Solid video. The analogy of the boxer step to walking vs hopping with two feet was simply brilliant and helped mentally clinch some key concepts.

I'm glad you said how hard that side to side technique is to do at first! I thought I was doing something wrong! It's just hard! I'll get it tho. This was a good tutorial. Jumping with the rope on one side will help a lot. That timing is very different than both feet. I'm a musician and the sound is where I focus. Very different rhythm to the side to side technique. Thanks for this!

Hey thanks so much for your comment! Just keep on practicing it step by step and you will get it. It sounds like you are on the right track, and the music analogy is a great way to approach it as well.

Great vid. Why does Mr Zuniga swish the rope to each side before he starts skipping each time?
@PullmansGym
@PullmansGym 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! He does that to catch his rhythm before he starts to jump. It can also be used as a way to take a break during your jumping if needed without fully stopping.

I never needed to learn to jump rope, I just seemed to know how, naturally. I could even sprint while alternating feet, no problem, just seemed natural. I could even alternate feet, while alternating heel-toe. Since my total hip replacement, I just cannot alternate feet. Should I face the fact that I never will, or is it possible through drills, and which ones. BTW - great video tutorial.

this is a good video...but HOW LONG DO BOXERS JUMP ROPE FOR IN TOTAL
@PullmansGym
@PullmansGym Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! It really just depends on the type of workout. You can use it as a warmup to start your workout, you can use it at the end of your workout as a shake out for some extra cardio. Sometimes you can use it in the middle of your workout for cardio purposes or to practice your coordination and footwork. 2-3 rounds is a good starting point and you can work your way up. Thank you for your support of our channel!

I bought a jump rope. Is there a certain length it needs to be? I'm 5'5.5.
@PullmansGym
@PullmansGym 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! I really believe it’s personal preference. A longer rope gives you more room for error and is a little harder to spin. A shorter rope has less room for error and is easier to spin. The way I like to pick a rope is I like to find the middle point of the rope and hold the handles up, if they go to about my chest then it’s a good length. Hope this helps!

Does both feet go up at the same time while skipping ?
@PullmansGym
@PullmansGym Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! When you are skipping, they don't go at the same time, it goes one after the other, you are sort of alternating. Imagine just normal skipping without a jump rope, similar idea.

@@Robjohnnetwork that’s definitely one way of doing it, that’s a good way of jumping too. As far as skipping goes specifically, you may want to alternate your feet a little more frequently. Nice job!

The rope seems to be relatively long. Is there an optimal length if the rope to check out before starting?
@PullmansGym
@PullmansGym Жыл бұрын
I would say it’s really a preference. Longer rope is a little more work on your arms but a shorter room has less room for error. My personal preference, what I like to do when I pick a length of the rope is stand in the middle of the rope, hold it up and make sure it measures to about my chest area. Thanks for your question!
