@@northpole8318 When I first started I used to scoop up stacked order as I thought those led to the best pay. What I discovered was (it seems like) usually one of the orders is garbage, and the other carries the majority of the pay. As if they mix a small pay order with a larger pay order because nobody was picking up the smaller order. For example let's say you get a $20 stack, and one is for $3 and the other is for $17. The $3 (in this example) is in an apartment complex and it took a lot of time to deliver. Ultimately, you ended up wasting time when you could've just done the $17, and taken another order for more than $3. The other time waster is if the orders are in two separate stops. Even if they're close together this still takes extra time, and what if one, or both of those locations isn't ready? You literally lose money standing there waiting. I will still take a stack order, if the overall miles is very low. I like a stack coming from one restaurant to two locations for under 5 miles total. When I was new I felt the urge to take everything, now my acceptance rate on doordash is 9%. I went from a little over $20 per hour when I started to over $35 / hour consistently today. The way I did this was delivering during the dinner rush, , multi-apping between DD and UE, and only accepting orders < 6 miles total that pay more than $1.50 / mile MINIMUM. Decline, decline, decline.

As a part-time Uber driver. I average over $800 a week (27 hours a week). I’m a 4.99 rated driver with nearly 6,000 drives. I consider myself to be personable yet respectful. I only engage when engaged. Yet, tips make up less than 10% of my drives. The difference in tipping between driving and food delivery is significant. However, I prefer driving over food delivery because of the considerable wear and tear of stop/start driving with food delivery. Most wear on an engine comes from starting the car. Food delivery requires turning off and turning on your car with nearly every pickup and drop off.
@aricblackwelder84913 жыл бұрын
You're a bit mistaken here, and it's a common misconception. Most wear comes from COLD starts. Once the engine is up to operating temperature, you have nothing to really worry about with warm starts. That said, you can likely leave your car running anyway on pickup and delivery if you're that paranoid.
@MJorgy52 жыл бұрын
@@aricblackwelder8491 Cold starts are worse, but starting a warm engine still requires the fuel pump to prime, a starter and flywheel. It also takes a few rpms for the oil pump to supply oil to the entire engine. I'll pay the premium at the pump to let my car idle on short stops.

I appreciate the information here, I do. Essentially, I’m already doing everything recommended here. I’ve been driving for two years. Digging into analytics in terms of gross pay, net pay, tips etc. is all well and fine, but the elephant in the room is the CAR and gas prices. If you have a relatively new car, your vehicle cost per year is going to be relatively low. If you have an older car, your vehicle cost, maintenance, Repairs etc. is going to be extremely high, especially with the extra wear and tear on the suspension and just everything about the car. I’m a bit surprised that with all the strategy info here there isn’t a mention of a newer car versus older car, and repair costs, and yes value depreciation of the newer car which will be more, dollar wise than with an older car. These costs would be directly connected to amount of mileage driven, and state of the roads on which you drive. I don’t know if there have been any videos that dive into this important issue, and if there are that’s great, but if there aren’t there certainly should be, especially from a business perspective, considering that in the end net profit is all that matters. Period. The two relatively small cities in my area offer far more trips per shift then the outer areas, and less mileage as well. But wear & tear on the car is extreme. I spent $2200 this spring to replace and upgrade Suspension parts because of the six months prior wear & tear on the car in the cities. Consequently, “strategy-wise” I don’t deliver in those areas, anymore unless pulled there by deliveries that end up in those areas. It’s just not worth it to drive 30 minutes back to my preferred area so I try to find trips that bring me back to my preferred area. That’s not easy & absolutely cuts into my “Net” per hour. So if I subtract the amount of money that I spend on repairs, and much poorer gas mileage in the two cities, with the average 15 to 20 stop signs on each single delivery (yup), that’s NOT counting stoplights (7 to 10 per single delivery), financially it’s just not worth it. Just a quick check as of my comment today December 17, 2021, the average gas price in Pittsburgh is $3.55, in my area Hartford it’s $3.48. But In San Diego since it was mentioned it’s $4.63. And in Los Angeles California it’s $4.70. So that’s s huge factor depending on your market. So when we’re talking about “optimize”, no strategy can be considered without taking these factors into account. The data that discussed here is essentially based on if we were driving on perfectly flat roads with no potholes, only stoplights. rush-hour traffic is generally considered, which certainly figures in. But not to take into consideration the real world cost of the vehicle, skews the data completely. The general concepts work, but I can’t use half of the information, because I have to figure in the fact that there are many more orders in the two cities, but it just doesn’t pay in real-world terms. In my market I drive roughly 125 miles a day in six hours. That works out to over 32,000 miles a year. Think about that. Figured that into let’s say a car with 125,000 miles on it to start (my car), Chances are I will need to buy a new car, or a new USED car, every two years. I absolutely have to figure that into my “strategy” and into my calculations of how much I actually make net. In my area, at best a new used car is roughly $7,000 to $10,000, on the cheap side so… yeah🙄

One part of your video around the 11 min mark you talk about multitasking. Update. Doordash will often give you 2 or 3 orders at the same time especially during very busy time periods. I have personally gone in the opposite direction to deliver the 1st order only to retrace my tracks and then sum to deliver the second. And the customer can see the whole trip.

