I’ve recently discovered your wonderful videos. After watching a few, I was able to quickly learn the Norwegian knit and purl techniques that Arne has demonstrated. Being able to knit this way is a life changer for me because I have severe rheumatoid arthritis. The Norwegian method is very ergonomic and I experience far less hand pain. Thank you for all that you do and for showing me that I can knit again. I’m also a dog lover and very much enjoy your fearless moose hunter, Freya😊

Not to worry about any thumbs down (but I see there isn't any). I am so grateful for Arne's instruction on Norwegian knitting and purling. I persisted in trying to learn it about a year ago and now I am very comfortable with it and it has improved my knitting so much. As Arne said, once you get the purl down, it is like a dance.

Hello good evening from a very stormy Germany😯. Your tipp is as ever very helpful. I tried it in the minute. And what a wonder: the purl stitches became much more stronger because the way of the yarn is not as long as with the other method with putting yarn in front! SUPER!!! I will do it the Norwegian way now! Thank you very much, all the best for you and the people you love. Heartly Gitta from Germany🍀😇😇🍀🌈

I am doing a sock pattern that calls for this ribbing for the very top of the cuff. Initially I hated this stitch because I was fumbling so much (we call it knit through the back loop), but I’m slowly becoming okay with it. 😆 Thank you for commenting that it makes for a skinnier knit…I was having a hard time understanding WHY the pattern designer was using this stitch, but wanted to stick with it.

I knew about the twisted knit stitch but hadn’t really seen some ribbing done with it and I really like the look of it. It might have been nice for the dog sweater that I’ve started for my son’s greyhound. Of course, I’m also wishing I had won those Prym knitting needles you gave away a while back!!! ;} Anyway, I was interested in seeing how Arne purls because I’ve noticed before that his stitch making was a little different so I’m glad for the knitting culture lesson along with his demo of it. I will give it a try. I knit my stitches the same way but I usually bring my index finger forward and then catch the purl stitch with the needle so my finger does move a little bit. I love your videos and love learning new things!! Thanks for all the teaching!

Bittersweet story: my mom taught all three of her girls to knit as young as 5. Her knitting was exquisite. Fast forward three decades and my excellent knitter sister got a job in a yarn shop and was told she was knitting incorrectly. She re-learned and showed me. We were bewildered. Fast forward two decades and I find ‘Eastern European’ knitting online. It’s the way my mom knitted! She was correct, just different: knit in the back, purl wrapping the stitch clockwise. So when I see this renewed interest in twisted stitch, it feels so affirming.😊 and you are correct it makes the knit stitch Pop! My mom was taught knitting by an Eastern European woman!

Hei. This also work wonders on bought sides of your knitting, sawn together with madrass stitches 👍🧚‍♀️

Thank you two SO much for teaching me how to knit the Norwegian way! I am 1/4 Norwegian with ancestors from Alesund and Hjorundfjord areas. Now I can knit the way they did. 😊 Now if only I had good access to wonderful wool locally like you do, but it is hard to find! Need to find a good source online with low shipping fees to Canada.

You guys are awesome! I really appreciate this. I recently made a sweater and could really use this for the ribbing on the neck. Now I will do this the next time I make my sweater! Thank you so much. Also ArneThat blue sweater with the white 8-leafed Rose is absolutely stunning on you! Carlos you look great too but that color looks really good on Arne! Happiest of weeks to both of my favorite knitters!!!

Ahhhh, thank you for this way to do pearl... I have been teaching myself to do continental knitting because I learnt the English way in my right hand, but I find holding the yarn in my left hand difficult to keep the tension. Pearl is horrible, but this is much easier.

Hahaha, I was reminded of something my Ex used to do to joke around. He was a big riot, that guy. Well, must`ve been something I was attracted to in the beginning, lol. Anyway, he used to shout out and point with his finger in a random direction, when he wanted to distract you from something and go: "Oh look, a baby moose!" Hahahaha, so many times people fell for this. Maybe Freya is a little joker too ;-) lol. Love that ribbing technique you guys. Thanks for sharing. I will try it out on my next project. :-)

I have been struggling with the purl stitch but I think Ive cracked it after this tutorial. I have been doing the twisted rib stitch as my tension is not great and this as you say make the individual stitches pop. Great video😁
