I bought a house with a five-year-old boiler, it had a Magnaclean filter fitted when the boiler was fitted. As far as I know, the boiler hasn't been serviced since the boiler was fitted. I drained down the system and took the filter off to clean it at the same time. The filter was absolutely solid with black fillings and sludge so I cleaned it and then put inhibitor through the filter. It's a filthy job but it gave me a lot of satisfaction.

Haven’t had it serviced as of yet and it’s been there for 15 months now. Wow the sludge thats gonna be removed is gonna be nuts. Service booked for tomorrow

Hi. Will this filter fix the sludge problem on its own or do i need power flush as well?
@chrisgee7739Ай бұрын
It makes sense to get the system clean before using the filter as otherwise you’ll be cleaning the filter out to do what the flushout would do far simpler. Then let the filter deal with a relatively clean system.

Hi mate. The way my both ( upstairs and downstairs)return pipes run doesnt allow me to put a magnaclean. So the only option is to put a filter on return pipe coming from upstair or the one coming from downstair. Now, will be be beneficial at all to put two magnaclean filters one for upstairs pipe and one for downstairs pipe or will one be enough? Thanks

Help us out James, Got a problem not encountered before. Fitted twin impeller shower pump on thermostatic shower/filler. Every time another hot tap is turned off, the pump cycles. Doesn't do it on cold as everything cold is on the main, all the hot is on gravity. no surry or essex installed. Cheers for the advice

Can you have two of these installed on a central heating system? Upstairs and downstairs? I have a boiler upstairs and I have the same sized pipes in the wall of my kitchen down below. I will have a new boiler installed soon, maybe a Baxi , and it comes with another magnet filter ( Adey MagnaClean Pro2 I think, but I've got an old red labelled Magnaclean Pro upstairs). I'm thinking that if alot of the magnitite particles were removed before heading up a pipe from downstairs to the boiler, then it would put less strain on the pump, because it wouldn't have to pump sludge up the pipe, against gravity. Then, by the boiler have another just before the return valve to stop any remnant magnitite from being pumped into the boiler.

Looking at fitting this on my boiler but due to how it's been fit, I wouldn't be able to fit it on the inlet. Would it be of any use on the outlet?
@TW-mp8zx6 жыл бұрын
Craig not sure if you have ventured into fitting this yet but its best to fit this onto the return to the boiler because the idea of it is to stop anything magnetic from blocking up the small waterways inside the boiler... this wont however stop any non magnetic sludge from entering the boiler tho... i would also recommend fitting an inline strainer on the same pipe after the magnet filter and before the boiler..

Magnets are less effective at higher temps. May be slightly better on the return as the temp difference usually isn't very large. However, it would be easier to isolate if the water temp was a bit cooler on the return.

@rayc15034 жыл бұрын
Boilermags a winner for me. The micro has a smaller magnet then the professional 2. It's good when you have restrictive space. The adey professional with a part cleanser/inhibitor pack is around £90 from toolstation. Just be sure to use ptfe on the threads before you attach the nuts.

When dosing the system, I wouldn't have thought there is enough volume in the Magnacleans to take all the dosing liquid so presuming you'd need to drain some water off (at the drain point) then leave the lower isolating valve open whilst adding the dosing luiquid?
@johnbower5 жыл бұрын
heirpin, You could just put half the dosing liquid in, circulate this half through the system, then drain the magnaclean again to put the other half of dosing liquid in. When draining to put the second half of the dosing liquid in you only loose a very small amount of dosing fluid as it will now be highly diluted throughout the system..
