Ill answer this for you. Some people clamp them others weld them. To get a truly leak free system it has to be welded. But clamps work pretty well but could have leaks around where it is clamped. They would be very very very minor leaks that you really wouldn't be able to detect. The pros weld them but since most don't have a welder clamps work just fine. But short answer is you don't HAVE to weld but its recommended.

I just cut the clamp got under the car and pushed the whole system off with my feet. Left the manifold and dump pipe and welded a bit of pipe coming out the side

glasspacks are loud thats their purpose, but you cut holes in it, thats why its loud and annoying, you gave yourself an exhaust leak. If you put it on in a way that did result in putting holes in it it would sound way better

why would you put a glass pack at the end of your exhaust?? The end of your exhaust is where your muffler tips go after you chop your muffler off. The actual glass pack itself goes midway down the exhaust system itself.
