Thanks for watching. It was a little bit tricky doing it one handed whilst filming it.

True, but it was quicker without.

This is the best set of destructions I have watched on a YT video :). I have a question. The boiler is a wall hung Potterton Profile with 2xpipes on the top and the essentials (pump/2xzone valves/bi pass etc) are all in the upstairs airing cupboard. The only suitable vertical pipe is the flow which doubles back through 180 degrees to the pump/zone valves and then disappears under the floorboards on the roundtrip to the radiators. Other than adding a vertical extension 'loop' to the horizontal return, I cannot see a way of fitting the filter to the return pipe. That means using the flow which is not good for a number of reasons. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks for watching and for your kind comment; I appreciate it. Yes, ideally the filter should be located on the return pipe, near the boiler, but if you can't fit it there and don't want to install some new pipes, then I think it is better to have the filter anywhere in the system, rather than to not have one at all. I hope this helps.

@@PhilipWillsWorld That was a quick reply. Tend to agree. I guess it will create a bit of drag on the flow, will not pick bits on the return to the boiler and will also get the hottest water which could limit the life of the filter. As you say, better with than without. Thanks for your thoughts.

So you dont have to flair the end of the pipes with those connections?
@PhilipWillsWorld2 жыл бұрын
Correct; they just push straight on very easily. It's such a simple job to do, and makes a big difference to the heating system. Thanks for watching and I hope it helps.

Yeah, go for it. Just make sure you empty the water from the pipe before you cut in to it, then fill it up after fitting it. If you have any cold radiators, it's a good idea to turn off all of the other radiators, put the heating on to pump the water through them, then agitate (hammer) that radiator to loosen any sludge and pump it around to the magnaclean filter. Thanks for watching.

@@PhilipWillsWorldgreat video. Also that's a good idea re getting build up out of cold radiator. I'm an amateur DIYer and I think I'll try this install. One issue is where I'll fit the filter, I'm v tight for space under boiler and also at hot water cylinder. Do you know if I can put the filter basically anywhere I can fit it on the system?
@PhilipWillsWorld4 ай бұрын
@@mryan4452 thanks for watching. Yes, in theory, you can put it anywhere in the system, but it is recommended to be fairly close to the boiler to capture the sludge before it can get to the boiler. You also need to be able to access it for maintenance. The filter comes with instructions on the best place to install it. Hope this helps.

Looks easy but not for the amateur DIYer. I got mine done by a professional. Took less than an hour. Why does your filter have a RED 2? Mines is white. Does yours have any extra features?

Thanks for watching. This really is an easy job. There are different versions of the MagnaClean and there are other manufacturers of filters. MagnaClean 2 is easy to fit and maintain. MagnaClean 3 can talk to an app.

is it easy to install a boiler system as an hvac technician and not an engineer

Thanks for watching. You need the right ticket to be allowed to install a boiler. And really need to know what you are doing to install the rest of the system too. I think new installations now require a magnetic filter like this one, too. Hope this helps.
