Was expecting this to be more post menopausal, but it was more women going through menopause and estrogen changes during their cycle. I am definitely post menopausal at 73. Skinny but with a belly. Not giving up on my Intermittent Fasting and adding the right foods. I believe it should work still.

I’m 55 was gaining weight after menopause. Sleep was poor (waking up with hot flashes and anxiety). I slowly eliminated sugar. Then after a few weeks I eliminated bread/pasta. Increased protein, healthy fats, and healthy fiber. I added things like chia pudding, hemp seeds and Keto coffee. Next came intermittent fasting (12-17 hours). But only eating 2 super satisfying meals a day to avoid spiking my insulin less often. About once a month, I can get in close to a 24 hour fast, which honestly feels so good. My digestive system feels tired and a longer fast feels medicinal! Lastly, I took up roller skating. I roller skate almost everyday because I love it. I can’t recommend enough how life changing a beloved physical activity can be. Being in better physical condition to skate is part of my motivation, but honestly, I feel better than I have in decades. I don’t own a scale, but I own a tape measure and have dropped several inches (2 dress sizes) in the last few months. Feeling better, sleeping better, and skating better have been the gifts that keep on giving. Dr. Mindy, your guidance has been essential through all of this. I can’t thank you enough.

P.S. I do eat potatoes, bread and pasta a couple times a week, but always with or after fiber rich foods. My husband made chocolate chip cookies, and yes, I had some, but only after a super-dinner and with Keto decaf coffee! After searching my whole life, I feel like I have found a sustainable and flexible system! Thanks again!

I’m 60 years young and can only maintain my weight through IF. My sleep cycle is very badly affected, that’s the negative effect but it’s worth it. Menopause just wants to be the boss but I keep that monster under control through fasting. Thanks for all your advice and support. 💕

By the way, I do Keto, I follow 18 hours fasting every day, walk 30 min daily, weight lifting workout for 30 min three times per week. With this video I'm convinced I did the right choice!

I’m 58 and been doing keto and 20-4 IF. Played with carbs and can’t do 50 carbs. I didn’t lose weight. When I kept total carbs at 20 grams, I have been losing weight. At least 15 come from vegetables and 5 from chia seeds. Went thru menopause in early 50s.

Your book “Fast Like a Girl” is excellent!. I’ve chosen Sunday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon 72 hour fasting. Depending where I am in my 30 day cycle I do H20 Fast or Sardine Fast. It’s been much easier knowing the Hormones. I’ve stopped beating myself up for lack of will power. Now I understand The Why.

@@stephaniesamra7960 I do 72 hours, every week. For a total of eight weeks. Then I take a break. See where m numbers are and decide my next step. There’s really no one size fits all here. Our bodies are all unique. Today, my numbers were really good. I even showed a few pounds vanquished. Yippee! I have a great excel sheet I made too. If ever I may b of support to you.

Dr LN has a much more of a prescribe HRT approach than MP. I personally find MP’s approach to be the most helpful as it will reduce my need to rely on HRT as heavily as may otherwise be the case.

I love Dr.Louise - watching her and Trinny gave me confidence to ask for HRT - which really helps - although not with weight loss....after 18 months at the gym, I'd toned a bit, but the weight is coming off following Dr.Mindy' s advice

It would be useful to know what and how to combine this with HRT as some people’s symptoms are so bad even when doing Keto and fasting that you have to unfortunately take hormones alongside the steps to survive.

@@kayl3275 I think that is the challenge. The thoughts we carry as women that HRT is a crutch and if we just “suck it up” we can move through this “transition” (some think of a 2 year time frame,) without needing HRT. Many women start with symptoms 10 years prior to stopping menses and they continue into their 80’s. And I’m not talking hot flashes and night sweats. Those are not the top two. Hormones are required for every cell in our bodies to function optimally. Now we have completely body identical hormones available that were not used during the WHI study 20 years ago. There are more health risks involved in NOT taking HRT than in taking advantage of it. Including preventing dementia and osteoporosis. (Testosterone is available in a cream, vaginal pessaries or pellet forms. In the UK starting dose is 5 ml daily.) I started estrogen and progesterone at 52. I’m now 67. At 64 I realizedI needed testosterone when urinary/vulvar pain began and I lost motivation to do the things I enjoy. I personally don’t want to live a third of my life without the hormones my cells need to function beautifully.

