Wish all the pros would: 1) Install inline flow meter ... only way to know actual gpm (gallons per minute). My VS pump will be over 100 gpm at 2,300 rpms. Would destroy my filter with that much output. Would cause problems with salt cell, and makes energy bill skyrocket. I've now seen multiple videos of pros setting VS speed to 3,000 rpms for cleaning cycle. That would blow out my cartridge filter that has a max of 100 gpm (Pentair Quad DE 80). Every pool is different. This should be mandatory and virtually no pros do it. I get 50 gpm at 1,050 rpms, Can hardly hear it run. 2) Install check valve before salt cell and after heater. Not doing so can prematurely wear out your heater. 3) Install sacrificial anode. A pool is already a battery and the water has all kinds of metal in it. A salt pool is a lot stronger of a battery... increases corrosion. All pools should have a zinc anode to keep metal parts from corroding. It should be mandatory for a salt pool, but most pros say nothing. 4) Install an acid feeder and plum it just before salt cell. Salt cells need cleaning often as calcium just sticks to plates. You clean with muriatic acid. Since the pool needs regular doses anyway, the acid feeder keep pool in balance and it cleans the salt plates simultaneously... greatly extending time between cleaning. When they say you get 3-7 years life, this helps make it more towards the 7 years,

The instruction booklet says that the installation should be done vertically you installed it horizontally what is the difference?
@Inyopools6 ай бұрын
I checked both old and new versions of the IntelliChlor owners manual, and neither state the cell is required to be installed vertically. One version of the manual states one of the features: ' The IECG (the cell) can be installed horizontally or vertically.' In another version of the manual, they mention the installation orientation of the power center: "The Power Center enclosure can be mounted vertically on a flat surface such as a wall or post no more than 15 feet away from the cell controller." It says 'can be' not the more definitive 'is required to be.'

Hello Inyo, when beginning a salt cell startup, how many bags of salt do you add to a 16,000 gallon pool to get started??
@Inyopools Жыл бұрын
The recommended salt range for the Intellichlor is 2800-4500 ppm. Let's assume you are currently at 0ppm and are shooting for the middle of the range 3,650 ppm. A 16,000 gallon pool would need 489 pounds of salt.

Do you have any instructionals on converting a chlorine setup to salt system pentair ic40 with an easytouch system panel? I have the ic40 with power center but would like some insight on wiring the salt generator transformer and board into the 12 amp relay. Can't seem to find any specifics anywhere
@Inyopools7 ай бұрын
We do not have any guides on the Easytouch system, but the wiring should be similar to wiring it to a standard breaker box.You might also want to check the Easytouch's owner's manual; a pdf version of the manual can be found with a google search.

How much salt did you add to the pool? Was it before adding the salt cell or after?
@Inyopools Жыл бұрын
You could pour in the salt before or after you install the salt cell. Adding the salt a day before the installation gives it more time to dissolve into the solution. To determine how much salt you must add, you'll need to know your pool's size (in gallons) and its current salinity levels. I've listed chart guides on the links below covering the topics. Pool Volume: How Much Water Is in My Pool? - www.inyopools.com/blog/pool-volume-how-much-water-is-in-my-pool/ Swimming Pool Salt Calculator - www.inyopools.com/blog/swimming-pool-salt-calculator/

Hi I just opened my pool when I closed it my cell was working but now there are no lights on the system I did not add salt to the pool yet would that have anything to do with why there are no lights on the system?
@Inyopools4 ай бұрын
What is the salt level of the water? Is it in-range or out out-of-range? If the salt is not in a desired range, then it's definitely at least one of the reasons the lights are flashing.

I need to install one of these pentair cell units at this place and the problems is that this pump is not an old one speed pump. When the pump is Intelliflo with digital display schedule, the salt cell wouldn't be synchronized with the pump. How do you set up your automatic time schedule in this type of situation? Do you still use the intermatic timer to manually set the schedule exactly same as the intelliflo pump?
@Inyopools5 жыл бұрын
We'd recommend wiring the Intelliflo pump to the "Line" side of the timer terminals. On a 230V Intermatic T104, you'd connect the hot lines to terminals 1 & 3. That way the Intelliflo will always have power and can be controlled by it's built-in timer. You would then connect the Intellichlor to the "Load" terminals (2 & 4) . Then you could set the trippers to turn the salt system on while the Intelliflo is running.

@@Inyopools Thank you for your answer. I have another question. I'm thinking about installing Pentair Ichlor-30 and there's a Pentair Superflo Variable Speed Pump installed with intermatic timer clock (without the off tripper) Do I need to connect the powercenter to a separate timer and schedule the time exactly same as the digital timer of the pump? Or can I just connect the Ichlor cell to the original timer clock and just leave it on all the time? Does it damage the cell whenever the pump automatically turns off based on the schedule?

@danielfalcon39044 жыл бұрын
@Bobby b Hello my friend. That's right. A lot of salt I used to run the chlorine generators and everything goes great. Let me tell you that I installed three chlorine generators (pentair) for the pool because like I said before is a big ass pool and around of 50 bags or more of salt were used. Righ now just to maintain the salt's level I use one or two bags of common salt because is cheaper. But in general is a great investment that I did buying those things because I spent a lot in hypoclorite.

Pentair has the incredible stigma of customer service. New IC20 arrived DOA. Took then 2 months to replace it amongst many unanswered emails and several calls with empty promises of callbacks. Only when I turned to the BBB and social media did they do something. Thay have 2 star ratings across the board. Will be buying another competitor when this one breaks. 1300 every 3 to 5 years is an expensive nut to crack. They also lied to the BBB stating they left several voicemails when it never happened.
