Hi Traci ! I love your work! Yesterday as I was sewing patches on a denim duster, I remembered that in my quilting life I use school glue sticks instead of pins to baste the patches on. I started doing it on the duster, and what a time saver! I have heard people say it can gum up your needle, but that has not happened to me. Hugs!

Love your jeans. I have a black and white short hair cat. So I'll use the other. Her name is Gabby and she is 9 years old. I think I'll call it my memory jeans. I lost two long hair cats to old age. Wish I could find pictures of long hair cats so I can sew them on. Just to remind me of my cats. Love my little companions. When you lose them , they take part of you. For the style I like I've found thrifted kids or babies printed tee shirts to be a great resource for appliques. This idea started as a result of doing these sort of designs for my toddler with older clothes he loved but had become unwearable then I realized much later on that i could do this with designs I liked too :D

While I love the jeans, I love so much all the techniques that can go on anything. I plan to use some of them on jean jackets that I bought in a few different sizes....one each for a few friends. Being around during the hippie years, we all like peace signs. I can't wait to put one on the back of the jackets. Will be fun to wear. Will remind us of 'days gone by'.

I went to Walmart and bought some heat and bond and had some squares of pink shabby chic material. While watching your video yesterday, I did my own thing! I never knew you could buy fabrics just to cut for appliques! Traci you are a FANTASTIC resource for bright, fun and doable upcycling. You mentioned using fabric of a similar weight to the denim. I have a challenge I'm working on. I have tattered hand-woven rugs to repurpose. I'll be trying to use pieces on a denim jacket as decoration. We'll see how it goes. It's very thick of course so I'm thinking a big piece on the back of a jacket will make it warmer. With a lot of sewing around the edges so it doesn't completely unravel.

I am experimenting with printing my own appliques on cotton using the freezer paper method. I use png files from Etsy so literally, the images you want are unlimited. I did a pair of Alice in Wonderland jeans that came out adorable using your methods. Just FYI I did an initial pair without using Bubblejet and my appliques faded in the first wash. I am testing out another pair, and so far little fading after 3 washes using appliques I printed using BubbleJet to prepare the fabric to print.