I average around $1000/week. I don’t think people are gauging their hours the same way though. I’m usually out working 8-9 hours a day. 6-7 days per week. I’m not always working that many hours though. I am logged off a lot while I chase surges, go to a busier area, waiting for rush, etc. The suburbs aren’t as busy as Chicago, but I complete nowhere near as many deliveries as what some people are saying. Anything over 20 per day is giving yourself and your car to these companies that couldn’t care less about us. It’s all about timing. Strategy is huge. Multi platform is also key. GH in my area is waaaay better for tips. UE is better on weekends/rush hour because of surges. DD is busier than GH, but not as good on tips. You have to navigate around those kind of trends in order to maximize your earnings without selling yourself out. I used to chase bonuses on UE, but $2 minimum orders is just plain disrespectful. Not every market has that minimum, but that’s what we swallow in Chicagoland. Long story short, GH Mon-Thu during dinner rush. UE and DD after GH hours to stay busy. Works for me. $1000/week consistently while usually working 6 days/week. If you’re giving them more than 50 hours per week outside your home, they own you and your car. No matter how much you make.

$/hr is the wrong way to look at it. $/mile is the best metric for measuring how well you're doing in the delivery game. Mileage = time, so it takes time into account too. If the platform fails to deliver more than $1/mile, it's not good. You must tally all miles, from leaving garage to returning to garage. Therefore, if you want to make $1,000/week, you're looking at a max of 1,000 miles per week if the platform is legit, which means you're putting 52,000 miles per year on your vehicle. You really want to have a $1.50/mile or better which would reduce your annual mileage to 35,000/year, assuming $1,000/week earnings, which is much more sustainable in my opinion. I'm not excited to put 52,000 miles/year on my vehicle, even though it's a 4 cylinder Honda Accord. 35,000/year is ok.

I did $12,000 in 33 days and did $59,143 in 8 months. It can be done. Its really easy when your just starting out because they throw you the good batches for the first 30-90 days and then afterwards youre competing. So now i run instacart, shipt, uber eats, corner shop, roadie and go puff...

im a pro ... i exclusively work door dash in the central Seattle area and make 20-30$ an hour regulary start at 10 work till 6 or 7 ...easy 1000 or more a week if you drive everyday most ive ever made was 1400$. deduct about 15 percent for gas ...also consider i traded 40k miles on my car for a year and a half of driving. Ive replaced brakes 3 times...also had several small parking tickets or small accidents. Its tough and cut throat in my market. People park were ever and you have to break the law at least 15 times a day. To bang it out you got hustle in this city.

Im a Single Mom of 1. Laid off in Aug 2022 (been laid off three times since the pandemic!) unemployment, ran out in March 2023. I’ve been building several Etsy shops. One of them is consistently making revenue each month, but I don’t touch the money. I started ridesharing a little over a month ago again and did my first hour of DoorDash today just to get my foot in the water while I wait for Uber to fix my account so I can do Uber Eats. Hourly wise with Uber I’m already making more power than I did at my Mortgage job . During the summer, I will be experimenting what it would be like to actually have all day to work instead of stopping to pick up my kids from kindergarten at 2:30 PM, even though I cook, clean and work on my side hustle when I get home He’ll be in daycamp all day so I’m gonna have to decide at some point do I want to put him back in after school care for the cost of $97 a week and I think I can already tell I will easily be able to make up that $97 a week if I could just have more of an opportunity to make more money between the hours of 7:40 AM to 5:30 PM I want to do Uber in the early morning and then do food delivery during the peak, lunch hours and then go back to do an Uber but… I only want to work three days a week Because again, as a single mother, I have to do laundry, meal, prep, grocery shop, take care of my child, one other errands… So I’ve been trying to establish a base Minimum of working three days during the week and then every other weekend when he’s with his dad. I am very limited I cannot work every single weekend But what I’m doing on my days off during the week is growing my KZbin channel and of course working on my thriving Etsy shop right now It’s all worth it regardless as long as you’re working on some thing else that you’re growing like a side hustle, or growing your own business or personal brand Even if you’re making $20 an hour you have to remind yourself that the flexibility in the freedom is just as important if it means you get the flexibility and the freedom to work on other projects, side, hustles or businesses that will make you money in the long term . For those of y’all that are hustling your own business while you’re doing gig work like Mike (and me) … Keep doing what you’re doing, keep hustling, keep up your motivation, because there is nothing better right now than to be your own business in this economy right now . Obviously real estate is not doing well right now I have a lot of friends that are struggling in the mortgage business but I have been trying to grow other online e-commerce businesses since January 2021, because I know that there is no job security anymore In fact, I am afraid of taking a full-time job that’s going to keep me from working on these other passion projects .

