Funny how most of the things you mentioned can apply to a sticks and bricks house. We got off the Fulltime Road after almost 5 years. We went back to sticks and Brick house and part time RV. After 5 years with the house, I am over it. Every time I turn around something in the house needs to be updated, replaced or just doesn't work and Maintenace just never ends. We bought a new house in a community. Won't even get into the increased taxes, cost of repairs and so on. Can't wait to get back out on the road! Life is too short.

There must be a lot of people who sold everything to go RVing and are now massively upside down. Sell a house for $300K that would now cost you $600K to buy back. Meanwhile, you're living in a $200K RV that is now worth $50K. You want to dump the RV and go back to your old life, but you are $450K upsidedown. I would never full time RV unless I was renting out my house and living in a good used RV that had already suffered most of its depreciation. That would be my advice to anyone considering this lifestyle.
@jeffersoncoker2 ай бұрын
Or you sell house... Buy RV..and land.. put solar.. & and septic up.... Plug in when you don't want to travel, unplug when you do. Then when you're done traveling pull up plug in, and Build a cabin.. .. Priority over luxury will win every time.
@joygarrett83972 ай бұрын
That was also a concern! Wouldn’t be if I had a million bucks, but not on my limited SS/retirement . . .
@bobwadsworth47992 ай бұрын
Very good and valid points. But, also, @jeffersoncoker has a great option. The bottom line is plan for the future because most full-time rv’ers will be done for whatever reason at some point.
@GratefulGlamper2 ай бұрын
And so many found themselves in that very scenario. Planning for the future is key and knowing full time RVing will be for a SEASON only for the majority

After a year looking we finally found a MH. 2014 32 footer. We know it's a season though. If we get three years out of it due to our age and health we will be grateful. We have a sticks and bricks we love.

We are at this point ourselves. An unexpected medical condition, coupled with some RV issues for the first time in seven years and it’s just not as much fun anymore. We are thankful we didn’t sell everything. We have a homebase and are taking a year off to see if the spark is still there. For now the Montana is parked and we are just sitting still and seeing where that takes us.

Nice show, I'm a retired over the road truck driver, been in all the lower 48 states and 5 Canadian provinces many times over but not in my RV, after my wife passed away I found a really nice RV park in Avon Park, FL and become a full time resident here, I wish I could afford to make one more trip in the western part of the country❤

We have been RVing for close to 20 years, eight years of that full time. We are at the point now that we are probably going to sell are MH. We love the lifestyle, but frankly we are tired of things breaking down and trying to get repairs done. It is very stressful to break down in the middle of nowhere and then go through the process of finding a mechanic or technician. I can do a lot of the repairs on the house, but if something goes wrong with the diesel engine or any major chassis repairs, I'am SOL. We just had to replace our differential and were stuck in Tucson for three weeks. Once they got the parts we had to stay in a repair garage for two days, running our generator, because it was 108 degrees. Love Tucson, but did not want to be there for three weeks in the middle of the summer. Love your channel, keep up the good work.

I would never full time. We love going for a week at a time but I am always happy to get home. I love my garden, my bed, my space, my chickens and our grandkids. A week or so is more than enough for me. Can't imagine worrying every week where we would be staying next and the hassle of trying to get reservations!

We full-timed for almost 8 years until life happened. My MIL's health dramatically changed, and we had to care for her. After her passing we attempted to resume the lifestyle, but my husband began having some serious back issues requiring us to stay in one place for multiple extended periods. That's when we decided to settle back in a traditional home. A reason we saw so many fails at the full-time style was traveling in what we called vacation mode. It's fun but it isn't sustainable physically or financially.

We don’t plan on moving fast anymore now that we are retired. Our community is both of us and our dogs. We are friendly but not a community people. We have to travel. We have kids and grandkids in Oregon, Minnesota,Arizona and New York. We are done being in a house for 61 years. Now we want to just travel.

I am never selling my house, because RV'ing does come to an end at some point. We go to TX every winter Jan-March and I get bored there. The park doesn't have much in activities that I enjoy.
@johnlynch52212 ай бұрын
Right now, we are mostly long weekend Warriers. Each month we go somewhere. I'm retired and my wife still works for the time being. I would prefer to do mid-week camping. Handling a 22' towable isn't a hassle. When it comes to breakdowns. Last year, she took a month off and traveled the entire northeast. What I did not know until later she was taking the title to the older truck with us. If it broke down, it was going to be traded on the spot wherever we were.

