Thank you so much for this video. I’m a novice at this . VERY HELPFUL !!!

I did much the same, but added coarse, dark green material at the bottom to simulate weeds. I also added a bit of ink to the resin, as most freshwater ponds are not crystal clear. Good video, nice explanations.

Good Video. I also noticed the sticky surface after the cure. I corrected that by putting on a layer of Modge Podge. Works just fine. Thanks for the info and video.

This is really helpful, and so are some of the other comments. You could avoid some of the dust problem by covering the whole pond area with a scrap of cardboard while the stuff dries. Thanks for posting. I've never done this, but thanks to your video, I have more confidence.

Great idea for my fair garden, what paint would be best to tint the color as blue? Thank you for you tips.
@mike93773910 жыл бұрын
I just painted the bottom of my pond and poured the acrylic water over that. The water is clear so the color show through. Depending the maker of the kit you can buy special dyes to mix in. Painting the bottom was easier for me.

Thanks for the video and info on this stuff. Wondered if you could add dye to the resin before pouring? Was thinking of the Easter egg/water based dyes. I build armor in 1/35th scale and also wondered how hard would it be to add cattails to the water after it has dried.
@mike9377398 жыл бұрын
I have seen dyes online but have not tried them. You can drill into it for cattails, but you can see the drill holes through the resin so I would glue on top and scenic around it.

is any kind of resin ok to pour onto polystyrene
@mike9377398 жыл бұрын
I have not tried any other type of resin so I do not know. If there are no solvents in your resin, anything should work.

you can get rid of the tackyness with non acetone nail polish remover

@mike9377398 жыл бұрын
The base is foam insulation board that can be purchased at Lowes or Homedepot. Thickness ranges from 1/2 inch to 2 inches..

+mike937739 thank you. I want to make a battle diorama. I want to make a crater or pond with about 3 to 4 inches thick for the water. what do you recommend for that?
@mike9377398 жыл бұрын
Try stacking the foam board and glue with latex caulk to seal it.
@eddiejones21308 жыл бұрын
+mike937739 so like foam board then glue then caulk?

The "tackiness" is the epoxy curing. There was no need to make the pond as deep as you did, you could have achieved the illusion of depth with paint. Since you were making such a deep pour, you should have made several thin pours letting it cure between each. There is a reason that product is cheaper than the others on the market. If you want to save money, try using Mod Podge.
@eddiejones21308 жыл бұрын
I use modge podge. and some times caulk. I made it deep because the diorama I'm making there's going to have a dead soldier in the water. but I wanted to attempt to make it so the soldier was in there kinda deep. how deep should I make it?
