When it comes to how to lose fat, there are some differences between men and women, and it goes beyond the simps differences in how we store it. In this video we look at how to lose fat, the right way, for men VS women. As you probably already know, men and women have different trouble spots when it comes to where they store fat. We’ll not only look at how men and women differ in terms of fat storage but we’ll also uncover several strategies that address the challenges that each face in their pursuit of fat loss.

Subscribe to this channel here - / jdcav24
For men, trouble spots tend to be in the chest. Chest fat, or man boobs start to develop when men are carrying too much body fat. The waist line or Love Handles is another trouble spot. Perhaps the most notable trouble spot is in the mid section or beer belly.
Even in examples of significant leanness men will store fat deposits in very specific areas of their mid section such as their lower abdominals and lower back.
For women, the fat loss trouble differ. Fat deposits on the backs of the arms creating’bat wings’. Women also experience more fat storage in their lower bodies; hips, thighs and calves. You’ve probably heard the terms saddlebags, cankles or muffin top to describe these trouble spot. This is evident in women who appear to be skinny or skinny fat, you’ll see that the areas mentioned above often show signs of extra fat deposited.
Many of the differences in where fat is stored come down to hormones, specifically Testosterone and Estrogen. Men and women don’t only have different trouble spots however, they also have different types of fat storage as well. Testosterone often creates more visceral fat. That is, fat stored behind the muscle sounding the organs.
Classic examples of this type of fat are men that have a rock hard protruding beer gut. This is caused by the fat actually pushing out against the layer of abdominal muscle. Since visceral fat surrounds the vital organs, this type of fat is more dangerous. Typically we see higher cases of heart disease in men often caused by their increased storage of visceral fat.
Women on the other hand have more subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat is often driven by the binding of estrogen. While this type of fat is less dangerous than visceral fat it can still be troublesome and if you have it, you likely want it gone!
When it comes to strategies for losing fat the recommendation for women is to focus on exercises, specifically strength training over steady state cardio. Strength training will allow women to add muscle to their frames which is not only anabolic in itself, but will also help increase their existing levels of testosterone which will also help aid in fat loss.
For men, the focus should almost always be on nutrition. Since men have larger amounts of testosterone already, and likely carry more muscle mass as a result, they will generally want to focus on getting their eating in check. This will help lower their body fat especially when done in conjunction with a smart exercise program.
In addition to the tips above regarding fat loss through proper nutrition and exercise, you can also try incorporating some of mother natures secret ingredients. Foods like Oysters for additional Zinc, Red Grapes for Resveratrol, cruciferous vegetables for their high levels of phytochemicals. Other excellent foods to incorporate are mushrooms and fresh ginger.
As I always say on this channel, there is no shortcut to getting the results you want but with a scientific approach to nutrition and training you can achieve your fitness goals.
For more information on training and a proven meal plan that delivers real results, be sure to head to the link below and see what training like an athlete is all about. @findingnory

True, but you missed the emphasis he put on the different genders. He talked about the difference in hormonal levels between men and women and encouraged women to do any kind of strength training as their bodies respond quickly. He also said ANY resistance training (including treadmills) will be beneficial for subcutaneous fat burning. However, for men, he emphasized that just any resistance training is not good enough. So, if the goal is to burn fat, men should stop running on the treadmill except for cardiovascular health. Also, while everyone benefits from healthy food, men HAVE to eat better to see any type of results because their fat is visceral. You cannot get rid of this fat just by sweating a little.

And this is exactly why I LOVE Jeff. Dude isn't spitting out ads trying to sell his product - he gives you the information, then tells you about his product at the end. Mind you haters, this is all FREE, ACCURATE, and HELPFUL information! He knows about what he is speaking, and for that, I thank him. He's a thing dude with muscle yet still doesn't like his love handles which just goes to show overweight people, you can be your ideal body weight or "if I were a little thinner, I'd be fine" and still not be happy (not saying Jeff isn't happy, I'm just speaking in general). Gain some confidence and you'll be fine.

