In my experience, (one year of smoking strictly starbuzz 2-3 times a week at minimum) I learned that Starbuzz is very heat sensitive. Just like HookahRev stated, the two variables that will get you a great smoke are the bowl and coal. The best smoke I get from starbuzz is using Phunnel bowl, 2-3 coals (coconaras) and a wind cover. The wind cover is very essential because I found Starbuzz to be very sensitive to heat management. I start with wind cover on and take it off or keep it on to keep it at the perfect temp. Starts to hit slightly harsh and you just take the wind cover off and vise versa. I would blow people away with my 20 dollar hookah setup like I just said and would produce amazing clouds and great flavor. Good informative video.

It holds the heat in better, and even creates a layer of insulation between the two layers of foil. It's neat when you can smoke a bowl for a couple minutes after the coals are removed just because the foil trapped so much heat. I prefer one layer of Heavy Duty foil, rather than normal foil. You use less foil, and it still does a good job of holding the heat in.

using only one piece of foil tends to make heat management difficult.which is important. the second layer of foil reduces the amount of heat coming directly from the coals helping to prevent burning and harsh smoke.

I use a different technique on egyptian and standard clay bowl by sprinkleling it in as how u would but my finger push down on the middle hole so its kinda of like using a funnel and works just as well with good smoke flavour and airflow. (All the tobacco is sprinkled around ur left hand middle finger so u end up with a shisha donut in your bowl)

I gotta say, you use the world's biggest hole poker. I've typically used needles or push-pins, which are maybe half- to a quater-size of that. I dunno, I feel like the smaller holes, yet poking more of them, distributes the heat from the coal more evenly and would even go as far to say that it makes the draw smoother as well. I've also switched to one layer of Heavy Duty Reynolds foil. Use less foil, yet it still keeps the heat in well. I was burning too many bowls when double-wrapping.

I've heard about that quite a bit. They say things along the lines of, "If you don't mind playing around with the thing a bit at first, you'll love it. If you just want to load it, light it, and smoke it, buy a vortex, phunnel, or other bowl." Maybe I'll just get a vortex along with it, in case this doesn't work out. If you look up a picture of the Silver Dragon Flip and the Sahara Smoke Dragon Hookah, you'll see what I mean by a match made in heaven. :P

How dry they are mostly. Nakhla is super dry compared to SB and burns very easily. If you pack it more dense it has less air moving through it so it doesnt burn as much. SB is SUPER juicy so it needs more air to burn more.

I can only see people poking holes in the middle if they are having problems with the foil getting sucked down into the spire. Also, poking a hole or a few holes in the middle will allow for a but more air, some like it some don't it is all preference. I personally do just because I have been doing it for so long and have stuck with it.

Fancy hose washes very easy, but doesn't absorb and keep flavors very well. I use a leather KM hose for double apple because it retains the flavor very well. I would never dedicate a Fancy hose to a flavor.

Just wanted to say I love watching your videos and was just wondering wouldn't it make sense to just use 1 layer of aluminum foil rather than 2. The more foil thats on the head takes a lot of charcoal to get the tobacco burning up. That's what I've been doing and it saves me a lot of charcoal that way.

i got it, used it once, regret buying it i mean there are some people that love it, i don't you need to find the perfect height adjustment for the coals, otherwise you will burn it really quick or there wont be enough heat and it will start dripping everywhere and just get really really messy. i found that i had to sit there for the whole session playing with the height adjustment all the time and made the whole experience sloppy when all i want is to sit back and relax

How about a tangier's pico? I use 2 Razan coconut coals, and I 'tombstone' or 'Stonehenge' them opposite of each other on the rim of the bowl. I haven't had to much of a problem in the past, maybe just losing flavor faster than I would prefer.(How long should a session last in a Pico with one of these brands, packed this way?) I am very interested in this because I just ordered about 1,500g of Fumari/Fantasia which as stated are very similar to Starbuzz. Thanks! Great videos!

I went to Sitara on Thursday and I wanted to try cane mint. Even the waitress said it was very strong. I tried it out but wasn't strong all. I've never tried tangiers.

I can tell ya why....its because alot of people talk about "flavor" alot of other brands dont have the TASTE like starbuzz, people seem to think the cool thing to do is to not like the best brand and go with things that arent at the top...the same goes with music, its cool not to like the best. go with what YOU like i still havent found my favorite, brand but i havent tried enough variety to really decide but so far starbuzz tastes and smokes the best.

i smoke alot of starbuzz in my vortex bowl, however i only use two coals since using 3 tends to make me go through a box off coco-naras really fast. so i was wondering whats better: using one sheet of regular duty tinfoil and 2 coals, or using 2 sheets of tinfoil and 3 coals.

Hi jake, thank you for this video. Helps me out a lot. I have got one question, my coconara coals, about half way thru a smoke session, the middle stays red hot but the top and bottom are not staying hot. Is this a bad batch or is it im not heating them properly? I heat them on an electric stove burner

Why do you use two layers of foil? All I can assume is that is makes most of the heat come through the holes instead of the foil, but I'm not really understanding the benefit there, so I'm assuming that I'm wrong or just don't see the benefit.

How are the new vortex bowls as far as consistency? What I mean is, a few years ago when I was really in to Hookah, some times the holes would be set very low on the post. I got lucky on mine and the holes are up nice and high on the post. I'd assume they've gotten the process down now and they come out more regular.

I tried this method on a vortex 3 times (exactly how you did it) but it still gets burnt within 5 mins. The tobacco is no where near the foil but it still gets burnt. Any thoughts?

I really enjoy Starbuzz, but I personally think that after smoking one flavor of shisha for too long you grow accustomed to the taste so the flavor sucks. I personally hate Fantasia tobaccos, they're good if you need something in a pinch and aren't expecting to get more of a weekend out of it. I prefer Starbuzz for the flavor, but when it comes to strength I prefer Nahkla, specifically Dubapp + White Grape.

Hey I'm trying to get into hookah but why is it that the 2 times I tried hookah, once at a hookah lounge and one at a club. Why is it that I cough? Ive had friends who just do one at a time ike that. Just put the coals in a different spot each time. If you put it in the same spot, it wil just taste burnt. Then again, I know I'm a rookie, but I stil got a high with this method. I ike to save shisha as much as possible!