We’ve put an end date on our time out…we just started on this epic journey. Unfortunately we had certain dates we needed to meet which required us to move too much for the first few months. We’re planning on heading south for the winter and hopefully find a place for a month at a time or the very least 2 -3 weeks until April when we have to come back to Canada.

We full timed for 3 years traveling at first weekly. We found that was too frequent, the gas prices was too high. The second year, we spent longer in one place and traveled every 3 weeks and not going to fewer states. The 3rd year I didn’t like being in the RV in the winter, we tried 3 different states in the winter FL, CA, AZ we felt that because these states were popular the RV parks were crowded and tightly packed. I also missed the community, I feel the RV life is lonely. We have decided to buy a house but continue to travel 5-6 months out of the year.

We bought a 2008 40 foot motorhome with UNDER 5k miles and 12 hours on generator VERY,VERY cheaply ALL RESIDENTIAL appliances ever knew existed including residential trash compactor. But went 8 miles shy of 3k miles last month, and we spent 90% in our favorite place and are adult children favorite place called Branson,mo - we are all from Missouri. Though we live in Utah after military retirement. But, we couldnt figure out any place we wanted to visit. Our NEW car dolly holding my Prius had broke all but 1 bolt holding hitch to chasis we found that 201 miles from Utah. We LOVE to travel but we couldnt figure any place we wanted to see. Funny thing is we thought of alot of stuff AFTER we got home😅

For me/us, traveling every 7-10 days is WAY, way to frequent for me/us! Personally... staying in a location for 30-45 days is perfect and... that's more of my point. A lot of the KZbin RVers have the 7-10 days travel sechedules. For us, the longer stays reduces the travel stress significantly!

I am 70 and my husband is 72 and we have decided at this stage of our life we would rather be home. With a trailer on a seasonal lot it’s like having a second home and we just don’t want the maintenance of that anymore. I guess that is where we are at. We just want to be done.

One of the reasons I hesitated going 3/4-ft was loneliness on the road being an older solo gal. But heck I’m lonely at my S&b too! Tried getting involved in church groups but I’m a third wheel. Older folks like me are all couples & younger ones are raising families. I have no family. Darned either way . . . At least I have my dogs . . ;-)

I worked in the restaurant industry for many years. In that time I saw many older groups of men get together every morning, but I never saw older women get together for coffee. I wonder why? I am 63 and I started pottery in 2019. I took classes at a local college and I would say that 80% of my fellow students are woman who are 55+. It is so much fun and we all share a common thread with our love if clay. Maybe you could look into something like art classes in towns you are staying in to meet some people interested in things you may enjoy. Good luck in your adventures. I am sorry you are having a difficult time finding friends to share your life with. Dogs are such good friends, so I’m glad you have your Fur Babies to keep you company ❤️🦮

I started to do the RV full time two years ago. My goal was to make it to South Carolina from California but I ended up staying in Texas because I was having problems with my Chevy Tahoe and financial problems. Then I got behind in my rent at the RV park and got kicked out because I couldn't afford the rent and rental assistance doesn't help assist with the rent for RV parks but they were able to get me into an apartment. Then I had to get a job because my income had changed. So now I'm in an apartment and had to put my Travel Trailer in the shop and I had to have some major repairs done to it and now I owe the RV repair shop a lot of money which will take me a long time to pay it off but luckily they are willing to let me pay a little at a time till it's paid off. Then I can take it out on the road again. But till then I have to stay settled in my apartment but even then, I'm starting to go stir crazy because I miss my travel trailer and traveling and I can't get back out again. But this time I'm going to only do it part time and have a home base. That way I can have a place to go back to if things get too much. In a way that's better.

We aloha have 4 rentals and passive income. So I’d recommend be honest with yourself and have an exit strategy before u start this lifestyle and be practical.

We will never be full timers…nope. RV’s are homes on wheels..maintenance, repairs…yada yada yada…they bend, shift, vibrate..requiring repairs! Also, when we hit an elk within 15 minutes after leaving the campground…it took FOUR (4) months to repair..,no way would I want to bum a place to stay, hotel, VRBO, etc, during that time and with pets! Was great to have our home base to live during that time! Having come off our 40 day/12 state cross country trip…it’s SO NICE to be in a real house, space for the 2 kitties and dog, and back to our 2 chickens, neighbors, etc. It WAS GRAND to plan, to explore each RV resort, meet people…but getting back home…SO RELAXING! So..for us, we love having the motorhome to go places..taking our fur-critters, having our own space in it, Starlink for WIFI, our fun camp-cooking…and WE ARE RETIRED..so until our 34’ Tiffin Open Road becomes a hassle, we will take 2-3-4 trips a year and be home interacting with our friends and family!
