Bro, I discovered at 23 that I have a fear of money a week ago. I was well aware of my shadow, but not fully. When I was young my parents would always fight bcs of money. Seeing that as a kid I started actually hating money and the concept of it without knowing why. And, as you said, through introspection and self awareness, I got that part of me to the surface. I actually discovered that is a part of me that wants to feel safe. Growing up in a household where the constant state of being was stress or fear is not good for someone, especially as a kid. But, meditation, self-awareness, questioning my beliefs and chalistenics are the way to go. Go hard or go home. Never go home.

I have a serious question: Let's say I uncover my shadow self, I become aware of it and I would like to meet "his" needs, so I can harness the power and wisdom from my both sides, But How do I fufill 'his' needs, by NOT doing the things, that only 'he' would do? The things that are far away from my morales and values.

It’s interesting to hear people make assertions like this. I guess it’s just your own idea about psychology and it’s either useful to people or not. But like, what’s the evidence supporting your idea of the shadow and what’s evidence showing your suggested remedy is useful. I dk man. Interesting vid though

Love the video, but could you explain what it means to “focus the light” of a shadow personality with an example. Like what does it mean to regulate it? Edit: and more than just regulate it, how does one use it for your benefit?

Angelo I'm scared of what my future holds, last year i made amazing progress this year i have no idea what's wrong with me i keep on failing i know all the steps but i just can't do them correctly i having been boxing for 1 and a bit years with little relative progress to the the amount of time I've spent on it, i gained progress in the gym and now i have lost most of it. I know all the practices to be great as i was great before I had lots of respect from others but now i get average, what can i do to get me out of this rut i keep on thinking oh I've finally escaped the rut but then realise I'm in it again after a week i don't understand i have a lot of motivation and higher than average discipline, but i just don't know what to do?
@Ucho469
@Ucho469 3 ай бұрын
He just told you... invite the dark parts of you and don't judge them. Stop believing what you are. "Above the average discipline", "losts of motivation"... Ha! Listen to yourself carefully and accept that probably that's not the truth. Maybe you are "lazy" or you are "scared" or a bit of both. That's the real integration of your shadow. Nobody wants to accept that they are 65% lazy 35 % motivated, or 15% scared 85 % corageous. Embrace that truth. Stop talking in absolutes and start working on yourself. That probably will help with self sabotaging too. Talking to yourself more truthfully. Meditate every day. And I tell you this from the point of view of someone who's 36 and sabotaged himself for years. STILL doing bad things I am ashamed of. Still an addict to certain things. Yet I have done amazing things. Still learning. But lesson number one is humility and letting go of beliefs of self-greatness. Probably just from there you can find better, realistic growth. It is a Hell of a journey. Literally. I read about athlets who got gold medals and ended up years later being alcoholics and addicts to drugs/s€x/whatever. So accept that the struggle probably will take the rest of your life, that paraphrasing Ryan Holiday the obstacle is the way. Oh, and meditate. Everyvday. For me it is easier after workouts, in the wild. Good luck.

Only one brief mention of Jung - God done him a disservice. Everything you said in this video was an extremely simplified description of the "Shadow Self" as coined but Carl Gustav Jung. You should give some credit to the person who discovered this unconscious aspect of "The self", especially when you haven't added anything to it, but reduced it in explanation. There are people like me (who have read a large swath of Jungs books, multiple times) watching your videos now... You gave John vervaeke a bigger shout out in your God video, and it didn't really have much to do with his ideas (only his propositional and enacted belief work) - Jung Coined the term "shadow self) and no real development on it has occurred since, as well, he hit the nail on the head then. Whether you care to admit it or not, Carl Jung is the original don of Psychology and one of the greatest intellects to ever walk this earth. A good deal of what comes out of Jordans Peterson mouth today, especially related to his exploration of the unconscious and God/religion is an extension of what Jung already discovered.
