Good tips! I would also add, practice, PRACTICE, *PRACTICE!* Practice in front of a mirror, practice in front of your pets, practice while standing on one leg with your eyes closed. It's exposure therapy without the exposure

I have this mental trick that kinda work for me. Personally, I practiced martial art ( Muay Thai/ Kich Boxing) for over 3 years, and I kinda good at that. So basically, when even I have to present or speak in front of people, I speak to myself that I can easily whoop these guys' ass in the fight, consequently, this way of thought helps me to be confident and not to be afraid anymore ( it's like having a sense of overpower when I have something that I'm confident to do, compared to others)

Slower rate of speech was a game changer for me

That’s my biggest issue. I just commented that I go into high pressure situations regularly at work. I’m 33 and have to convince entire C-suites to trust my firm and I to allow full access to their books/records/personnel, but when I’m in a room of 20 people I’m training, I’m 5 million words a second, making ridiculous hand gestures, and you can see my heart beat through my shirt from the ISS

@@alexlevinson8629 31 here. Ah yeah, slower rate of speed gets me talking in situations where im overly nervous and couldnt do it otherwise. Then if im in the nervous-but-manageable zone, i also revert to too fast.

@@Juzzi9 I always thought that with expertise and reputation would come confidence. I could do a recording that I knew was going to be seen by every person on earth and nail it. As soon as there’s more than 15 20yr olds who I’ll never see before, my nuts are in my chest and I become the speed reader from ‘Africa’s got talent’

@@alexlevinson8629 xDD good analogy. Sometimes what helps me, is reframing the nervousness. Butterflies in the stomach dont mean im full of anxiety, they mean im full of excitement, full of adrenaline to tackle the task with my best capabilities. I only manage to do this is certain nervousness levels, but i practice it as i believe that really is the key. Some world class performers do say the nervousness never goes fully away after all. There are more people on youtube who talk about this reframing in further detail.

Method 2 the one piano recital i did okay in, and i actually enjoyed it a bit, was the one where i thought "i'm here so the audience can enjoy this piano piece as much as i do. I want to convey this music to them." That was the one time my mind wasn't thinking "I CAN'T MESS UP"

I do this as well. I’m a closer for a relatively large M&A firm. With 4-5 people, I can be the center of attention and run the room and the process, getting a room of 50+ year old C-Suite members to trust me with their entire business. In a group of 20 trainees who have no idea what they’re doing, I speak 2.346 million miles an hour and repeat myself.

Control Your Body: Use box breathing (inhale, hold, exhale, hold) to relax and prevent trembling. Shift Your Mindset: Focus on serving the audience rather than self-consciousness. Slow Down Your Speech: Speaking too fast increases nervousness; consciously slow down. Manage Adrenaline: Do brisk exercise to reduce excess adrenaline. Desensitize Fear: Gradually expose yourself small groups before speaking to public speaking situations and build confidence.

I remember just 1-2 months ago i had to give a presentation infront of principle about something. And i had to do it all by myself because my group was absent. I delivered the presentation smoothly no mistake no nothing and it was my first time presenting something by myself. After all of the presentation was done the principle said all the presentations were neat and presentable this line gave me a sigh of relief 😌

Pls reply to my query Basically i am confident in my speech but sometimes it feels like people arent interested or they aren't listening. And that moment when i feel this, makes me nervous and fumble. Also am really comfortable when i have some sources or page or slide to look onto and deliver but when its generally about normal public speaking I become clueless or feel out of words How to cope up with these things

Well i dont know if it helps but i think you talk about everday situations where u are nervous and feeling clueless. Well if it is a normal conversation or public speech without any requierements of knowledge (Holding a weeding speech or talking infornt of q Group about the weather) u dont need to know data, diagrams or studies in this topic. And if it is a topic you are not educated in, be open about and Show intrested in learning from perplex that know Mode about the topic the you. I hope that helps

Start by meeting with a friend and ask if they could bring along one of their friends. Use this opportunity to get to know their friend better, talk about mutual interests, and see if you have any shared hobbies or passions. This approach can help you make new connections through your existing friendships. If you don’t have a friend to meet with, consider joining a club or group related to your interests. People often form friendships with others who share similar passions. I hope this helps!
