@@elmirbrdar1045 .....a few seconds. This is a joke. I hav been teaching breathing for 30 years and this is nothing short of a joke. I encourage my students to do minimun 20 minutes every day of specific disciplined exercises. I tell them that thery may start to noticE some real differences after four years and even then I would never guarantee any change in anything, just that overall there will be tremendous benefits, but who is to say what those benefits will be exactly. I have taught several thousand people, few continue to practice every day.

Dr. Story, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure 3 weeks ago, I’ve been watching your videos which have been helpful for my anxiety. My new doctor said he does a lot of deep breathing several times a day. The nurse took my BP and it was 151/78, at the end of my appointment my doctor took a reading encouraging me to do the deep breathing and it was 138/78. He was very pleased and so was I! I will continue to watch your videos which have been so helpful and beneficial ! Thank you, you helped get me through a rough three weeks!

I developed this issue a few years ago. The anxiety is not just at the doctor's office...its whenever I have to take it...even at home. I took my pressure early this morning. Anxiety high... 133/100. I waited about 30 minutes and then completed your breathing technique and it went down to 107/79. I can honestly say... for the past 3 years...my doctor have overprescribed my BP medication. Not only does my anxiety rise when I am at the doctor...so does my anger. I no longer trust my doctor (Kaiser) .

@sherriawilliams 8617 Trust Almighty God instead and have faith in yourself .There is no cure for blood pressure in allopathic medicines. Continuous use of these medicines will have harmful side effects on your body. Change your lifestyle. Live disciplined life, take diet which is absolutely natural. Use Himalayan pink salt instead of man made table salt. Eat healthy food such as fresh fruits and vegetables including good sources of protein as well. Proper sleep and rest are very much essential. Physical exercise, yoga, meditation etc will help you to come out from this problem. Stress, worry, tension and fear of any kind should be kept away from the mind. Don't think much about any kind of diseases. May Almighty God bless you always with good health, happiness and long peaceful life. .

Anxiety or White coat syndrome as some call it can be the problem. Just an a general anxiety disorder can cause it to rise in doctors office. The blood pressure meds are worthless as some have stated and the side effects are crazy. Monitor it at home when your relaxed, alone and calm, vs in the office or when your stressed. Doctors are way too stupid and busy to figure it out and you get to sample like 10 meds to find they won't work. Breathing and mindfulness are fine and dandy but a trip to Mexico or street doctor can lower your blood pressure for real and treat your anxiety which American doctors will not treat nor know how to treat.

Before ever seeing this video, I have done this several times and it definitely works. When using one of those public BP machines, I have done exactly as the Doctor describes and in less than one minute, the reading is in a much better range. As he experienced, I tried to tell someone who takes meds for high BP, but they would not even consider the thought of eliminating their MEDS! When so many people have that mentality, the pharmaceutical companies are assured to continue to make BILLIONS!

Thank you so much. I am 40 years old and 17 weeks pregnant and was told my blood pressure was on the high side. The problem is that I have anxiety disorder which I dont take medicine for and I have serious white coat syndrome, stems from five years ago when we had a sick child in the hospital who eventually passed away. I am just a nervous nelly now at the doc. I tried this and used my home BP monitor. My pressure went from 138/92 to 127/80.

When I was about 30, I hadn't eaten lunch and stopped on the way to the Doc and grabbed an OJ and 5 of those hard stick pretzels, munching them down on the way to the appointment. I had a high reading which concerned the Doc enough to give me a BP reader to take home. Next few days it was normal, but on my next visit it was high again. That's when I learned about "white coat" syndrome and for the next 25 years or so, I would go to the Doc, get a high reading, we'd chat, relax and than the reading was better. As I got older, I started pressing it, trying to force the calm on with long steady breaths but not pushing on the exhale. I works.... but then again it should. As an engineer, thinking like the body is a machine .... when the body needs more oxygen, the heart will respond by pushing more blood , no ? With the breathing, you are basically filling your bloodstream with oxygen, which should make the heart beat slower. Having taught fluid mechanics... less flow = less friction = less pressure.

Here's the answer to the question you're asking: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoK1eqSIrc6Ceqs In short...69 and 77 are considered "normal" just as the ages 7 or 9 are considered "children." It really doesn't matter. Observe the systolic number. The entire blood pressure normalized. Watch the video on the most common questions.

I’m going to tell you about five common ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen that can cure high blood pressure. ⏩ 1) Quercetin - A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has reported that a 200 mg supplement of quercetin increased levels of nitric acid in the blood, thus dilating blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. But we saved the best for last.⏩ 2) Celery - A recent study based in China, published by the National Institute of Health (NIH), hails celery as a great natural option for reducing blood pressure. More than 87% of the participants showed a reduction in blood pressure after consuming celery regularly.⏩ 3) Melatonin - It’s been used for years as a natural sleeping medicine with no side effects. But surprisingly, an Italian research study published in the American Journal of Hypertension shows it also brings blood pressure down while you sleep. ⏩ 4) Hawthorn - Hawthorn extract and hawthorn berries have been shown to have very good blood pressure-lowering effects, almost equivalent to prescription drugs. The best thing about hawthorn is that it not only lowers blood pressure, but also strengthens heart muscles.⏩ 5) Pomegranate juice - This elixir has enough medicinal value to earn the name ‘wonder fruit.’ Scottish researchers from Queen Margaret University have identified how amazing it works for lowering blood pressure. The most effective, quickest and easiest way to lower blood pressure naturally are 3 easy blood pressure exercises. Sometimes we can be rushing to a medical appointment, walked very fast or felt anxious or worried with something in mind. This may also affect blood pressure in some people. So your readings at a clinic before seeing the doctors can be higher than when you measured it at home at anytime in a more relaxed state.