Uber Eats got me about $1500 a week, driving 12 hour days. I don't recommend this. Highly stressful. Bad drivers, awkward pickups/deliveries, gate/building key codes, bags of food and drink trays. Still, it kept a roof over my head during the winter instead of the alternative - living in my car.

Hey mike, so glad that I came across your channel. It motivated me to get back out on the road delivering. I’m based in Pittsburgh also, so it’s so nice to be able to relate to this numbers as we’re both in the same market. Instant sub, and thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us on here.

This makes me looks so trash. UberEats in PR the only pay from 1-3 bucks per delivery😟. The app does not even show you earnings when request appear in your screen before accepting. It only shows the time in minutes of how far away its. And if you declined a request they will take you out circulation and you won't get request for hours and hours even though you are online in surge area or very Hi demanding area they do that to punish you, is sad they really take advantange of drivers here in Puerto Rico.

I feel lucky I live in a smallish to medium sized college town when compared to a lot of other college towns. I tend to pound out 5 or 6 orders an hour mainly because of efficient pick up at locations, and everything being mostly compacted into certain areas.
@beast111353 жыл бұрын
It's pretty simple really. Work a good 40 hrs a week or less If you reach that goal and want to relax after. Work the busier hours, and If you have to balance this with having kids make sure It's short term to help you get ahead.

This video could have been easily 10-15mins MAX. He’s just adding fluff like “taking a sip of my coffee, saying hi to anyone who comes in, talking slow, long breaks between each sentence…” Bruh just say it and go through it straight to the point. You’re making it more complicated than it actually is

Hi Mike, I was googling up something and popped up your video. Love it. I'm very new to this and wished I started sooner. I have adult children that do this Uber Eats and would come home with $100's after working there 9to5 jobs by doing this gig! I thought I'm going to do this, so here you go I'm now doing it. And needless to say I quit my job with Cigna by the way it was the worst experience ever working for Cigna. However I was able to quit my job with Cigna and went back to school I started a couple weeks ago, And that's all because of Uber Eats. I am able to continue my education and get my license to be a nurse, and still support myself and all my bills. I've made very good money doing this. And a lot of your tips I have of course done because it's in my blood, I have always been a people person I've worked with people for the past 30 years I love my patients I am in the healthcare field so I would never give that up but Uber Eats will get me through school and then some.

Hello, I like your videos I'm new to uber, I started 2 months ago with uber food deliveries, but I noticed in California you get more expensive order than I get in Florida, Orlando...I never got for 2 months any order over over $ 11 most of them under $10...for $100 I have drive all day. And my gas waste is $30

I'm actually glad that uber acquired postmates. working solely for postmates was terrible. sometimes you had to order for the customers and then sit there waiting, people just didn't tip as much, and the general cost of orders and fares were lower. with uber eats I now get uber and postmates orders through one app, and my tip rate is near 100%.

I'm new to this I enjoy it on my spare time off. I have a full time job as a trucker. Been in my career for over 28 years. Im used to seeing this btwn trucking company and big major company. If you do your job and keep a good attitude and kill your customer or merchant with kindness you will go far. You will always have other companies try to offer you a better opportunity. Me I enjoy working with people.

Lovin the food delivery business. For the 1st time ever, I’m able to buy myself the nicest car I’ve ever had. In my area however the best I’ve been able to achieve is $100-$140 in 15 deliveries. I’m using the tips, I multi app, I quickly figure my $$ versus mileage, I call my clients to let them know I’m enroute to pick up their food then follow up with texts & let them know once Im enroute usually with their ETA. Once I deliver I always Thank them. But I’m still making more than I’ve ever made. I’m still open to suggestions however and love the teachings. I’m sure, like myself that these videos & the VIP videos are very helpful to us. Thank you for all you do to help all of us.

Sometimes I accept a small order even though it's not good dollars to miles just to keep another driver out of the area so that I'm close to all the good restaurants I know if I decline it they'll bounce it to someone else and I'll bring another driver in that little area I'm in
