Transdermal magnesium therapy: Magnesium chloride is often considered to have higher bioavailability and absorption rates through the skin compared to magnesium sulfate (epsom salt).

I've heard that as well. Have you heard Magnesium pidolate (aka pyroglutamate) has even better absorption? it's only 8.6% Mg though. And it's hard to find on the market.

Magnesium co-factors are the B vitamins (all of them), L- glutamine, taurine and boron. The B vitamins, boron, taurine and glutamine keep the magnesium much longer in the cell. The best way to get magnesium is through transdermal magnesium through soaking of FEET in magnesium chloride flakes for at least 45 minutes.

So glad you mentioned the outlier of boron. For three years I could tell my body needed more magnesium after a super stressful event, but magnesium just “didn’t work.” I experimented with boron and noticed some improvements with that alone (lowered chronically high heat rate). Then experimented with borax. At first my low magnesium symptoms got worse, then when I took magnesium, that was the first time in three years it “worked.” Felt relaxation of tension within an hour.

I just recently found my boron has been below limits of detection twice in a row (HTMA) after 9 months apart. I tried eating high boron foods, too... Chelated Magnesium Glycinate works awesome! Chelated supplements are released slowly in the body to enhance absorption and also helps to avoid the side effects of the non chelated versions because it doesn't overload to system with too much at one time. Boron & B6 have also been a great addition for me. I use Life Extension's Boron 3mg complex which also has B6 since they are also cofactors for each other.

Why is Magnesium Glycinate best absorbed in studies? Why is it other chelate supplements using glycinate also have high absorbtion? I wonder if it has to do with people generally not getting much glycine in their diets (especially compared to its primary Amino Acid counterpart, Methionine). Perhaps the body is after the glycine, more than the magnesium.

@matversion2

That's not what I'm saying, what I am saying is that generally for every 200 mg of magnesium that is in a magnesium glycinate supplement, there's going to be 1 g of glycine. There's upsides to that, especially when you consider some of the research is showing benefits upwards of 15 g per day. It can be beneficial at any time of day, as can magnesium which can be dosed multiple times per day.

One of the few to look at Ionic Magnesium, the only form which works for me, and I've tried them all over the years. The reason I began supplementing magnesium was due to severe leg cramps where the right calf muscle would lock, causing extreme pain. Going from cramp, to the muscle turning rock hard, turning to jelly, etc. A horrible process which eventually left me being unable to walk properly for days on end after every cramp attack due to the muscle being ripped to shreds. The doctor was useless, so I had to do my own research, which lead to magnesium deficiency. So long as I supplement, I'm fine.