Thank you! I am post menopause. Lost nearly 40 lbs back in 2019-2020 with keto and fasting, gained about 30 lbs back and I can see from your trainings it's likely due to my high stress, insulin resistance, adrenal fatigue (hysterectomy over 20 years ago) and doing the same fasting schedule and food choices over and over. You continue help me over and over!! 🎉💖 I'm downloading Fast Like A girl to my kindle tonight and make a plan!! I LOVE FASTING and I'm so relieved fasting will still be a part of my tool belt!

I'm soooo happy I found you! I'm learning the fasting lifestyle now (a month and a half in). This information, and your books and videos are a god send! Thank you! The scale has budged a bit, AND I've lost some inches. I'm 59 and still feel a phantom cycle and am keeping a calendar. There are 12 days of so when it's easy to lean into the longer fasts, and 7-8 days when it's a great relief to not count macros and enjoy spuds and sweet spuds (I became an accidental farmer of both potato types and they come out of my garden kinda small in these tidy, tiny portion sizes). A thousand thanks! I'm in for the long haul. . .

Hallo Dr Mindy. I am on the keto lifestyle for 8years. I am post menopausal now not losing any weight and I am never in ketosis. I do IF 20:4 and somedays I do a 24 hour fast and just not losing any weight. My tummy is just getting bigger. I do weight training 3 days a week and the other days I will walk or do any exercise. I am also on BHRT for 3years and also I am chronic constipation. I just received your 2books so now I must start reading. Thank you for all the info💕

I was doing cycle class just Monday and Wednesdays and a lot of cardio the rest of the days.Then I noticed that I stop having the same energy. And anyways I wasn't loosing weight.😂😂😂😂🥺😢😭 😭😭I start doing HIIT 3 times a week. Weight lifting 3 times a week. I was diabetic now prediabetic and I need to loose 6 pounds. Almost there but is taking me a lot of work. Of course fasting and keto. I am only thankful that I don't have menopausal symptoms. Quite the journey but we need to meet our goals and we will feel much better. Thank you dr Pelz for sharing as always. We women appreciate it. 🤗

Dr Mindy thank you so much once again for the big help I have been following EVERYTHING from your book and videos and I feel great. Just got the survival guide thank you! Haven’t been able to find answer to my question. In the past, I’ve not been able to get in to ketosis easily with 1-2 day fasts. On waking after 60 hours fasting, I had glucose 54 & ketones as high as high as strip goes. I ate a teaspoon of honey & made a keto protein shake with avocado. Saw your video explanation of ketone values but only said with high glucose.

I've started my fasting from last Friday night 10pm, so now is 69hrs now. Will see of I can escape the supper with mom later tonight.😉 Otherwise 70hrs for this time! My very first time fasting over 30hrs. I swam for 30min for the last two days(not today though) and walked for 2to3km before bed. Slept for few hrs and lay in bed for another 3hrs as feeling weak and tired. My experience of fasting is that I used to join thirty hrs famine held by World Vision for any years. And recently try 168 or one meal (supper)only a day.~

Im in my 60s deit variation I can do. I went on antibiotics three weeks ago and my body is so off wack. I've gained weight all in my belly and having one heck of a time losing. Going to try some of the things you mentioned that I am not doing. Microbiome... doing more detox also working on stress.

53, still regular cycle, been IF for at least 6 months, no weight loss. I'm , low carb, exercise regularly, go outside, i dont drink, and cook most meals, but i can't seem to lose any weight. In fact, i have gained 10 pounds this year so it must be hormones. I dont know what to change? I have tried keto as well, and id say im tecnically keto, doesnt wrk either.

I'm post menopausal, 55, and have pots syndrome. So low carb is good for me. Unfortunately fasting causes issues as does only eating 2-3 times a day. As the meals are bigger and when digesting palpitations and high heart rate are up. To manage symptoms, we're taught to eat smaller meals more frequently. How can I reap the benefits of fasting?

