The PS2 runs off of 12v DC power which means you can skip the inverter and just wire up a correct sized DC barrel jack. With the Phat model you'd need to use a PSU replacement but with the slim it's plug and play.

Absolutely not imo. The cars power is dirty, so maybe using a USB PD car charger and a USB PD emulator set to 9v could clean the signal. Also cars output 14v when they're running, which may put more stress on the device.

One note on powering the PS. A lot of inverters are not very high quality and, over time will damage your devices. The reason they damage your devices is because they’re sending square waves of electricity and not smooth, inverted sine waves. If you’re going to go this route, find a solid pure sine wave inverter. Another, and in my opinion better option, is to power this directly off DC power with a DC to DC converter. The PS takes DC power so you’re essentially taking 12v and inverting it to AC and then the PlayStation power brick is converting back to DC. This causes a loss of efficiency and ultimately a bit of heat. Check the specs on the lower brick of the PS to see what voltage DC it supplies the console with and with how many amps. Once you know that, you just need a DC to DC converter that will accepts 12v DC and output the PS requirements. Many of these have a range and you just turn a little screw to adjust the output voltage. Hope that helps or at the very least sends you down a deep rabbit hole which spits you out a transformed electric god ⚡️

A lot of helpful information! Thank you!
@JessicaFEREMАй бұрын
You can get a readymade DC to DC converter easily, just get a high power USB PD charger. you get a trigger board that can do 9v. you may even be able to find a readymade PD trigger adapter so you just buy the parts and plug them in. bonus is that your PS2 can run on a phone charger or battery bank now as long as it's PD capable. USB PD chargers, even the cheap ones I've found to be really high quality so I'd trust them.
