What did I do wrong? I did everything described in the video; shook the copper powder down, used thin CA glue, let it sit over night. Then I drilled out the center to discover the CS glue only went down less than a 1/8" both sides. The copper in the middle of the ring was still powder and I lost it all after drilling. Has this happened to anyone else and how do you fix it? Am I using to strong of a glue? Is there something thinner than thin? Did I pack down the copper powder to tightly? I have more copper powder and elk antler blanks to try again but want to make sure I do it right this time.

My practice ring has slender pockets where the pink I used did not fill. What would be your suggestion as to finishing it? Do you seal it with anything?
@usskullhunter4 жыл бұрын
Hey Tina! Use CA glue to fill in any gaps and to seal the whole ring. This will also protect the inlay from sweat as well.
@bigmamaerica Жыл бұрын
what kind of drill bit was that you used to drill out the hole for the ring? and what kind of clamp? I just started making rings and I'm encountering difficulties with breaking the antler pieces. I've been cutting them into thinner rounds and using a drill press with the rounds in a jig but I wanna try your method.
@usskullhunter Жыл бұрын
Here is the clamp I use. I actually use this thing all the time and love it amzn.to/3OCpOlu The drill bit was just a typical 1/2 bit, nothing special
