In my house, I am the person that goes behind the person loading the dishwasher rearranging items or enthusiastically telling them how to properly load it. Needless to say, they don't appreciate my expert advice. LOL It's become a running joke, and it happened again just three hours ago when my son was loading. When I told my son Nikki had just posted a video on how to load the dishwasher, he said, "What??? Are you kidding me???" LOL

Honey, I’m 48 years young and I literally was about to give up trying to use my dishwasher! It’s brand new been sitting in my kitchen since June untouched almost! and I’ve been using it for the past two weeks and don’t know what I’m doing! I have horrible arthritis in both knees and don’t like standing to do the dishes. So I said, let me take advantage of this dishwasher finally. ❤ I don’t put any of my nonstick pots/pans, knives, crystal, old vintage pieces. A chef told me once never put your chef knives, wooden spoons, wood anything, or your pots/pans. He laughed. Just because it says dishwasher safe, doesn’t mean you should put it in there. Thank you so much for your video. I always learn so much.

Thank you for making this video. I share with my family that there is a correct way to load the dishwasher, and of course they didn't totally agree (we laugh about it, and it's ok). Do you know the way to vacuum a carpet the way professionals do in the model homes, to get that vacuum pattern look??? I sure would love to see a video done, if you do. Another item that should never be put in the dishwasher are knives. Not your butter knives, but knives used for slicing, dicing, chopping and cutting. The action of the dishwasher and the harshness of the detergent will dull your knives faster than trying to cut rocks. Great video, I learned a lot. Thank you!

Both my adult daughters live with me and my peeve is when they put large plates next to the cutlery because it blocks the spray imo. Also I point steak knives down ever since I read someone tripped and fell on an open dishwasher. I bought this clean/ dirty magnet that slides left and right which is helpful

OMG I thought I was the only one that was particular Everyone’s dishwasher is different so to rinse or not to rinse depends on the dishwasher I have a method to maximize my. Dishes in the dishwasher Knives and non stick pots/pans should be hand washed to keep sharp and to lessen the non stick to come out I don’t put items like spatula or pizza cutter as I only have one so I hand wash them as I might be every other day I run the dishwasher

Thank you! Our new house has a dishwasher and I need to learn how to use it. I feel it’s unnecessary for just two of us, but it is more sanitary. There is a mold smell in the dishwasher, probably because the house was empty for three months and the washer went unused.

Interesting. I was taught that knives are also hand-wash only because they can dull. This included anything with an edge like pizza cutters and can openers

If anyone is currently watching this video, Hubby and I unload dishwasher in am and immediately put a soap pod in soap door. Then , if you open dishwasher to load, you can see that dishwasher is "Dirty" if soap drawer is closed. Once it becomes a habit it works really well and no signs to flip

About silverware, I have had spoons with a little bit of "food stuff" and have them stick together when put in the same section of the silverware basket. It is best practice to separate the various utensils so that the cleaning process can happen without things sticking together and caking on.

It's nice that you provide this but I feel alot of this should be common sense? However, we did have friends over and she was helping me clean up and she loaded the dishwasher, while I put food away. Ya, for some, common sense just isn't there! Glasses on the bottom, some plates were on top with a bowl on top of the plate, a large pan was flat on the bottom so obviously blocking the water spray from going to the top. Oh it was a mess. I said nothing because I didn't want to make her feel bad and late I took everything out and reloaded it.

One added item to avoid putting in the dishwasher are your cooking knives - the water, heat, and detergent will pit the blades, ruining your knives.

Clean the filter daily. Can be no shirking this. Open the door as soon as the cycle finishes. Steam must dry off. Best not in the compartment.