I did a week of straight keto and 5 days of walking..today Monday my glucose is 59 and my keytones are 0.6.......also did 16 or more hours of intermittent fasting everyday..I wanted to fast today for 2 days but I'm concerned about the low glucose so I might just do sardines..I'm 69 so not in menopause lol..oh to add i ate Yummy meat and fish and veggies and eggs and vegan keto foods like pumpkin bread and coconut pancakes..lol

Dr. Mindy I am so grateful to find you. I am following your channel watching your videos for sometime now. And I definitely learnt a lot. Thanks a lot. I am premenopausal women 43, and fasting between 14-18 hours now: I specifically have 2 question: first what do you think about those supplements ( plants driven) that helps the estrogen level ( Soja extracts, Sage extracts) .. my doctor was very neutral about them?! Does it really help with hormonal balance?! Or is it harmful and disturbing the body hormonal balance?! The second question: I got a blood test ( fasting for 4 months now) and HbA1 was 5,1 but the cholesterol surprisingly was 213, HDL was 93 .. should I worry ( obviously I am consuming much egg and butter that I used) . Thanks very much, and God bless, keep on the amazing work enlightening us :) :)

Calling Dr. Mindy! Question please: ( not about menopause, I’m a guy lol.. ) recently implemented Coconut oil into my wellness lifestyle and the results have been amazing! How do you recommend fasting for women below 35 and also in the 40-50 window , who are on birth control pill or another hormone altering /mirena/ etc- since the normal ebbs and flows of estrogen and progesterone are not happening?

I'm struggling. I'm 44. I want thru menopause at the age of 18. (POF: premature Ovarian Failure) I have post Menopausal hormone levels for over 25 years. I've been obese 90% of my life. Fasting makes me feel like crap. Help

Sorry you have been struggling your whole life with weight gain. Please watch Dr Mindy's vids on carnviore diet with fasting. See also Kelly hogan, Nutrition with Judy and steak and butter gal vids on carnviore diet. This diet works. Kelly & Steak & butter gal have a lot of testimonies interview vids on carnviore diet and how many have lost a ton of weight. Many with women over 40/50/60 years of age. watch Dr mindy pelz vids "7 types of fasting" (change up your fasting include 3 day fasting and "rolling 72 fasting"), "Dr fasting", "how to re-feed after a fast". Many will transition from keto to carnviore. Some go slowly to carnviore because with both you will get "keto flu" and "Carnivore flu" and may end up with loose stools (that will go away)....for a few days and you will need to take electrolytes (see dr mindy & others above info on this). your library will most likely have books on keto diet and carnviore diet. Vary your fasting length and when you fast. Eat whole nutritious foods in your eating window. Night shift workers still produce melatonin but less than day shift workers. @drmindypelz I need advice on a good protein powder I can use to make smoothies to break my fast. I am currently using Transparent Labs 100% Grass Fed Whey Protein because it has no sugars added. Unfortunately, that protein is pretty expensive. Is there anything with a similar quality but a better price point?

I heard yesterday not to fast if my adrenals are fatigued? I am thinking I might and since I just got sober 7 months ago, but all my blood work is normal is this any factor or is there a video?

Thank you so much for your ongoing support and work! Just finished all your books and recommend them ! Keto works well for weight loss for me but is way to stressful on my body since I suffer fromstress and chronic fatigue, I can´t sleep then. Lowcarb with up to 100g net carbs seems doable and is less stressful but I am not sure if I am going to loose weight on it, I fast up to 18 hours 5 days a week and still put weight on. Does taking a small amount of bioidentical Progesterone during Perimenopause help or does it make the other hormones worse?

@@DrMindyPelz Thank you. I purchased the Menopause Reset & workbook. It’ll all be coming by the 6th. Just an FYI… I’m finishing my 136 hour fast. I went from 146 to 136! I have a lot more to go, but I am now drinking my broth with butter, 2 cups & drinking it slow. I’m going to have my first ribeye meal, veggies & salad with my dad later. That meal will more likely be leftovers for later or the following day. I’ll be taking two days off then starting another 2-3 day fast. I thank you again for ur channel!
