How to LS Swap - Episode 6 - Fuel Tank

Today we continue our "How to LS Swap" series with getting our new gas tank in the car. This is part 1 of 2 for the fuel system in the series. There was a decent amount of preparation work needed before the tank could be put in the car so I decided to make it 2 parts. Our car is a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air but this guide will broadly apply to any older American car. If you have any questions please leave them below!
You will need a bespoke tank for your vehicle, don't buy the tank I'm using and expect it to fit every car.

Thank you for making such a detailed well explained video on everthing you do. I watch the video of you building the 5.3 LS till now you putting it inside a vehcile. I watched a lot of videos where people just talk about what it takes to LS swap a car but never showed every single step like you do. Your videos deserve way more views. Crazy to think chrisfix gets millions and millions of views for doing basic maintenance. While you over building engines from scratch to rebuilding a car. Great work, much respect 🙏💪

Fun fact… those helper springs ( coil overs) you have one the rear shocks are the same ones I put on my 70 Firebird back when I got it in 1998… they actually work pretty good

I did this same thing to a non-fuel injected tank. What are your thoughts on having baffles in the tank? My retrofit doesn't have them, and I can tell it sputters every once in a while. Even though the fuel pump has the "Sock" on the end.

Pro tip. A quick spray with Rustoleum (or any rust preventative primer) on the hardware/fasteners will make your life a lot easier should you ever need to repair/replace pumps, floats, or gaskets.

Another option for an old car is an EFI surge tank

@@2carpros the tanks are pretty small and include the pump, which is nice too.