For sure...I'm 62 and just a few years ago had a magazine body and then kinda relaxed and got on a slow but steady downslide until I looked in the mirror and went Enough...now I have had to resort to an extreme clean diet: egg(s) and berries/veggies for bfast, then protein and a huge portion of cauliflower/broccoli/spinach for either lunch/dinner and a low cal MRP for my other meal....throw in some almonds and/or walnuts and lots of water and that is my diet plan. I also am back at the gym 5 to 6 times a week, lifting hard. I haven't yet started doing HIT interval training but I am almost at the fitness level I can start doing some of that too. Just after a couple weeks already seeing nice results, tummy is down and seeing a bit of definition, but I have lower stomach fat and lower back fat and love handles to deal with...so I figure a target date of March 1st will have some good results.

Shelby Kincaid it isn’t so much that the information is new. Protein has been blamed for kidney problems, which is simply not true in less you have a preexisting kidney issue. Osteoporosis which also if you look at long term studies isn’t the case. And a large number of people who develop heart disease had high protein diets. Which when you look at them closer you will find is is more about poor diet choices and a lack of a balanced diet that the protein itself. Because of these types of accusations many people are starting to advocate lower protein diets. I got into shape in my 40’s and stay in shape with a higher protein diet. So I believe in it, but the trend is towards lower protein diets.

@@ericdahl2915 French fries and chips etc. are made from potatoes which in themselves are not fattening, in fact potatoes are THE most satiating food. It's when you fry them in pure oil you run into problems, fats being more readily stored and twice as caliorie dense on a gram per gram basis. So french fries should be thought of as a junk food first but as a fatty food second because ~50 % of the calories are from fat compared to 0.1% in regular potatoes.

Strength training. Large muscle groups. So, ya want more muscle...do more Strength training... Use your legs, like focus on amount of weight used not necessarily so much on more reps. You want the muscles to work harder as opposed to working faster or longer. Not looking for that cardio heart rate. That said...don't HURT yourself by OVER doing it! Tax the muscles a little more than they are used to. NOT DAMAGE POINT changes!!

Thank you so much, this is an awesome summary of how we should be doing things. As a female I have found a lot of benefit and progress while avoiding soy (it stimulates estrogen). It's impressive the amount of soy used in regular food, so check labels for that! I love japanese and chinese food and they use it a lot, so that's my only allowance, but having it daily for example in a mayonnaise, any bread or chocolate chip cookie is too much.

Finally, a channel that is just straight up. I've been trying to sculpt my body for years now. (20 years old, 5'4 and 123 llbs) I go to the gym 4 days a week and work out 6-7 days a week. I'm recovering from an eating disorder where I ate nothing for days or less than 500 calories a day. I was told lose weight to get more muscle definition and I just lost all my muscle and got skinny fat. I then was told to bulk and I just gained 15 llbs and yes gained muscle and shape but now I've got a higher body fat%. I've been sold supplements and told so many contradicting rules that my bodys metabolism is ruined and now after watching these videos, ditching the insta models bullshit diets. I'm finally starting to see a difference and getting better. Thank you for educating dumb asses like me.

you are not dumb. it's hard to know up from down with everything floating around us as facts 24/7. my daughter has an eating disorder too, and it is never about being dumb. be kind to yourself, love yourself, you are worth it ❤

I know this is an old video, but I would love to see a video on the differences between women training heavily post-menopausal as compared to their younger years. As men age they lose testosterone, and as women age they lose estrogen. In my case I am both post-menopausal and as a breast cancer survivor taking an aromatase inhibitor, and having had a double mastectomy without reconstruction, I am unsure where my body fat percentage should be. I am assuming I should be on the higher end of the male spectrum. LOVE to hear more content for the 50+ crowd, especially women in that range.

I definitely agree. There is nothing that addresses post-menopausal women. I've worked out since I was very young and definitely see a difference. The question is what do I do now?
