Thank you for sharing the features of this software, Pat. While I do agree with you that jump cuts are less distracting than too many filler words, oddly enough, I was contemplating commenting on another KZbinr's channel just before watching this with how much I appreciated the effort he puts in before filming to give a smooth delivery without obvious jump cuts. It's possible, too, that he masks some of the cuts with the insertion of clips or infographics. Great information here. Thank you for sharing with us!

Sure, I need to review the filler words to decide whether I want to remove them or not, but this has sped up the process by half!

At some point, I even started planning a stand-alone video logging tool. Something that could work in unison with Premiere, or even on its own. This was in like 2005. But I sucked at programming then, so I never pursued it. Since then I've moved on from both video editing and programming. Instead I'm an R&D advisor now - a guy who plans research projects for big companies. But this is super-cool!¨And also way beyond what I imagined back then. Thanks for this video!

This is amazing. Are you using Descript to record your desktop and Camera feed too? Or are you using separate programs to do that then upload to Descript? Reason I ask is I’m debating trying to run everything through Descript including my mirrorless camera feed via a capture card. Would be amazing to centralize all of it and skip memory card ingest as well.

@TheMurderUnicorn3 жыл бұрын
If you're interested in removing dead air automatically, you can use audacity, a free tool for audio. There's an option to 'truncate silence', that will automatically remove anything below a specific threshold. I don't know how to do this in something like premiere, it's obviously a bit trickier if you don't want to separate your audio from your video tracks.
@GrandmaGoodie3 жыл бұрын
Yes! There’s a tool to Cut Word Gaps! It finds all pauses over a set duration (like 1.5 sec) and cuts it to whatever time you set (like .5 sec) for the entire piece of audio or video, in 1 click!

It didn't make a transcript. Could that be because I am trailing and it won't let me do more than an hour and the video is one hour fifteen? Really annoying that we can't try things properly on the free trials. What's the point if you can't actually do something real from start to fineish. So any thoughts on why there is no transcript?

I have a question that kinda haunting me a little about this. I have been using descript for about a month now. I came across an interview that i am currently editing and my guest was very filler word happy. Im affraid that to many jump screens in the video will be off putting and unprofessional. Even after deleting a few of the ums im afraid it will not be accessible. What is your take on this problem??

@@GrandmaGoodie Please make it quick for us for Hindi language
In the video you took clear, deliberate pauses on either side of your filler word. Spoiler alert, most people don't do that, and automatically removing those filler words just leads to unnatural audio. For those of us that stretch our 'umms' into the next word, this just leads to really horrendous cuts in our audio.
