This exactly what I do to practice for a presentation: I grab some random book from my book shelf, open it to a random page, and read as if there is a crowd right in front of me. It has helped so much with my confidence not only when presenting but also holding one on one conversation.

Sounds silly but reading your kids a bedtime story helps. You're more likely to want to show excitement and play with different characters. Your tonality and emphasis really shine through.

When I was married, my wife liked to listen audio books before sleeping. So I did this live like the original narrator.

It is not silly at all, I agree. I sincerely enjoy reading to my kids, I truly enjoy and put all my efforts to reading and if I am tired I skip reading to them bc it defeats the purpose of me reading to them without adding any emphasis/emotions/changing voice of the characters etc. when I know I am tired for the day meaning I have no enough energy and can't think straight. I read to my kids clearly, with expression, and I use various tones of voice according to the characters in the book, or narrating any educational values to them. If I can't read properly for bedtime, I move it to morning time when they wake up. :)

Reading /memorizing/ reciting poetry is really good for this. It's a source material that is incredibly rich in emotion and illustriative language. Poetry is often short and self-contained, focusing on a single thought. Poetry also requires a melodic delivery that allows you to practice rising and falling speech patterns. Memorizing poetry also gives you a neat party trick.

The thing is, most people are not confident enough or their personality doesn't suit that kind of attitude from someone whom people have known as jerk, stupid or idiot if i do something so sudden then it will be weird but when it comes to abusive words doing something that suits me and i am aware of it then i will present it as it should be with all my heart and mind. So it's not that we don't know what to do but we think will it be ok if i do it and when something forces you to do it anyway you get nervous and the rest is history and when you have nothing too lose you nervousness goes down and you do it correctly but that also takes courage

Practice = ? Not “perfect,” but “permanent” One of the greatest lessons I learned as a vocal performer. If you talk to your peers as soon as the music ends in practice, you’re more likely to do it during the actual performance. Practice it the way you want to perform it.

HEY PARENTS! This is actually really easy to practice. I read my kids books every day and I like to use all the emotions, etc when reading out loud to them, often making up character voices as well. Without thinking about it I have learned how to improve my speech delivery when reading or just talking. As a parent I feel this is really easy to practice without having it feel like practice.

So when I was probably 17, my friend applied for some door to door type job for a window company. They asked him to read a script, and because he read it like this, (he was really into writing and books and such) they made him a manager and put him in charge of a team of like 8 people. Now the job turned out to be crap anyway, but the point is, this video rings true.
