Very excited to find out Pluto is even better than I knew. Just hooked up my antenna, it's wired directly into the tv, and my OTA channels appeared on my Pluto guide! Look at that, all you rip off streaming services, trying to make us buy various pieces of equipment before you can include them on your guide. Apparently, it's kind of easy to do without your expensive boxes.

STIRR would be Epic, But "If it Loads" is borderline their catch phrase as it Buffers like a Mofo... to say nothing of the nasty habit they have of Adding commercials in place of Episode Content... (ie it still fits the 1 hour time slot, but is almost 40% commercials instead of the 1/3-1/5 like the actual OTA/Cable Feed)

Thank you so much! I just found you on KZbin! I’m a senior citizen and Dish is draining me at $98 a month! I got a Roku last year. I love all the old sitcoms like Mom and Gunsmoke, and all the news channels from CNN, CSPAN to Fox, and The History, Daystar, etc, but no sports. I love to DVR. Do you think KZbin would be the best subscription for me with an antenna for local channels! I think using a browser on either platform and pulling up the station's web address is likely the best way. The Firestick being Android allows you to download the station's app if available. KZbin maybe a viable alternative too. Let me add, if you're using a Firestick you may need it to allow downloads from unknown sources. It's easy to do. Thanks

Great video and informational, but it completely misses the point that isps screw you on internet service if you don't take their television packages , so you end up paying more than $100 a month anyway. I'm paying nearly $150 a month for internet service plus a few streaming services. I may as well go back to cable. It's all just a huge racket, mainly because the FCC allows internet service providers to get away with rip off pricing.

Thank you for all your work on this, sadly if like me you don't like sports, reality, SF and other mindless TV drivel like Fox or other spineless media shows there really isn't much worth watching on pay or free TV. My point is why bother? read a book instead, with a few exceptions even most talented writers have gone for the $ and now write co-authored cr*p. If you have a Roku tv it's available on that, but if you have a plug n play Roku device you have to switch to your antenna through your TV remote by hitting input and choosing TV with antenna connected to your TV.

And if you live where I live the only company you can use is Comcast who charge more for internet service than they do for a cable TV package that includes internet. Why you ask? Because they can. Check out Tubi and Vudu, Tubi is free with ads but Vudu has done that are pay and they have a lot that is free with ads, and also, Amazon Prime has a lot of movies, tv shows, etc, that are free and you can subscribe or buy. I have all three of these plus a lot of the others you mentioned as well.

Have you heard of kanopy? It's an app you can download on fire tv roku and apple tv. It's through your local library if they have it. You can watch 15 movies a month ad free.

yes, youtubetv is a good package, but if you don't use/want/ or like google chrome, screw you, you cannot watch, which is why google sucks... and good luck asking youtube which browsers are supported. there is an html 5 extension from youtube for opera, but it will not help. no linux allowed.

Free is great and all but we had PSVue or what ever its called and I can say the lagging is quite irritating even with great internet speeds so we got rid of it. Untill the lagging and crappy picture quality is fixed these are pretty useless unless u love to yell at your tv all day.. Sports is the worst Ive never watch a game that didnt lag. DirectTV Now Update - Aug 9, 2019. Still no local CBS Channel. They say it might be the 12th before added. Plus, found an additional nugget regarding On-Demand. DirectTV Now (or whatever they call it) updates On-Demand shows on Wednesday and Sunday. Example: Yellowstone aired Wednesday night. It won't be available until noon CDT Sunday. Online chat indicated they had issues with On-Demand content. Supposedly this will stop those issues. If I wasn't grandfathered in my plan, I'd dump this service. To be fair, they reduced my monthly bill $15 for my patience.

I wish Insignia still used Rocu for their smart tv software. Have been having problems with the picture quality on my 4k Fire Edition TV which is all they offered. Amazon provides in warranty tech support but are like teir one trouble shooters and have little access to information. Insignia only provides setup support, such as where your HDMI ports are. They should drop Amazon and return to Rocu!!!

I've been at this for a while but I pinch my pennies. I find Netflix with its tiered pricing model and rate increase insecurity scary enough. Hulu's recurring "who's on first" spasms of changing owners, repricing, and general jumping into the air and coming down at random is even worse than Netflix by a bit. However I never imaged somebody would suggest that another service costing $20, $25, and up every month is even worth one moment's consideration. Let alone two or even three of them. No wonder the cable/sat companies are able to post scare stories about cord-cutting being as expensive as cable but just more confusing. If you are naive enough, then it actually is! Everyone has his own pain point, but ditching cable just to pack on overpriced paid streaming services is... not optimal strategy. Your best value is an affordable Internet service plan with 10 to 25Mbps down, Amazon Prime you may well already be paying for, free streaming services, and an OTA antenna. Anything beyond that is purely discretionary, and you can't relax your vigilance for a second or you'll find yourself hemorrhaging cash again.

I don't totally disagree with all of that, but the ability to pick and choose, thus saving even more money in the long run, make streaming services a clear winner. For instance right now I don't have any services ordered. Why? Because it's an off season for me with no NFL or NBA. If I had cable I'd have wasted about $900 that I couldn't really take advantage of. Even with football about to start, I really don't have to order anything unless I simply choose to. Most of it is still on network tv, except what's on ESPN. ESPN can still be had for only $15 a month on SlingTV. Services like Netflix, CBS All Access, and even Hulu to some extent, allow you to binge watch in a way you never can with cable, again saving you more money. Yeah streaming is getting more expensive with networks trying dirty tricks to make up some of the money they are continuously losing, but in the end, streaming cord-cutting still holds a clear advantage to me.
