I'm 27. Haven't tried to skate or do any tricks pretty much since I was 16. Learned to how to do a kickflip better than I ever could when I was younger, in one hour, using these tips (especially bending the back leg) and used my own trick or placing my front wheels of some grass and my back wheels on the cement. Also taking breaks when I got stuck in my head ( kinda like learning guitar) . Moved to both wheels on the cement after I landed it a few times and then bam. I can land a kickflip sometimes now :p can't wait to get consistent with landing it. Shouts out to my fellow skaters who feel too old to get back into skating. It's not too late!

Brother I feel this! I just picked up a board for the first time in 10 years to take skating serious again. Im now 29 with an injured back but Aaron Kyro has inspired to go get back at it. I watched him take on vert and I was like "I'd love to get to that stage". So now I have a few decks setup and have been going frequently. Will definitely try this method out tomorrow sometime. I wish Braille was in Houston because I've always wanted to work with skateboards in some fashion.

I want to thank you so much I started skating when I was ten and I was learning very quickly until it came to the kickflip. After over a year of not being able to kickflip and watching tons and tons of tutorials including most of your tutorials. After over a year of not being able to I stopped skating. Now being 14 and watching this video and watching Street Dreams and flicking I went out the next day(today) and after around an hour, I can kickflip. I have so much love for you guys, and thank you so much.

I did have to go to the grass but I can’t believe the flick is already there after 2 days. Imma edit this comment when I finally land it. Edit: I landed my first kickflip on day 3. Ofc when I say “Day 3” I honestly mean like it took me 10-12hrs total. Went to a park at 8pm and landed it at 10:30pm. I landed it on the grass but I landed with my body turned so I stayed till 11pm to get a perfect landing which I did. I literally never thought I could do it. Now all I gotta do is do it on pavement and roll away. Half way there. I’m making a short vid for you Aaron just so you can see somewhat of the happiness/pain on my face when I first landed it.

It's a jump, not for height, but more to suspend your upper body while you tuck your legs up. It's in the wind up, you crouch down, bend your knees and keep your shoulders over the board. Then jump off both feet and lift your front foot first for ollie tricks. If you don't wind up and jump, you wont have time and you will fall on your board because gravity is a constant force pulling us earthlings to the ground, Aaron.

@MrYourname933 жыл бұрын
I have this problem too sometimes when I’m trying. I find that when I angle my foot a little more it helps that not happen. Never landed one, but when I’m trying and that happens it helps to angle my foot a little more and put the tip of my shoe lined up with the furthest bolts.

@@MrYourname93 thanks I’ll try it out. I also have brand new shoes and a brand new board so maybe just needs some breaking in
@dongjinshin33533 жыл бұрын
whenever i have thus problem, im usually leaning too far forward OR not popping hard enough so i either lean abit more back or pop harder. i think the problen comes from flicking before the board properly pops(basically top early) so popping abit harder or leaning abit back usually helps me get the pop faster but you could also try flicking abit later. it all depends on the person so just experiment and find what works for u goodluck!

That idea of practicing the flicking motion while watching a movie is awesome. I am one of those I get a few then loose it people. It’s totally because I don’t skate every day. I’d totally love to but my family has these terrible habits. They like to eat and they love their house. So, I have to work (lol) and sometimes (rather most times) I just get home too late. But when I get home on time I have a deal with myself to skate for at least 45 minutes. On the weekends when I’m not working, I usually get in at least 2 hours a day if not more depending on what my wife has planned for us. But enough about my work schedule. Thank you for the great tips. They are really practical. I honestly feel like I might be able to get it more consistent if I follow them. Thank you bro. You’re the man.

I use several practice techniques to work on consistency. I like the land every trick X times but sometimes time is a big factor for me so to make the most of it I will play game where if I land a trick first try I move on and mix it in stress free thereafter land or not. If I fail the trick I get five tries to land it - but I have to land one for each try I fail. If I fail more than five times I have to try the trick until I land it once. This forces you to focus your time by definition on whatever tricks you didn’t have consistently in a given day. Over the course of dozens of sessions this will strengthen your weaknesses. And if one of your other tricks starts to suffer it will naturally transition you to regaining the lost consistency. Another tip for reducing the time to warmup is to mix up your solid tricks into lines. It’s a lot more fun and allows you to land a lot of tricks in a row so you can save your energy for the tricks that you struggle with.

I don't skate, but have enjoyed your videos for years. I have had an idea for some time and didn't know if it would be something that could be possible. The idea of Braille is to get more people skating, and it seems that if you can help them learn faster, they may stick with it longer. The idea was a beginners grip tape. Numerous different colors that each represent feet placements. Arrows pointing in directions to drag for instructions on how to do the basic tricks.
