Knurlings for a lathe are made of wheels from lighters.
Conventional knurling has large dimensions and widths of knurling rollers.
And on small machines, especially watchmakers, the use of such knurling, in my opinion, is undesirable and inconvenient.
Therefore, I made 4 knurls, in which I used small wheels from lighters: two knurls for rolling on the outer surface of the part and two for rolling on the inner surface. I took shanks as axes
drills. These knurls are for small parts.

In one knurling there is just a wheel from a lighter.
On the other knurling, the width of the wheel is reduced in order to reduce the load on the machine and on the workpiece.

For two knurls for the outer surface, I made two different holders.
On one knurled wheel, the wheel is cantilevered. This arrangement, of course, gives less rigidity and strength.
But such a knurling design is needed for small internal holes, for a small rise in the metal.
A homemade wire ring in the groove prevents the wheel from flying off.
The second knurling was done with a two-bearing roller. This is necessary for the stiffness and strength of the knurling. This knurling is used for large diameters.
In order for the axle to be two-bearing, this knurling
a groove is milled on the side of the holder.
In this holder, another groove is milled - a technological one, so that the wheel axle can be removed.
The lighter wheels have asymmetrical teeth, such as a ratchet or disc cutter. Therefore, the knurling is also asymmetrical. This allows more torque to be generated in one direction than in the other direction.
This is how you can make different knurls from lighters.
