***** Master Blasters are quite expensive you are correct even eBay sell them for about £130. Not cheap. I have bought 2 P.A for my burglar alarm and is sitting inside of the panel getting ready to be wired in. Also when you get Your P.A wired in could you press it so that you've tested it please. :-)

There's more to this than I thought. Do you know why there is a pcb full of electronics in the bell box, why isn't it just the sounder & strobe light?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 10 жыл бұрын
Years ago you used to but a empty bell box and then wire it up to a sounder and strobe but now they are much better. They are now full of circuitry to make it a self contained bell unit, so they now have a backup battery in the actual bell box (which is useful if someone cuts the cable going to it). They also have reassurance LED's and can also be configured easily be moving any of the three jumpers. I must admit that in the past you had to think when wiring these up, but this AZ-TECH sounder (made by Kinetic) has brilliant instructions, as it has diagrams on how to wire it to several different alarm panels! Thanks for the comment ;-)

Any ideas of how to get rid of the PA lockout on this alarm. Thanks
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 4 жыл бұрын
If the PA button is not stuck in, you should be able to reset the alarm by inputting your number and pressing the X key twice. If it won't reset there is a problem with the PA circuit, either the switch needs looking at- or you could link it out in the panel. Thanks for the comment 👍

Hi Handyman, is it safe to run a power cable next to the bellbox cable. ie. In the same trunking ? Thanks Matt
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 6 жыл бұрын
Not sure, sometimes you can get interference when running cables alongside each other, especially with telecommunications etc. If the power cable is just for lighting or sockets it will cause much less interference than that of a cable supplying a 9KW shower. It's best to keep them separate if you can.

if you have cables running on the outside of a house do you try and run them inside the house or run them in trunking/conduit?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 9 жыл бұрын
I always try and run cables internally, but sometimes it's not possible such as when installing camera's in difficult locations. In such circumstances I run the cables in plastic conduit. I am running a cable for a PIR to an outbuilding soon but this will not be in conduit, but I have purchased special exterior grade cable for this purpose. Thanks for the comment

***** if someone had a brand new kitchen installed, and on the other side of the wall wanted lighting wall mounted to the exterior would you run the cables inside? if so would you chase the walls?
@ultimatehandyman

Allen Goldsmith No, I'd run the cable externally in conduit. When you asked about external cables originally I thought you were asking about alarm cables as this video is about alarm wiring! There is a page here that shows permitted zones for running mains voltage cables- www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/how-to/electrics/permitted-wiring-zones

hi pal, I have an HKC alarm that has started ringing at the bell box without being set, EXT Bell Temper is displayed on the keypad, I got a ladder and opened it up, the temper switch looks to be ok so was wondering if the Bell Box battery was bad would it give the same fault
@ultimatehandyman

Not sure, but most bell boxes start playing up after a few years, as water often gets into the box at some point. I guess you could try replacing the external battery, if that fails you might just need a new bell box. Thanks for the comment 👍

We have the same system as this, randomly the alarm would just go off, changed in int battery to no avail, then got tamper lock out on the control panel, after some messing, I by passed the tamper to the external bell box and cleared the message. However, the outside bell has stopped working but able to set the alarm, removed the tamper bypass the bell box now lights up and if you remove the cover sets the strobe and siren off but get the tamper lock out error again. Checked all cables to box and panel and ok. Someone suggested that it's the bell box batteries need replacing but I cannot see any batteries in it. Before I get anyone out can anyone shed any light on what possibly could be at fault.

I’m not an expert, but at my last house the alarm was playing up and it turned out to be the bell box. Over time they get water in them and it causes damage, or sometimes the self-contained battery leaks onto the PCB. I replaced the bell box and the problems went away 👍

@@ultimatehandyman Thanks fella, I thought it might be a weather-related issue but it's only 3 years old, and when it shows the tamper lock and not bypassed and you open the box up the strobes go off, the siren blarts out and the leds light up which I would of thought if water related damage these areas would be faulty. Tis a strange one.

@@ultimatehandyman I’ve messed up somewhere and now struggling to get the system working. I have an Accenta G4 panel and a AG6 external sounder. I’m using the old wiring on a 4 core cable. Any ideas would be appreciated.

@@kcvocalentertainer You said originally that you wanted to wire the sounder and the strobe, no mention of the reassurance LED's You'll need two more wires for the reassurance LED's You might be able to wire the strobe and sounder on one pair of wires and the reassurance LED's on the other pair of wires, but you won't be able to test the strobe and sounders independently.

@@ultimatehandyman I need to mention they worked before I messed with it, using only 4 wires TADB. I thought by disconnecting the tamper on the bell box and connecting it to strobe, that it would work. Sadly it didn’t. I put the wire back as it were now nothing.

Is it possible to decrease the volume of the external sounder siren ?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman Жыл бұрын
It’s not something I have ever done, as people normally want alarms to be as loud as possible, but you might be able to put a resistor in the circuit supplying the siren 👍
@tudomerda
@tudomerda Жыл бұрын
@@ultimatehandyman alarms that have human response are predominant where I live hence a loud siren just annoys the neighbours, I know I speak from experience. It took a lot of effort to get my neighbour to investigate the false alarms which were due to improper/lazy latching of doors windows. their alarm sounded six times in one day.

That bell box is to low, and the only reason for putting it there is to make it easy, or your telescopic ladders don't go high enough, i worked in alarms for years one company was ADT, if its easy for you to reach its easy for a criminal to reach. As for loud external sirens they are pretty much a waste of time and money, your better off install several sound bombs around the inside of the house so if someone breaks in the can't stand to be in the house, they will oscillate off each other and become really irritating, external siren just annoys people but how many times do you hear a house alarm go off and ignore it, all the time everyone does. good locks and great alarm, external security lights is the way i go, just be careful about the sound bombs. if you have pets.

+MikeyZ Synth-Eti-Cut That bell box is installed on my garage. It's almost at the maximum height of the garage, hence it is positioned where it is. I do have about 4 other ladders besides the telescopic one so reaching higher up is not a problem. There is a master blaster in the garage, which I guess is similar to sound bombs. Thanks for the comment
