Hey Joh , learned how to layer during my first winter living in Chicago...light layering, no need for the heavy coats or sweaters, just good shoes, scarves, gloves, ear protection and a good hat!

I really like the way the henley looks under the flannel shirt. I also love wearing a well fitted vest on top. Works great here in the southeast where it doesn’t get super cold often. See you Sunday.

I really like your point of view. I am 47 and have been wearing the same clothes for like 20 years. Can you post a video that showcases the basic pieces of clothing that can go from day to evening ? I don’t want to buy a lot of clothes. Just versatile pieces that I can re-use during different occasions.

Great video, John! You made nice points when it comes to layering. I haven’t been the most confident in how to layer, as I don’t want to overdo, want to look age appropriate, and maintain a stylish look. I trust my instincts, but it’s nice to have a little guidance. Thank you, my friend!

John, As a decorated egg, I like the Peter maning style and look but I am also working in the 6ft length but wear a size 50 to 52 wid pants and 31 long pant. 4XL shirt. King Size, is where I look but want other options to look at. I taylor a lot of my clothing for a better fit. This is costly but I do my best. Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming.

Outstanding video! I didn't see the link to mixing colors and patterns. Good point about not layering too thick. Each layer traps insulating air so the layers can be thinner.

You recommend slim/fitted clothing. How can we layer clothing that is all slim fit? Or should we layer slim fit clothes with clothing that’s regular cut?
@Newbill175 жыл бұрын
Good advice John. I’m more conservative in terms of colors in layering, I’m thinking slim fit V-neck undershirt, button down Oxford style shirts, most often white, and a crew neck sweater. What I’m curious about is bombers and Harrington’s. I’d like to buy some classic style bombers or Harrington’s but I don’t really know anything about them. How about a video on the types and brands of jackets, what you like and what you don’t. Also, please talk about some stylish adult leather classics too. Just an idea. I like what you’re doing, but I’d like to also see some classic style conservative versions of what you’re recommending from time to time if possible. Don’t change what you do, but please just keep in mind some of us are interested in that angle. I’m investing in a better look and have probably spent nearly $4000.00 so far on new shoes, chinos, denim jeans, sweaters, watches, and a fortune at the tailor. Your advice has helped me a lot. Thanks.

I always do a base layer picking up a color from the next layer or complimenting it. This means colored T shirts in the Spring Summer and mock turtles and Henleys in the fall. Just for fun I counted my colored T-shirt just about 60😎

Thank you John for the great videos. I have binge watched them on my day off.. Here is the problem I have opposite to yours! I am 6'1" with overly long arms. I have resorted to Modern Tailor's website since you can submit your measurements and receive custom suit or shirts. My question is, do you know of anything to help out the athletic built men with the longer than average men's arms?
@40OverFashion4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Glen! Besides custom, a few off-the-rack shirt suggestions I've reviewed would be from, John Henric and Teddy Stratford. I've done videos on both.

John I have another question. I have a pair of expensive boot cut Jean's. I was kicking around the idea of taking them to the Taylor to fix the bottom. What are your thoughts on this. Or just leave it as fashion repeats itself. Thanks John and hope all is well.

Excellent video, again. For me, I'm not a fan of untucked shirts underneath a sweater or jacket; it just looks sloppy. There was only 1 person that ever looked good and got it right and that was Alicia Silverstone in "Clueless." Keep up the good work.

I recently purchased a men's winter vest that's very lightweight yet is great for the much cooler temps now that fall is here. Their great for layering in different styles that work quite well. Same as the hoddies you can't go wrong with them. A clothing line that i've been really investing in the last few years is Joseph Abboud,JOE for short its known by. They produce high quality men's clothing that can be pricey but you can get a very affordable discount on them much of the time. Not sure if you've heard of them. Checkout their website well worth it. Good video John! Thank you and keep up your good work on here. Always enjoy your videos mate.