It worked! Despite being relaxed, though maybe slighly anxious about stuff, I was getting around 140/80 - repeatedly. I've been getting even higher readings sometimes too recently. I tried big, slow, deep breaths, really feeling my lungs filling then emptying, for a few minutes, and I got 116/78 - which for me is brilliant. Really goes to show how we can still have some immediate positive influence over something like blood pressure, and (for me) it highlights how sustained stress and my psychological response to it are something to urgently focus on (as well as orher lifestyle changes).

Whereas deep breathing can be great for relaxation and temporary lowering of BP, other things are even more important for long term good BP and hearth health, including regular exercise, good sleep, and a diet high in vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts & seeds. Eating this way also tends to maintain proper weight while promoting overall health and longevity (reducing risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, dementia, and other major diseases). And it does it better than medication, which generally on;y treat the symptoms, not the causes. Certain foods have been shown to be especially good for maintaining good BP, including leafy greens (Kale, spinach, etc), beets, garlic, onions, and flax seeds. In contrast, the SAD (standard American diet), which is dominated by processed foods & refiined oils, simple carbs (cake, sweets, white bread, etc), and heavy meat and dairy consumption, fosters all these diseases as well as high BP. For more info and evidence for this, see Furman's book _Eat to Live_. As he shows, it is never too late to start making these changes, since very positive effects can be seen in weeks or less. Since each person is different tho, always check with your doctor before altering or reducing medications.

I was just rejected for the 7th time because of extremely high BP. I was rejected from having elective minor surgery for which I needed to be sedated for a few minutes. But I could never manage to get my BP under 200 and of course my doc wouldn't perform any sedation on me or any surgery, with that high BP reading. I wish I'd known this technique. I did do some deep breathing beforehand every time, but it never helped, my BP just kept climbing every time they repeated it. I did just discover a video about lowering BP by taking a daily detox drink containing garlic, ACV and extra virgin olive oil. I've seen my BP go from pver 200 to 115, and I'm hoping that the next time I go for surgery, if my BP is still high initially, I will try this technique and fingers crossed, it will work. I need this surgery so badly, as I am crippled from sciatic pain and can't walk without aid for more than 20 feet. I am starting a new job at months end and need to be able to walk normally! So it's very important to me that I get my BP PERMANENTLY down!! Thanks and I'll let you know what happens!

I started this exercise recently from one of your other videos and I do it at night when I go to bed. It is very relaxing, so much so that I don't get to finish before I start to doze off. I find myself falling asleep faster and saying asleep longer than before. I try to do the 30 reps that you suggested in your other video and less than half the time I get finished. I am so excited about this and hope that I don't have to take melatonin again to aid my sleep. Thank you so much.

It's actually a good advice, I did it repeatedly and it works efficiently. I knew about banana & garlic, didn't know about breathing, I mean we all breathe regardless, but the deep inhale exhale is just great. It has truly improved my blood pressure to lower every 20 minutes. I'm really surprised, thank-you from Addis Ababa 🌻

Great information. One thing to note, the breathing technique is so you can get a correct reading. I don't think it changes your health. A lot of people are on blood pressure medication shouldn't be. The doctor is saying relax so we can see if your low number is too high. Anything will raise your pressure. A better means of determining high blood pressure is needed.

THIS IS THE YOGA CALLED "PRANAYAM" ; with deep breath and closed glottis you are pressing the vagus nerve and vagus controls the heart rate and parasympathetic control of blood vs. the immediate result is reseting the heart and bp to lower level. it also increases the cortisol and lowers the adrenaline if it is practiced daily. yogis in India realized that breathing this technique is essential to control the autonomic nv system and control the situation such as stress . it was promulgated to public education and healthy life style .

Excellent advice. Thank you. Ironically I actually did this breathing exercise when I was struggling to breathe due to Covid. In my youth I was a swimmer and I decided this would help, despite a Doctor saying she didn’t think it would. Granted Covid depleted O2, but I felt it was beneficial because the deep breaths were better than the short gasping ones as well as the overall feeling of being calmer/more relaxed. My personal Doctor agreed with me and couldn’t believe a fellow Doctor would have reservations. I really appreciate your sage advice. Although, when I’m incorporating certain things like Magnesium etc, I will discuss with my Doctor first because I’m on quite a cocktail of cardiac meds. Thankfully my Doctors know I prefer natural treatments, even homeopathic or herbal rather than so called Orthodox. Conservative Management is definitely the way to go for me.

Chinese alternative medicine, 3 leaf herbal tea, Hibiscus, camomile tea; acupuncture massage reflexology, cold bath showers, steam room sauna, swimming after working out, worshipping praying to God and going to church as I'm on apixaban 2 times a day to prevent PE and paracetamol if needed. I stopped taking modern medicine before I got injured in an accident. Now because of the accident, which pinched my left shoulder nerve, I can feel a restriction in blood flow, as they found due to limited movement for 8 weeks or so a blood clot caused pleurisy in my right lung and sent me to hospital. After 3 days, a visit from Mom and Dad and a church Minister, I was fully recovered and healed but still on medication until next couple of months. Hypertension, overweight when I used to be real active surfing, biking, 🏀⚽🎾, etc.

It absolutely does work. Thanks a ton. I just came back from a whole day of driving and was feeling very uneasy. My bp was 135. I did this exercise and now it is 120. I am feeling relaxed. My mom used to tell me to breathe deep and I used to get irritated at her for teaching me how to breathe. From now on I am going to do this regularly.
