Thank you for explaining the grounding of the two black wires to the chassis. Everything else was self explanatory besides the red wire being attached to the positive battery terminal I mean. Using double sided sticky tape is another option when considering where to put the ballasts.

Thank you I'm glad I found your video I have installed hids on all my cars for years and just got a 2013 kia optima used and the only video showing HID install has a relay harness and I've been trying to figure out why you have to have that and I'm glad you explained it I did not know that I've always done Hids the regular way I also just got a 2014 Kia Forte and I took my HIds out of my 05 Malibu because it was the same bulb size and they have worked fine without a relay harness
@douglazamar88897 жыл бұрын
mine came without resistor and says on balast starts without relay?
@ImJoel7 жыл бұрын
you should be good without one then, the resistors get super hot and its annoying to find a place to mount them

I appreciate the effort to upload, but you talk too much and your camera shakes like crazy. Honestly I stopped your video at minute 5:00. You are showing exactly the opposite of how it should be done. 1. HID bulbs go into projector not reflector housing, you will glare at other drivers. 2.Those ballasts could have been installed in better positions and hidden below all those plastic stuff. 3. The wiring grommet has to be attached to the rubber cap doing a circular cut and passing the bulb and connectors through, that way it keeps out moisture and dust. 4. Tidy up your installation by using zip ties to order all that messy wiring. You don't want cables hanging there it is dangerous and look awful. The only thing done right is the use of relay harness, that way you'll preserve your car's lighting wire as the power go directly from battery and ground to the ballast. For anyone watching this video: don't install HID kits on reflector housings. Don't do what this guy is doing. Be clever.

I watched your video because the black box making clicking sound sound and my light is not working. So you explained all stuff resistor,ballast, wires and when you come to black box you just skipped it so I guess you have no clue what it does and what’s the name for it. So you didn’t explained that good guess you know same as me.

I think that black lil box is called decoder and his job is to avoid error on your dash I could be wrong

Wait... So the load resistors are just chilling, not mounted to anything? And one of em is inside the 'cold air' intake? So, you installed an intake air heater element! Kinda like BMW does... The dust cover is there to prevent your headlights for getting all dusty and shit. It's gonna suck balls when you try and detail your car, and keep washing the headlight lense but it just won't get clean. Cause it will get dirty AF on the inside. Duct tape would be totally fine, barring the car is what you might consider a 'beater' But I think your car is nice and deserves better. Cut a hole, stick the harness through the hole, use a number of glues and tapes any of which would work. (use liquid electric tape) and secure the load resistors to something, just not the body or anything plastic.

Yeah now looking back at this, I would of done a lot very different. over the last year i got a project car and learned soooo much. I kinda just wanted to make this video to show how to wire it because i spent like 2 hours trying to figure it out. I got into an accident in May and the body shop uninstalled the lights because the resistor was in the wheel well, which i didn't know, and it burned a hole in there. im happy they uninstalled it before any more damage happened thank you for the comment though and not being a dickhead like majority of youtube comments lol
@slamdiesel45766 жыл бұрын
I give you mad props for the positive attitude and broad perspective, I think my comment could have easily been interpreted different from my intentions. Sucks about the accident but it's kinda a blessing in disguise. The haters are probably pretty pixie mechanics themselves whether their professional or weekend warrior. It's not like the video was titled, "SEMA convention exhibit, HID kit how to!" I'm doing a retro fit right now, projectors and HIDs + LEDs.... Almost done with one light, you inspired me to do a video for the other one. (H1 projector lense with high low switchover using an H7 bulb... 😬 haven't aimed em yet so IDK if it's gonna work well.

yes!! that's awesome, I dont get hurt off of what people say on the internet because theres no point lol but I feel like i did my job if I even helped a few people out. But to actually inspire you! That's such an amazing feeling. Make quality videos that you would watch and people will come!
