Simple things to maintain your car/vehicle. Use hot water on your battery posts for cleaning the corrosion. Avoid cheap oil change places. Save money and diy if you can.

When a vehicle gets to the 400K mile stage, the act of changing oil is more important than what is being put in and replaced. BUT, if you really, really want to do it like a professional, a genuine Toyota filter (which is not expensive) and a "good" quality recommended oil gives more cushin to your engine. If you have a Toyota and are "into" Toyotas, give "The Car Care Nut" a view and you will be blown away by the creator. He is a Toyota Guru. That is the only description I can think of. I bought the truck new and at the time, didn't think it would be my last vehicle. Now if I can just get another 20 years/200K out of it, I'm good. You really wanna make a car last a long time? Here’s a tip for you young bucks out there. Stop driving the car like you’re at the drag strip, the Indianapolis 500, or competing in the Baja race or a demolition derby. Take care of your ride, and keep those fluids and filters changed. And yeah I know all those things I listed are fun to do, as well as a right of passage in a way. But unless you have a few hundred thousand dollars to throw away on a new car, take care of what you got as those newer vehicles may end up costing you more then a $150,000 for just a base model pickup.
