazing past me, and I pushed my comfort levels so much and felt like I doubled my skill in one day, way more comfortable on steeps, icy, and with speed. Now I just gotta find someone to mentor me in the park!

Best vids ive ever seen you do man! From the advice to seeing the failures, this is what a snowboarder is. If you want to be good put the time in but be prepared to fall. Its part of the game, best advice you gave was not being embarrassed to fall in front of everyone. These words are so true. Most parks are located right under a lift so you cant be afraid to try new things. If you fall so whatt, get back up lol really great video man, im hyped to finally be back on the snow after a year of recovery. Just wanted to thank you for the motivation and inspiration. I started getting into bulletproof coffee with your help watching old vids. Never drank coffee in my life , I'm 34 . Loving the bulletproof . I had just put an order in the day before you got your promo code . I placed another order anyway with your code the next day. Happy to support The Dream any way i can ........ on another note I was wondering how I never saw you before at mt snow , then it hit me . I remembered last season seeing someone with a camera throw a nolly front flip of the up box . I was so pumped watching from the lift , I yelled out loud . I don't have any inverted tricks , since then I have been practicing the nolly front . I blew my right peck muscle partially off the tendon 4 yrs or so ago on a 60 ft step up at Jay , doc said it was unrepairable . Since then I backed off larger hits , slowly working my way back up. You have become a very positive influence in my life , thank you . For The Dream !!!!!!! Yewwww ........ I will grab some stickers when you're back in the states

Thanks so much!!!! Loads of good advice in this edit! The best advice imo is "don't be afraid to fall in front of anyone". Afraid to fall = afraid to progress. I mean, good practice always, and go back a step or two to get the individual elements of a trick down if you have to - but never worry about what other ppl think. I go back to green runs all the time now just to work on flatland buttering and it's sometimes hard to put in the hours, but it's about getting better

Solid tips my man. Might I add that many of these tips apply to other things in life as well, not just snowboarding. There is always a constant battle with how we look in another person's eyes, at least for the ones who are more intelligent and sensitive to their surroundings. The key is to not let yourself become ignorant, which ultimately leads to self destruction in the long run. But... The truth of the matter here is to be good at anything, it takes time, practice, and most importantly, dedication. The 10,000 hour rule is a prime example of what it takes for a human to successfully divide themselves from the masses of amateurs to become masters of their own craft.

I think you speak a lot of wisdom and I love your attitude. The philosophy of snowboarding with confidence and purity of purpose actually reminds me a lot of the mentality I learned in studying karate for a few years. There are deep lessons, that apply on and beyond the mountain, to be learned in snowboarding, truly. That said, though, some people just can't logistically snowboard EVERY day. One does what one can. I can typically only do it once or twice per week (but make those days count by being all day, 6~7 hrs). I can't agree more that putting in the time is the best way to improve. The best thing about that is: putting time into snowboarding is inherently fun, and becomes more fun the better you get. So it's just a snowball effect of increasing ability and fun that continues the more one snowboards.

Just got back from riding and hot damn this is an inspiration. I ain't tryin to be pro; I'm just trying to be the best I can be while training and working other stuff too, but Imma keep this in mind when I feel like sleeping in rather than driving out, or skipping out on training hours. You've got a new subscriber. "And then open your eyes, and then do it again." That legit got me stoked as well as being some awesome advice on visualization. I'm realizing that when I crush tricks and terrain, I'm not surprising myself when I do it. I disagree on gear though... My deck was only $170, but selecting a profile with specific performance goals in mind and an understanding of how your equipment will influence that desired performance rather than just getting something that kinda matches up on the height chart made a *huge* difference for me. Stuff that I struggled with for multiple seasons immediately became *easy* when I selected the right gear. Wax also does help, but I'm not a park rat, so I'm more wary of the cat tracks.

A note on falling in front of people.I remember back about 30 years ago when I was first learning 360's of jumps I was on a run and had two med tabletop's back to back i was hitting. It was right next to the lift and I hit the first one and flubbed the landing and I heard to kids laughing so I rolled up got my speed back and nailed a steezy 360 with tail grab. All I heard was holy s#*t did you see that one. That was super satisfying cause I knew then they probably couldn't hit a 180 never mind a 360 off a tabletop. After that I never paid attention to anyone else and just enjoy'ed my rides. I'm 47 so when I started Snowboarding people hated you for it, park's didn't exists and you were the Black sheep of the mountain. Sometime I think that made it even more fun cause we had to make, find, invent our own tricks jumps and rails. My first rail was a knocked down tree in between two trails I was the first to hit it and then it became a feature for the rest of the day. Ahh the good old day's!!

you would help him more by clicking on the ad. seriously, 1000 impressions of an video ad is worth about 10-30 bucks, but a click is probably worth 50+ impressions.

Great video! What would be your way to practice as someone who can only go onto the mountain on weekends? Is it better to focus on one type of trick/feature each weekend or mix it up (whole park laps)?

Get there early, and stay late. And do it all.

One of the greatest feelings for me other then actually being on the mountain is when you lay down for the night and you can feel the muscle memory setting in with little pulls here and there as if your carving. What a way to fall asleep! :D

Feel that exact thing every night 🙌

Hey Casey love what do you doing! This video has given me so much motivation to keep pushing my snowboarding. You are sick on a snowboard, tricks are so smooth, you must have put in loads of hours and effort. Keep shredding man!!!
